#RedrockAgency – March 15, 2016
Jason enters the rec room once everyone has made their exit. Spotting the unattended cup of coffee on the table, he gives a quick glance around. No witnesses. The perfect crime! He non-chalantly makes a pass by the table and passes a look back towards the door. No reinforcements inbound. He quickly scoops up the coffee cup and moves to the other end of the room, slugging it back.
Jason is standing at the head of the conference room, fully armored, with his arms folded across his chest as he waits for the others to arrive. The screen is on but it's just solid black.
Jattic steps through the door, giving Jason a nod. Under one arm is his helmet. His Vindicator is holstered on his back. "Wolfe." he greets as he rounds the table and takes a seat, his red and black hardsuit making a loud thud as his gauntlet makes contact with the table when he sets his helmet down.
Jason returns the batarian's nod. "Just waiting on the others." he informs with a glance towards the now-open door.
Victoria walked into the conference room wearing her entire armor, her weapons on her back. "Hey fellas."
Jason quickly approaches Victoria as she makes her arrival. "Hey. You have the intel with you?" he asks, extending a gauntlet towards her, "Ship plans?"
Renala leaves her office in a full suit of armor, locking the door behind her. Her armor has a dark green color now instead of the blue it had, although it's been more than a month since she used her own equipment. She has her two SMGs clipped to each their thigh: Punisher and Locust. She enters the briefing room shortly after Victoria, patting her on the back. "Haven't seen you in a while," she says with a grin. "How's things?"
Victoria looks at Renala " Hey Ren. Things are good." She then turns Jason "Yeah I got the intel. We can discuss the plan now, if this is everyone."
Jason glances down at his gauntlet and then back at Victoria with a raised eyebrow. "O...kay. So, can I have the layout for the ship?" He closes and reopens his hand for emphasis. He gives a glance back at the screen behind him.
Victoria opens her omni-tool to send Jason the layout of the ship. "Here you go boss, that is current layout of the ship." Jason's omni-tool would indicate he now has a unread message
Jason gives a nod. "Thanks for showing up, Renala." he says idly as he lifts his forearm and activates his omni-tool. "Steve filled me in on his visit with the militia." he continues to explain as the layout suddenly appears on the screen behind him and his omni-tool interface disappears. He turns his attention to the asari with a sigh. "I can't say I appreciate you going and spilling
personal business to other people-..." he begins before rolling his shoulders in a shrug, "...But at least you kept it inside the agency. But I'm not an idiot. You still haven't told me what that whole ordeal was all about." he continues, not particularly interested in elaborating in front of the others. "I don't buy it that he just 'wanted to help a friend'. You could've just come to
me." He glances back at the screen to make sure everything is working properly before looking back at Renala, "But I'm not going to press the matter. He got us the info we were looking for, so for that, thank you. This skycar business is in yours and Briggs court for now. Don't forget what we talked about: What you do reflects on the agency whether you like it or not. If you and Briggs
can clean this little black mark up, we'll put it behind us, okay?" He gives a tilt of his head as he awaits her response to his olive branch of sorts.
Renala sighs. "Now's not the time, boss," she says, gesturing towards Victoria. "I do need to talk to you about that, yes, but let's worry about it after we got this job under control."
Nathan strides into the room, full armoured and helmeted. He rolls his shoulders and nods to the assembled, seeing... Well, pretty much all unfamiliar faces.
Victoria nods like she understands the situation when she clearly does not "Cool, now that the awkwardness is done. Can we get down to discussing the plan or are we gonna have some tea and biscuits?"
Jason rolls his eyes. "I'm trying to be fair here, alright? No need to be unappreciative. A simple yes or no would do..." he mutters. He gestures towards a seat as Nathan makes his entrance. "Take a seat, T-.... Tennhausen...?" he says, unsure if he's actually pronouncing the man's name correctly. "Vicky." he says, stepping aside to give the woman the floor.
Nathan chuckles as Jason butchers the pronunciation. "Call me Ten, boss," he says as he makes his way to a free seat.
