#Adrasteia – February 28, 2015
LeadEnforcer gives a nod towards the shuttle and puts himself between Ilyna and the crowd. "Quicker you two get out of sight, the quicker we can calm down this crowd. Get in."
Victoria stared down the shuttle Enforcer, he could clearly see blue blood on her face but she did not make any noise.
Devin gives the enforcer a nod and releases his grip on Ilyna's hand. He steps up into the shuttle and takes a seat across from Victoria.
Ilyna nods and speeds up her pace, as well. She enters the shuttle last and takes the seat beside Devin.
LeadEnforcer waves a few other enforcers into the shuttle. Once they've loaded up, he climbs in and closes the shuttle door. He gives a couple heavy bangs against the wall to signal the pilot before shouting, "We're good to go!"
The shuttle begins to lift off, leaving the scene below behind. The remaining enforcers are loading Raymond and the turian's bodies into the second shuttle. The crowd below has formed a semi-circle around the opening of the alley as a single enforcer does his best to keep them at bay.
Devin stares at Leah silently for a few moments before lowering his gaze to the floor. The side of his face has a visible redness to it that's quickly turning to bruising.
Ilyna stares at Victoria for a moment, but sighs as she returns the gaze to the floor without saying anything. She looks extremely weary now that the adrenaline has worn off.
The shuttle soars over the city towards the heart of Adrasteia, Sector One. A commercial district that, even in the middle of the night, is still brightly lit up. Down on street-level, a few more enforcers can be seen patrolling the main street. A tall building with a sign that reads: Torthus-Cross stands at the center of Adrasteia, viewable from nearly anywhere in the city.-
The shuttle begins to lower a couple blocks from the tall building, through a roof-accessed shuttle bay door atop a flat, one-story building. Once it lands, the doors slide open, revealing the inside of a shuttle bay loaded with an array of identical shuttles, all bearing the Enforcer's insignia. The lead enforcer hops out first and begins waving the prisoners out.
There's a large open door that leads into a sterile white hallway about 20 feet from the shuttle. An enforcer is standing just inside of it, waiting to receive the prisoners.
Ilyna stands up and steps out of the shuttle, making sure her hands are seen at any time because of the lack of a restraint. Once out of the shuttle, she steps aside, awaiting further instruction.
LeadEnforcer points to the man just inside the hall. "He'll escort you the rest of the way." he says.
Leah looks out from the shuttle, then over at Ilyna with an uneasy expression on her face, but she bites her tongue for now and stands from her seat. She hops out of the shuttle and proceeds in the direction pointed out by the lead enforcer.
Devin follows right behind Ilyna, but doesn't pay much attention to where his hands are, seeming quite oblivious to the whole ordeal.
Ilyna makes sure to take the lead as she approaches the indicated direction, not looking around the room.
HallEnforcer has a datapad in his hand as the group approaches him. "Alright, single file. Those of you without restraints, hands visible at all times. You lot will be going to Containment Room 3." he says as he waves them by to continue down the hall. As Victoria passes by, he furrows his brow, "Cut the noise out." he demands.
The hall goes for about 30 feet, then becomes a four-way intersection, with halls branching out to the right, the left, and straight ahead of them. There's a few other enforcers walking the halls, as well as a few people in civillian clothing. Multiple doors line each side of the hall, but they're all closed.
Leah does a show of turning around and raising her arms slightly to indicate that she's bound as she follows behind Devin. She passes a concerned look off to Victoria.
Ilyna looks at the signs on or beside the doors as she proceeds down the hall, trying to see where containing room 3 is.
Most of the doors have no signs, although a few are labeled. As they near the intersection, Ilyna would be able to see that the hall to her left abruptly ends at a large, metal door. The words "Containment" are etched above it. The enforcer in the back of the line confirms it as the right direction with a simple shout, "Left." followed by a gruff demand to Devin, "If I don't see your hands in the next five seconds, I'm gonna take
Victoria gave the guard an hateful look as she could not hum anymore. ''Stupid, motherfucker. Bet you are just pissed cause no one wants to touch you.'' She mumbled to herself.
Ilyna starts walking left, glancing at Tanner. "Cooperate with the enforcers," she says. "That's an order. And do as he says, Devin, please..."
HallEnforcer puts a hand on Victoria's shoulder. "Wanna repeat that, sweetheart? Maybe a little louder so the rest of us can hear?" he asks. But it's obvious that it's more of a demand than a request.
Victoria coughs clearing her throat ''I said that you need someone to touch you, so you don't have a pole up your arse. Sir!'' She said the sir part as if she was a soldier.
