Mendez starts towards the building at Renala's side. "So I take it that Locust of yours isn't just for looks? Able to handle yourself in a fight?"
#RedrockAgency – February 17, 2014
Renala shrugs. "Well enough, I suppose," she says. "I had an office job for a few decades, so I admit I'm a little rusty. Don't tell Jason that, though." The last part was not entirely serious. "The locust... it's kinda a souvenir from getting out of that mine, since they pretty much stripped us of ours."
Mendez presses the panel beside the front door, causing it to slide open. "Your secrets safe with me, princess." he says as he steps inside and swiftly makes his way across the lobby, "I gotta say, I'm impressed. Figured Jason just hired you to get us through doors... Didn't expect you to be a stone cold killer." he continues, not giving much of a tell as to whether or not he's kidding, although one would probably assume he is. He presses the panel on the other side of the lobby, and steps through into the briefing room.
A scattering of holes pepper the wall behind Mendez' desk which Jasper is kneeled in front of and attempting to repair. The M-23 Katana is sitting on Mendez' seat. Jason stands a few feet behind Jasper, watching him work. Leah still seems to be captivated by whatever is on her datapad, and doesn't appear to have moved since Mendez and Renala left.
Renala nods, though the 'destruction' in the room catches her attention right away. "What happened in here?" she asks with a tile of her head.
Jason forces a smile as he spots the pair walk through the door but his cringe shows through upon hearing Renala's question. "Hey!" he says with a false sense of enthusiasm, "You're back! ... And so soon, too..." He brings his hand up to his mouth and clears his throat, "So-... Uhh... So were you able to come up with anything?"
Mendez looks at the pattern on the wall, then at Jason. His eyes slowly roll over to his shotgun sitting on his chair. He furrows his brow and takes a step towards Jason. "You touched my shit, didn't you!?"
Jason instantly points towards Leah upon the accusation. "I told her it was a bad idea." he says with a shrug, "She wouldn't listen."
Leah stands from her seat and walks between Jason and Mendez, rolling her eyes as she does. "You're an idiot." she says plainly, nudging Jason with her elbow as she passes the two men and exits through the door.
Mendez shakes his head. "You're unbelievable..." he mutters with a sigh before refocusing on the task at hand, "Yeah... Yeah we found something that might be relevant." he says, giving a glance towards Renala, "Tell him what you found, princess."
Renala snorts amusedly, though focuses on the topic at hand. "Not sure if it's worth almost getting killed by an elevator and a fire-escape, but we got a bit of his private messages. You can see them for yourself, but the short version is.... The guy had a forty-thousand credits gambling debt, and was offered a job. He met with him at a place called Litae's Grace, which I think is our best lead. One of the names mentioned in the message seems krogan, so I think we should bring guns."
Jason raises an eyebrow at the mention of a killer elevator and fire-escape, but doesn't question her on it... For now. "Litae's Grace." he repeats, "Think that's a little dive bar in town." He nods a few times and rubs at his chin for a moment, "Alright. This is good." he continues, nodding one more time for good measure, "Leave the data with me and give me a little time to make some calls and see what I can come up with on the place. I'll try and find out who owns it and any information on any of the regulars. I don't want you guys going in blind. Especially if there's a chance that things could get ugly."
Renala enables her omni-tool and sends the files containing the messages to Jason. "The rest of the messages were deleted," she says, "but I think these are enough to tell us what went on."
Jason nods and activates his omni-tool to ensure he received the files. "It's enough to give us our next step." he says, a lopsided smile on his face as the orange glow from his omni-tool dissipates, "That's something." He reaches out and pats both Renala and Mendez on the shoulder, "It's a good start."
Renala smiles. "Seems the guy is tied to the place, though," she says, "so approach it with care if you don't want him to know we're onto him."
Jason gives another nod. "I'll keep that in mind." he says, clasping his hands together in front of himself, "You two should get out of here for now and relax a bit. I'll get in touch as soon as I've seen what I can dig up on the place."
Mendez gives Jason another silent nod before turning to Renala. "I appreciate the help out there, princess." he says, "I would've been a fish out of water without you."
Renala nods. "Thank you," she says to Jason before turning towards the other human. "I'm glad I could do my part," she says.
Jason sighs and rolls his eyes. "I guess I'll leave you two to kiss each others asses." he teases before disappearing through the door leading to his office.
Mendez mutters something under his breath at Jason's comment. He lifts his shotgun off his seat and sets it on his desk. "I've got a bit of work to do around here before I head off to my shift at Hnipinn." he says as he sits down, "So I'll see you later."
Renala nods her goodbyes, rolling her eyes at Jason's teasing. "Mhm. I'll see you around," she says before making her way out of the facility, picking up her Locust on her way out. She didn't order a shuttle, though.
