Nathan is currently sprawled out on the sofa in the recreational room, snacking on an energy bar.

Jasper is seated in his pilot's seat, cap pulled down so the brim covers his eyes. With every breath he takes, a light snore escapes him.

Aylena has changed into a red t-shirt and simple gray pants during the time since they left Illium. She enters the recreational room, and sits down by the table.

Nathan peers over his shoulder, chewing on his snack. He swallows. "So... What the hell?" He asks bluntly.

Vasquez opens the door to the rec room not long after Aylena enters, having seen her pass by. She remains there, not entering the room. "I think it's time we had a word." She nods for the asari to come with her out of the room.

Mendez is seated on the couch in the rec room. He glances up as Aylena enters, but quickly returns his attention to the datapad on his lap as Vasquez enters. Not his job to worry about this sort of thing.

Nathan glances at Vasquez and turns back around to idly chewing on his bar. He glances at the man sat next to him, but says nothing.

Aylena nods and stands up. "We do," she agrees. "Is Gren going to be joining us?" She starts walking out of the room.

Gren is currently on the bridge.

Vasquez walks out of the room once Aylena is following, heading towards the cargo hold. "No, that won't be necessary."

Mendez gives one more glance back as they leave. "I don't envy that asari..." he mutters.

Nathan mumbles an affirmative as he finishes off his snack. "Yep. The Chief seems like a scary woman."

That's an accurate assessment. She knows her stuff and doesn't take any shit.

Mendez continues looking over his datapad, swiping back and forth across it.

Nathan hums as he peers at the datapad. "Whatcha doing?"

Aylena follows Vasquez towards the cargo hold. "Is there a room on this vessel where we can speak in private?" she asks.

Mendez frowns, his brow furrowed as he glances over at the nosey man. His features soften slightly as he lets out a sigh. "If you must know, my sister sent me a message." he says, giving a glance back at the datapad, "I was just reading it."

The closest one would get to a private area is the medical room.

Nathan | "Ahh," he says with a nod, leaning back into his seat. "I see. Everything alright?"

Mendez blinks a couple times. "You're very intrusive." he says, matter-of-factly, "You realize that, right? Yes, everything is fine."

Vasquez heads through the cargo hold, towards the airlock. "Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem." She stops by the door to the medbay, nodding for Aylena to enter and then going in herself.

The med-bay is very bare bones, with only a medical bed to the right and a row of cabinets to the left. The closest representation for it would be is that matches the back of an ambulance for size and gear.

Nathan grins. "Yep," he says simply. "Well glad to hear it." He folds one leg over the other and turns away from Mendez.

Aylena steps inside the medical bay, casting a glance around before stepping aside to let the other woman through.

Vasquez crosses her arms, studying Aylena. "Alright, so let's hear it. We're fooled out here with a fake mission, forced to jump through hoops with the spacedock authorities, asked to go groundside with no intel to fight an organization that we still haven't been told anything about, except your claims about what they did to your business. I think we deserve some explanation."

Aylena turns towards the Chief. "For the record, I never hired you, that was between you and Gren," she says, "but I will explain myself regardless." She walks further into the room while she picks her words. She again turns to face Vasquez. "My plan assumed you arrived ahead of them and I were to fill you in myself," she says. "Something must have gone wrong, since their arrival coincided with yours."

Right... and this was necessary because of what? Were they monitoring your communications?

Mendez shrugs and returns to his datapad.

Nathan activates his omni-tool and idly taps away at it.

Aylena sighs. "I cannot say for sure, but to be on the safe side, I went with the assumption that they were capable of that," she says. "We used a very elaborate setup to communicate off-world, but I only made use of it to communicate with the Miner's Respite to ensure Gren got the packages."

Vasquez lets out a frustrated grunt. "Okay... and the people that were attacking you. I doubt they're too keen on Redrock after what happened back there. Tell me about them."

Aylena nods. "They are not a large operation, at least they weren't a year ago when I first encountered them," she says. "They are led by a turian called Farik Oritern. This whole mess started with him offering to handle security at my company. I declined, of course, since they had nothing to back up their high rates, and I wasn't looking to replace my security team."

Vasquez raises an eyebrow, maintaining her somewhat annoyed facade, but behind it it's not too hard to tell that she's relieved for some reason. "Sounds like they know how to hold a grudge. What's the name of the company? And... you said you were taking them to court?"

Aylena nods, again. "That is correct," she says. "There is a lot of bureaucracy involved in that, and it was important that nobody knew where I was in the meantime." She pauses, then adds, "Their name is Kanthus-Oritern Security Services."

Vasquez nods in return. "And you're still going to do that, I'm guessing? Do you think they might come after us?"

Aylena takes a few seconds to respond, frowning. "Yes, and I will leave Aite again when the court date is near," she says. "I do not know if they will, but for now I doubt it. The police will not let anyone else near that building for a while, and I am almost sure they will gather up anything we failed to destroy."

Vasquez considers Aylena's words for a moment, and then nods again, relaxing her stance a bit. "Alright... I expect our payment as well as a written statement on the circumstances of our help, in case any questions come our way from Illium."

Nathan closes down his omni-tool and springs to his feet. Without another word, he leaves the rec room and makes for the cargo bay. He whistles idly as he approaches the shuttle.

Jasper is still in stealth-snooze mode in the cockpit.

Nathan peers into the shuttle and suppresses a laugh. However, he knows better than to wake a sleeping man. He walks over to a nearby crate and drops onto it. He pulls off his launcher and starts to inspect it idly.

Aylena nods. "Of course," she says. "I will arrange that once we are in range of the comm buoy." She looks uncertain for a moment before she continues. "As for the statement, there is one issue," she says. "I can make it for you, but I need it be stored with a high level of security."

Of course.

Vasquez looks towards the door. "That's all for now. If you'll excuse me..." She starts towards it.

Aylena remain in the room, and enables her omni-tool. "I won't go far," she says with a faint chuckle. "You're not as terrifying as I was led to believe." There is a tiny hint of a joking tone in her voice.

Vasquez rolls her eyes on her way out, heading to the cargo hold and taking a seat in a secluded section.

Nathan offers a brief nod to Vasquez as she enters the cargo hold.

Aylena returns a few minutes later, making her way through the cargo bay without paying much attention to the others that are in there.

The remainder of trip is uneventful. They arrive on Aite many hours later, just in time to see first signs of sunrise. Aylena kept her word, and the payments cleared by the time the ship touched down on the Freedom Falls spaceport. She decided to handle it directly, transferring 110,000 to the agency, and 35,000 to Gren.

Once the ship arrived at Freedom Falls, Jasper took the shuttle back to Redrock Agency, along with anyone who needed a ride. Mendez, as usual, had little to say. After hitching a ride to HQ, showering and stashing his gear in his locker, Mendez returned home.

Nathan took the offered ride home. After a quick cleandown and check of his gear, he headed home. Gren declined the ride and simply trudged home, offering Aylena a nod before leaving.

Aylena tagged along with the shuttle to the Miner's Respite. Before leaving, she handed a unlabeled, unencased OSD to Vasquez, reminding her to store it securely without specifying what exactly is on it. She did thank Gren before they parted ways.