The door opens automatically as Ilyna approaches it. On the other side is another long hallway. The left-hand side is lined with small cells consisting of translucent blue energy barriers. A few people are in the first cell. Above it is the number 1. Containment room 2 and 3 appear to be empty, and the barrier is down.-
A single person is in containment room 4. The right-hand side of the hall is lined with standard doors.
HallEnforcer gives a bit of a laugh. "Everyone in 3!" he orders. But he guides Victoria away from the group and towards one of the solid doors on the right-hand side. "Cept you. You're coming with me." he orders.
Leah glances back and looks between Victoria and the enforcer. She then looks up towards the front of the line at Ilyna.
Ilyna looks over her shoulder concerned. "Don't cause more trouble, Steels," she says before proceeding towards the third cell, and inside if it's open.
Containment room 3 looks identical to the other containment "rooms". Small with a bench lining the back wall. The blue barrier allows full view into the neighboring cells.
Devin follows right behind Ilyna and heads right towards the bench, plopping down. He instantly buries his face in his hands.
Ilyna takes the seat beside him, and wraps an arm over his shoulder in an attempt at comforting him. She remains quiet.
Leah steps into the containment cell, but continues to watch the man with Victoria, incredibly uneasy at the idea of being separated from her.
As soon as Leah steps inside, the blue barrier comes to life, locking them in. Once the barrier is up, Leah's restraints automatically disengage.
Devin glances over at Ilyna with a sigh, "That turian is dead." he says, sounding upset at the idea.
HallEnforcer guides Victoria through the nearby door on the right-hand side of the hall. The room inside is simple with a single table in the middle and a chair on each side of it. In the corner is an open door with a toilet just inside of the room. The enforcer taps the interface beside the door once they're inside, closing the door behind him.-
begins patting Victoria down, checking over her armor for anything that may be potentially dangerous. "You hiding anything that I should know about?" he asks.
Ilyna frowns. "That's... the harsh reality of the terminus systems," she murmurs, "what you've been trying to get your family out of."
Devin nods a few times. "I know but-..." he sighs, "If I had just listened to you, none of this would have happened. I'm sorry, Ilyna. I could've gotten you and your team killed."
''I'm not hiding anything, sir. Now why have I be taken away from my friends?'' She asked the Enforcer in return.
Leah looks over her wrists for a moment before taking a seat on the other side of Ilyna. "What's the plan, Ilyna? This doesn't sit right with me."
HallEnforcer doesn't bother to answer her question. "Gonna need you to take off the armor." he says, taking a step back from the woman. He folds his arms across his chest.
Victoria shook her head ''Nope. I don't trust you and it is rather hard for me to be touched up while wearing this.'' She said, instantly not trusting being alone with this man.
HallEnforcer lifts his omni-tool and taps at it a few times, releasing Victoria's restraints. "It wasn't a request." he says, nodding towards the small room with the toilet. "There's a change of clothes in there. You either take the fucking armor off, or I'll remove it for you. And I can guarantee you, I won't be gentle."
Ilyna gives a slight squeeze. "I... hate being right," she says. "And it's alright, there's... nothing we can do now than remember what went wrong." She looks over at Leah. "They said we'd have a short stay here. They've had run-ins with those people before, but... I worry about Victoria."
Victoria stares down the Enforcer ''You want me out of my armor? Then you get the fuck out and give me some privacy to get changed. Or I can go down to the soft armor, if you don't leave.'' Debating with the man.
Leah looks over towards the door Victoria disappeared through. "She seems determined to get herself in trouble." she sighs, "If it comes to it... What do you think our chances are? They look pretty stacked."
HallEnforcer gives a condescending laugh. "You seem to think you have some say in this. Get the fucking armor off, now. Last time I'm gonna ask."
Victoria is going to kill this man if she gets the chance. She starts taking off the hard steel plates of her armor. ''Big strong man, taking advantage of his prisoner. If you knew who I was, you would be treating me with respect.'' She the man a look that would strike fear into anyone with a brain.
HallEnforcer doesn't seem to have much of a brain, then, because he just follows it up with another condescending laugh. "Taking advantage? Are you a fucking idiot? You think we're just gonna let you march around in a full suit of armor?"
Leah sighs as she looks around. She holds her words as an enforcer passes down the hallway. Once he's out of earshot, she responds, "We may not have a choice, Ilyna. They have uniforms. Shuttles. Their own detention center, but-... This is Adrasteia. Aite. It wouldn't surprise me if they were just a gang of thugs, picking up people to sell into the slave market."
