#Hospital – December 16, 2016

Lema was brought to the hospital and treated for her injuries. Her shoulder has been fixed and her lower arm has been put in a cast to protect the wrist after it was put into place. Her broken rib has been scanned to make sure there is no need for surgery to address the bleeding. Redrock has been asked to stay out until treatment is done. Halisi has just finished medicating her to soften the pain of the multiple injuries, and she's

currently standing next to the asari, offering a small smile. "That should help. How do you feel?"

Lema waits a moment to answer that question, feeling the difference. "Better," she says. "Much... better." She turns her gaze away from the doctor to look at her cast, but she doesn't say anything.

Halisi 's smile grows slightly, and she pats Lema's shoulder. "Your father will be here soon, but while we wait my friends would like to have a word with you about what happened, is it alright if they come in?"

Lema frowns, but after some consideration, she gives a nod. "That's fine," she says. "I do owe them." The mercenaries may make her nervous, but at least they don't mean her harm.

Halisi nods. "Thank you, Lema." she says before taking a step back and typing a message into her omni-tool, notifying Jason that the asari is ready to talk.

The door slides open and Jason steps inside with Leah in tow. He's still in his hardsuit, but Leah- having been picked up just recently while Halisi worked on Lema's injuries- is just wearing a pair of jeans, clunky black boots, and her winter jacket. Through the doorway Mendez can be seen sitting in a chair against the wall across the hall.

Jason steps aside once in the room, opting to remain near the door. He gives an appreciative nod to Halisi.

Leah approaches the asari's bedside and takes a seat on the chair next to it, offering the girl a smile. "Hey, Lema..." she greets, looking over the cast. Her smile fades briefly as she lets out a short sigh, "...I heard about what happened. Are you alright?"

Halisi returns Jason's nod and then steps back a bit further, giving Leah and Lema some space.

Lema smiles briefly at seeing Leah among the mercenaries, it fading as soon as she starts to think about her question. "Hey," she says flatly. "I'm... fine. I don't know what would have happened if your people weren't there."

Lema seems to avoid looking at Jason, still feeling nervous and ashamed about what he said.

Leah gives a brief glance Jason's way as her smile returns before looking to Lema again. "Well, thankfully they were there, so we don't have to worry about that. And we have someone sitting out in the hallway to look over you and make sure nothing like that happens again while you're here." she continues, trying to alleviate the girl's worries. "My friends and I want to help you, Lema. I hope you know that. But we can't do that if

we don't know how... Is there anything you can tell us about the person who attacked you...?"

Lema nods, looking away while she thinks her words through. "She... was very angry with me because I... didn't do my job in the Miner's Respite," she says, "because I didn't shoot... Janysa."

Leah glances back at Jason briefly once again before looking to Lema once more. She had went over the file on her way to the hospital just to refresh everything. "She? Do you mean Daina...?" she asks.

Jason remains in place, listening but deciding better than to ask any questions of his own. Leah seems to have it under control.

Lema is quick to shake her head, not wanting to keep her last memory of Daina in mind any longer than she has to. "No, she's dead," she says. "The one who tried to kill me didn't show her face or introduce herself,... but her armor looked like Daina's."

Leah nods slowly. "...Okay." she says simply, allowing a moment to pass before pressing on with her questions, "Lema, what can you tell us about these people?" she asks, "Do you know where they are? Who they are? Anything at all that we might be able to follow up on...? Right now we don't have a whole lot to go on and anything you could tell us would help."

Lema frowns. "I... don't know," she says, still looking away. She tries to draw on all she remembers from the angry asari. "She's upset about her friends dying, said it was my fault. She's also about to lose everything,... she told the turian."

Leah tilts her head to the side as she listens. "...Lose everything?" she repeats, giving a confused glance to Jason before continuing. "So a turian was there, too? Were you able to get either of their names?"

Lema shakes her head. "No, your turian," she says. "I didn't get any names." She brings up her uninjured hand, putting the index and thumb close to each other. "I think I was this close to hitting her head when I was... uh, sent flying."

Leah sighs at the lack of information, but forces a smile back into face as to not upset Lema and gives her a nod. "Alright, Lema..." she says, reaching out to give the asari a quick and gentle pat on the shoulder, "...You've been really helpful. Try not to worry about any of this and get some rest, alright? Because we've still got your training to worry about once you're feeling better!" she reminds, hoping to keep the young asari's

worries in check. "We're going to get to the bottom of this. I promise. If you need anything, just let the doctor know." she continues, passing a smile Halisi's way, "She's a good friend of mine and she's going to take real good care of you. And you have my contact information, too! Don't hesitate to call if you need me!"

Halisi offers a small smile and a nod to Lema in confirmation of Leah's words.

((into place*))

Lema nods, giving a slight smile at the change of topic. "I can't wait to start training," she says, though her flat tone of voice doesn't seem to agree with her. She does frown after a few seconds, though, and she looks away. "I'll have to ask for a ride next time, because dad's never gonna let me walk to town alone again."

Leah snickers and nods. "You should have said something. We can have someone pick you up next time, alright?" she offers, not bothering to consult Jason first, "It's not too far by shuttle. Shouldn't be a problem."

Jason doesn't object to Leah's offer. More busywork for Jasper is never a bad thing. He takes a step forward, offering the asari a smile of his own, "Thanks for your help, Lema..." he says, despite it not being very helpful. But that's not her fault, "I've gotta get going so we can start looking into this, but like Leah said, we've got someone who is going to stay here with you. They'll be right outside the room." he offers before

stepping back and moving towards the door.

Halisi looks to Lema. "I need to get back to work now, but your father said he would be here in a little while. If you need anything, this room is being monitored by the hospital VI." she says before taking out her datapad, writing a note.

Lema lies down while the doctor speaks, giving a nod when she finishes. "Got it," she says. "So, um... I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but how long do I need this cast on?"

Jason gives a short snicker and a shake of his head as he hears Lema's question. Yep. Been there. He exits the room and stops to have a quick chat with Mendez outside of the room.

Halisi sighs. "It will need to stay on for a month to make sure your wrist heals properly." she says in response to the all-too-familiar question.

Lema raises her brows. She was expecting a few days, not a whole month. "Oh," she says. "I'll... get used to it, I guess. Thank you." She was grateful for the help, for being alive, but being unable to use her right hand for a month was still bad news for the right-handed asari.