Jason gives a nod. "Ten it is." he agrees. "I'm gonna let Victoria walk us through this for now. She knows the ins and outs of the ship."
Victoria claps her hands together and takes the floor, taking a spot next to the screen. "Well, as you can there are three levels of the ship. We will be meeting Austin and his team at the cargo bay door." She points to the cargo bay on the layout. "We might have a fight on our hands when we get there, so be ready."
Jason watches the screen as she speaks. "So they're going to allow us to board through the cargo bay?" he asks. "That makes things a whole lot easier..."
Renala simply gives a nod in response to Jason's question, but does not elaborate. She then looks at the screen, comitting the layout to memory.
"Cargo bay should be open. Austin is gonna make it look like him and a few others are making a supply ran." She confirms with Jason before turning back to the screen "That hostage I told you about Jason, should be in the med-bay."
Jason glances over the screen and reaches towards it, running a finger across the room labelled 'Med Bay'. "Second level." he says disapprovingly. "Upper level is where we need to be. Armory. Cockpit. Command info center. These are our targets." he continues, dragging his index finger over each room as he lists it. "If we try to take control of the middle level we may be fighting off
a whole crew to possibly get one more gun on our side. That's if he's even in any shape to fight. If we take the upper level, they'll have no real choice but to surrender." Once he finishes speaking, he glances over at Ten and nods.
Yeah, I'm in agreement with the boss. What I was going to ask is if we could attack from two angles? Possibly through a service hatch? Throwing all our eggs into one basket seems... Risky.
"Taking that hatches would take to long, sticking together and clearing the Cargo bay and top level would go faster." She states to group.
"We don't need to worry about the engineers since the head of the engineers is on our side." She takes a breath "They will have themselves locked in the engineering bay for their own protection."
Jason gives a slight nod, referring back to the map. "Clearing in general isn't going to be possible. We don't have a large enough team. We just need to move quickly. Disembarking on the elevator is going to be the danger zone for us. It's practially a kill-box." He points at Renala as she speaks and nods once more, "Splitting up won't really be possible, but you need to keep in mind
that this is going to be close quarters. I mean really close quarters. Taking a hostile ship isn't like your typical engagement, and if we're all bunched up we're just going to be tripping over one another. That's when mistakes happen. Friendly fire." He gives a shake of his head, "We don't want that. So once we board the elevator, we'll split into two fireteams but remain within
earshot. One team disembarks into the armory, the other into the hallway and holds that point until the armory team has secured the room. Once that business is done, we'll meet up in the hall and push on to CIC." He glances at Victoria with a shrug, "From there it's just the cockpit. That's my suggestion." he finishes, deferring to Vicky.
Victoria nods to what Jason's objection "We can send some of Austin's guys before we all head up to the armoury. Have them take it by surprise."
Jason stares at the map for a few moments longer, nodding slightly. "How many can we count on to join us?" he asks, studying the layout. "Getting the armory is pretty important. But it would be nice to be able to leave Austin and his team back to maintain control of it in case anyone from the middle deck decides to try and make their way up to us."
"Well, there is Austin, a krogan and three others. We might need the krogan for some of the close quarters fighting, so we can leave some in the armoury to protect it." She states to giving her approval of that idea.
Jason gives a couple nods and claps his gauntlets together as he turns back to the rest of the crew. "Any questions? Suggestions? Concerns?"
Jason glances to Renala. "That's a possibility. But that's not my field of expertise. While they still have control of the ship would they be able to override that, Renala?" he asks with a glance to the asari.
"Engineers are focusing on making sure the ship cannot take off." She looks to Renala "Think you can shut down the elevator?"
Renala frowns. "I'm going to be honest with you," she says. "I don't know the first thing about how the tech is wired up in that ship. I could try find some weakness in the network and try get control, but I have nothing to go on here." She pauses. "Can you get me in touch with the engineering team during our approach?"