''And you a fucking idiot? How many guys you got here?'' She stopped and stared at the man ''You think even with my armor, I can be a threat to you all? Either your guys have shitty training or think I am an N7 soldier.''
HallEnforcer stares at Victoria for a few moments. "Maybe we should let you have a weapon, too, right? Hell, maybe we'll give you two. Shut up and take off the armor. You'll get the fucking stuff back when we're done with you."
Ilyna frowns. "Then we, or Redrock, or... whoever else we can contact have to match the price," she whispers. "I'm in no shape to fight."
Devin 's eyes widen at the mention of being sold as slaves. "Wha-... No! I have an audition next weekend!"
Victoria continues taking the plates off ''If you knew who I am and what I have done, you would not be treating me like this.'' She growled.
HellEnforcer takes another step back and leans against the wall. "If you knew who I am, you might not be so comfortable about running your mouth like that. I have no issues with laying your teeth out on the ground."
Victoria finished taking her plates off and moves back to lean against the wall ''Is this good enough for you?'' She asked wearing only her soft armor.
HallEnforcer looks Victoria up and down and gives a creepy smirk. "I suppose it'll do." he says. "Now, what the fuck happened out there? Report says we've got one body, and one guy in pretty bad condition. When our Enforcers arrived on the scene, you were the only one armed."
Ilyna nods. "And you'll make it there, I promise," she says, moving her arm off his shoulder to enable her omni-tool and check the connection status. "They seemed concerned about publicity earlier, too."
Ilyna shakes her head and disables the omni-tool again. "No luck," she says. "I can ask to use a terminal next time I see a guard... it's at least worth an attempt."
''We were protecting that so called vid star in the other room. I never heard of this Devin guy before. I arrived to protect him and my friends from being sold into slavery.'' She was telling the asshole what she did. ''The turian tried to take me down, so I did what I had to. I only had firearms, so I dealt with the little slavers as anyone would..''
HallEnforcer narrows his eyes at Victoria. "That so?" he asks, not sounding too convinced, "Raymond and his guys have been around for quite some time. They're no slavers."
Victoria shrugs ''All I know is that they tried to take Devin, maybe not as a slave to sell but ransom him. We were hired to protect him.''
Devin runs a hand through his hair and shakes his head. "This is all fucked... Just-... Tell them who I am, Ilyna. Maybe they'll just let us go."
HallEnforcer nods and reaches over to tap the door interface. "Back with the others." he orders, nudging the woman towards the door.
Victoria starts walking to the cell the others are in. They would notice that she is only wearing her soft armor.
HallEnforcer taps at his omni-tool, lowering the barrier for Victoria to enter as he follows her out of the room. "I don't wanna be here all night, and this idiot likes to talk out of her ass. Any of you trouble-makers able to tell me what actually happened down at Illumination?"
Leah moves over by Victoria. "You alright, Vicky?" she asks, glancing over at the enforcer with a scowl.
What sort of impression do you get from them? Ilyna seems to think it's best if we just play it cool and do what they tell us.... You alright with that?
Ilyna steps into the room and steps towards the table, leaning slightly over it with both hands flat on it for visibility. "So, it started with the client asking the Illumination staff for Red Sand," she begins, but waits for him to step inside to tell more of it.
HallEnforcer follows Ilyna in and closes the door behind them. "So you're dusters? Didn't think that shit worked on your kind." he says as he rounds the table, "What is all this about a 'client'? What sort of 'client' relation do you have to Devin Tanner? You a streetwalker?"
Devin looks between Leah and Victoria. "Uhh-..." he begins, pausing for a moment, "I just wanted to say thanks..."
''We are just doing our job. Try not to be an asshole sometimes, being kind to people pays off better than it does to be ass.''
Ilyna frowns. "It was his agent's request and the club's rules that had two of us unarmed," she says. "And I know Red Sand has no effect on asari and batarians. It got released into the air on a mercenary job years ago... that was a mess." She sighs. "The staff member came back saying someone was waiting outside, and it was the people you found us with. They insisted on doing business in
a shuttle in an alley, and I refused it outright, but they kept insisting even if there was no reason to not settle it outside."
HallEnforcer puts a hand up, waving it for her to slow down. "Wait, so you guys are his security?" he asks, "Is there some sort of company you work for that we can confirm this with?"
Ilyna nods confidently. "Redrock Agency," she says. "My name is Ilyna; I am in charge of this job. And you can also confirm it with his agent, Kor Zil, who I met in person a day before I met Mr. Tanner."
HallEnforcer begins inputting all this information into his omni-tool. "Redrock. Kot Zil. Ilyna-..." he repeats, looking up from his omni-tool, "You got a last name, Ilyna? Spell it for me. Your kind always has tough ones to spell."
Devin furrows his brow at Victoria. "Asshole? How am I being an asshole!? I'm thanking you! Fuck, I'm trying to show gratitude and this is how you act?"
Ilyna enables her omni-tool and spells it out before flipping the screen, hoping his translator will transcribe it. "T'Rea," she says.
HallEnforcer copies it down and allows his omni-tool to dissipate. "Alright. I'll pass the info along. You can go back with the others." He moves to the door and opens it for her, stepping aside to allow her to exit.
''I am talking about earlier. You treat my friends like they are nothing.'' She stops for a second ''I'm sorry if I come off quite blunt, but it has been a long day and I want fucking out of this place.''
Ilyna holds up her hand. "One more thing," she says. "Raymond contacted someone just before fighting started saying they're bringing in three people after we didn't let Mr. Tanner go into the shuttle." After that, she makes her way to the exit, hands infront of her, and back to the cell if uninterrupted.
HallEnforcer sighs loudly as he follows behind Ilyna. "What have those idiots gotten themselves into this time..." he mutters to himself. He deactivates the barrier to the cell, allowing Ilyna to enter, and reactivates it once she's inside. "Sit tight. Someone will get you soon."
HallEnforcer gives a shrug. "Not my decision." he says as he starts down the hall and through the large metal doors they entered from.
Victoria looks at Devin ''Look, this trip might have turned out some what shitty for you. But at least you are alive. When you get back to acting, use this event as a inspiration.''
Ilyna looks uncertain. "I don't know," she says, "but... we'll know soon enough, I suppose. He said they'll confirm with the agency and Kor Zil who we are." She makes her way back to sit beside Devin.
Leah frowns. "And you trust them to do that? You sure that's a good idea, Ilyna?" She puts a hand up, "Don't get me wrong, I trust your judgement... But this whole thing..." she looks around, "It's not Aite. It's too.... Organized."
Victoria leaned back and looked at the door ''Just make a few action movies. Something with explosions and all of that... Oh and asari babes.''
Devin allows a smirk to cross his face. He wipes at his forehead, looking a bit exhausted as a chuckle escapes him. "Yeah... Yeah, fuck it... I'll try, Vicky."
Devin 's smile grows a bit. "Oh?" he asks, beaming with a bit of pride, "What's your favorite?" He straightens up in his seat as he awaits the asari's answer.
Ilyna looks away, at the ground for a moment. "A... beautiful shade of blue," she admits in a murmur, looking a little embarrased.
Victoria puts her hand up ''Also maybe, include a red-headed chick that loves asari and kickass in that possible action movie.'' She kind of butted in.
Devin regains his confident demeanor and gives his vid-star smile, "You're blushing, Ilyna." he points out, "Guess I've got myself another admirer, eh?" He sits up a bit straighter in his seat as he addresses Victoria, "Absolutely. Make her a bit insane, too, huh? Have a bit of an addiction to stabbing people in the face?"
The metal door slides open, and an Enforcer marches down the hall with a human male that appears to be putting up a bit of a fight. The man looks to be in his mid-to-late 30's, and has a completely shaven head crowned with numerous scars. A crescent-shaped scar, starting at his forehead, proceeds across his cheek and ends on his chin.-
Two more scars intersect across his throat. He has dark, deep-set eyes. He's wearing some bright blue baggy pants, obviously provided by the Enforcers, and a white shirt. The Enforcer wrestles him over to Containment Room 2 and pushes him inside before activating the barrier. The whole ordeal is over quickly.
Ilyna blushes even more. "Um, no comment," she says. She glances at the opening door, but takes her gaze away as soon as she sees they're just bringing in another prisoner.
Devin chuckles again, "Hate to burst your bubble, Vicky, but I just stand in front of the camera and look pretty. I don't call the shots."
Enforcer sighs loudly. "Dammit, Gigglez, I'm tired of bringing your strung-out ass in here. Cross has given you guys way too many chances, you've fucked up. Now sit the fuck down and stop making this difficult." he says before marching off back the way he came."
Victoria grins ''Give me a call, I am sure I can make sure some writers and directors get you something with action...'' She stops when she hears the name Gigglez and stares at the man or tries too.
Devin looks a bit uneasy at the mention of the man's name. He bites his lower lip and glares over at Gigglez through the barrier, but quickly looks away.
Gigglez kicks the barrier once before he begins walking small circles in the center of his cell. As soon as he spots the group, he marches over to the barrier between his cell and theirs and locks his eyes on Ilyna. He gives her a wide grin and a quick little wave.