Jason glances back at the map for a moment. "So we're all clear, then? We board through the cargo bay, hit whatever defenses they have there hard. Move through the repair bay. Rendezvous with Vicky's inside man, Austin and his team. Take the elevator to the upper deck, secure the armory and the main corridor. Depending on what info Vicky can get out of the engineering team, either
Renala will lock down the elevator, or Austin's team will guard it along with the armory. Either way we push through CIC and down the corridor to the cockpit." He looks over the room. "Clear?"
I'm hazarding a guess that they'll try to slow us down by sealing bulkheads and blast doors. Hacking them may take too long. Should I bring breaching charges? They're shaped so that only the doors locking mechanisms will be destroyed in the process. It should keep collateral to a minimum.
Jason gives a nod. "Absolutely. Primary form of entry should be Renala if she's confident that she can get those doors open in a reasonable amount of time. If not, it never hurts to have our own all-purpose-highly-explosive key on hand. I hope I don't need to point out that this is a ship. I looked over your file. It looks like you know your shit, so I'm not going to lecture you in
Jason folds his arms across his chest and lets out a deep breath. "While she's right, the most important thing is we all get through this. The safety of the ship doesn't come at the cost of the safety of our people. These are a bunch of psychopath, scumbag, degenerate pirates that survive by preying on the weak-...." He glances over at Vicky with an apologetic tilt of his head. "You're
alright. Sort of..... Sometimes." he pokes with a lopsided grin before returning his attention to the rest of the room. "So be careful and watch out for one another. Now let's go get ourselves a ship!"
Jattic scoops his helmet up off the table as he stands up. "Understood." he acknowledges as he starts towards the head of the room and exits through the door, turning to head to the hangar.
Renala stands up with a nod, following the batarian out of the room. She picks up her helmet that she had placed by the door to her office, and starts making her way towards the hangar.
Nathan stands and grins under his helm. "Jasper flying again? I need to get some more experience in the cockpit."
Nathan looks to Victoria. "Really? Well, pleased to meet you. Mind if I ride shotgun? I've had some piloting practice in the past, but I'm hoping to hone it back."
Victoria makes her way to the hangar putting her visor on, she looks to the new guy "Stay in the back for this one. I can fly it by myself." She pauses for a second "Faster you guys can deploy and meet up with Austin, the better."
Jasper is running all of the pre-flight checks. As the group approaches, he climbs out of the open door and steps aside. "Take good care a' her!" he says to Vicky as she passes by.
Jason heads back towards his office for a few moments before making his way back to the hangar with his helmet under his arm. On his back is now his Revenant and a folded up Katana, care of Mr. Mendez. His pistol is holstered on his thigh. He climbs onto the shuttle and takes the seat closest to the door.
Jattic feigns as if he's going to punch Jasper as he passes by and lets out a deep, gutteral chuckle as the older man flinches. "I believe that's my point." he brags as he climbs into the shuttle and takes a seat near the middle.
Jasper frowns and turns his nose up, slapping Jattic on the back. "Uh huh..." he responds to Vicky, "Take care a' this ugly mother waffle while yer' at it."
Renala takes a seat by the door and puts her helmet underneath the seat. "You've been spending months preparing for this," she says. "What's another a half a minute?"
Jason waits until everyone is in and then taps the interface beside the door, causing it to slide shut. He stands from his seat and makes his way over to the cockpit, standing in the doorway. "Alright, Vicky. Get us there. Make sure your people know we're coming and know to identify themselves so we don't open up on them when we land, cause we're coming in hot."
Victoria just nods at Jason and begins to take off "Alright, we shall be there as fast as I can get us there."
Jattic begins to harness in as the shuttle lifts up. He glances over at the unfamiliar face in the shuttle, Ten, and merely nods in greeting.
Jattic nods once more. "Welcome human." he greets plainly in return, about as politely as a mildly-racist remark from a batarian can be.
Renala looks towards Nathan. "I'm Renala T'Iavay," she introduces herself. "Good to meet you, Tennhausen. Come by my office if we make it out of this alive and I'll get you set up with the right systems."
Nathan looks to the asari and nods. "Guys, call me Ten, please. It'll be easier for everyone!" He says with a laugh. "Seriously though, I look forward to working with you lot."