Victoria stands up and walks as close to the barrier as possible. She grins evily at the man and says ''Next time I see you outside, we are gonna have some fun.''
Ilyna stands up and walks over to Victoria, putting a hand on her shoulder to turn her around. "What did I just say?"
Gigglez begins to laugh once again, that slow gurgling chuckle. After a few moments, he lashes out at the barrier, punching it with his right hand, then with his left. He drives his forehead against it, causing the noise to reverberate throughout the room. He locks eyes with Victoria once again, smile still on his face as a small amount of blood trickles from his forehead.
Victoria growls softly and walks back to her seat, then stares at the man ''If I see him outside again. He is mine.''
Leah reaches out and puts a hand on Victoria's arm. "Now's not the time, Vicky. Let's just fly under the radar and get the hell out of here. Please. This place is making me claustrophobic."
"Fucking fine, I won't pay that Jester clowning fucking joker any attention. Sorry I am getting cranky mummy." She said the last part jokingly.
After around an hour and a half with no word from the Enforcers, a man enters the hallway beside the lead enforcer that brought the group in. He looks to be about 45ish with wavy brown hair that stops just above his shoulders. He's dressed in an expensive-looking custom made suit. "Three?" he asks the enforcer. "Yeah, containment room three." the lead enforcer responds.
The man continues down the hall towards the group's cell and stops just outside of it with a datapad in hand. "Redrock Agency?" he asks, looking between everyone.
Leah has went back and forth between sitting down and nervously tapping her foot, and pacing around the cell.
Ilyna is still sitting, trying to have a nap here and there with little success. She nods at the guard. "Yes, that's us."
The man in the suit steps just inside the cell and extends a hand towards Ilyna. "Bryan Cross." he offers, "I apologize for all-... this. It takes time to tame a place like Aite, you understand." he says with a friendly chuckle.
Ilyna stands up, walks towards him and takes his hand. "Ilyna T'Rea. It's nice to meet you, Mr. Cross," she says. "And I think I understand."
Cross glances back at the lead Enforcer. "Jaden, get their shuttle ready to depart." he says before turning his attention back to Ilyna. "I've met a couple of your people." he continues, "Steven and Renala. I hope they're doing well?"
Leah stands up and takes a position beside Ilyna. She folds her arms across her chest but remains quiet.
Ilyna tilts her head for a moment, then nods. "I haven't met Steven, but Renala was doing fine last time I saw her," she says. "Shall I give them your regards?"
Cross nods. "Absolutely." he glances over at Leah and then Victoria, "Leah. Victoria." he says in turn with a friendly smile before explaining, "Pardon me. Like I said, I met Steven and Renala. I suppose 'worked with them' would be more appropriate, actually. I was intrigued and did a little research. Seems like a good agency.-
Leah looks somewhat concerned by the fact that this man knows her name, but allows Ilyna to carry the conversation.
"Not wanting to be rude or anything, but can we go then? We are currently in the middle of a job and I am sure Mr Tanner would like to go to his apartment and sleep."
Ilyna nods. "Yes," she says, "but I have worked with the two running it in the past, and he trusted me to take care of this job."
Devin raises an eyebrow. "I don't have an apartment, Vicky." he chuckles, "But, shit, I'm sure there's some place we can crash around here. We'll get a room or something. What time is it, anyway?"
Cross gives Victoria a nod. "I bet you'd all like some sleep right about now." he says with a chuckle, "I'm guessing it's been a long night." He turns his attention back to Ilyna, "Well, I don't want to stand in the way of your job. I hope my Enforcers haven't caused too much discomfort. As a way of making it up, allow me to offer you a room at Torthus-Cross for the night."
gives a shrug, "It's the least I can do. Besides, you should all probably get a little rest before making the trip back to Freedom Falls."
Ilyna glances at the others. "What say you?" she says, looking at Tanner specifically. "Sounds good?"
Devin stands from the floor and gives a nod. "Hell yeah, sounds good to me. I'm about ready to pass the fuck out." He moves towards them and extends his hand towards Cross.
Cross accepts Devin's hand and gives it a shake. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Tanner. Proud to have someone of your caliber in Adrasteia. I just wish it would've been under better circumstances."
Cross steps aside so they can exit the small room, "The hotel offers room service. They have a great menu. Whatever you want would be on the house, of course."
Ilyna nods. "Thank you," she says. "I really appreciate it." She starts making her way out of the room, taking the lead again.
Cross nods, "Not a problem. Your shuttle is being prepped in the bay. Right down the hall and to your right."
