Gisle| The pistol does not have any visible damage, and if it's possible to check, the clip within it is full. As for the hallway, it seems empty, a torch illuminating it well enough. There is no toher sound than the occasional muffled speaking, but the faintness of it makes it extremely difficult to pinpoint.
#Rampage – November 24, 2013
Steve steps out, slowly, into the hallway with his newly found weapon and checks his surroundings, assessing his options.
Gisle| There is a door near the end of the hallway, along the wall to their right. Aside from that and where they came from, the hallway doesn't seem to have any other exits of any shape.
Steve signals to Renala, nodding at the door. He keeps his pistol trained on the door as he approaches it, listening for any hint at what may be behind it.
Renala walks over to the door, and takes position on the far side of the doorframe. She doesn't open the unlocked door yet, instead waiting for Steve to take position, as well.
Gisle| The sound of the voices grow a little louder as they near the door, and it sounds like they are not near the door. While t's impossible to make out the words, the tone of the conversation seems a bit tense.
Renala nods acknowledging, and the familiar biotic shimmer forms around her. Without further ado, she presses the button on the interface, silently praying there not be too many inside.
Steve leans into the doorway slightly upon Renala's acknowledgement, aiming the Predator at the closed door as he waits for it to spring open.
Gisle| The door opens quickly enough, but like any other door, it's not quiet in doing so. The room beyond is a quite large cave room. There is a throne made out of prefab pieces and wood in the center of it, but it appears some of it has broken off. The room is well lit by toches. Three humans, all three males, looks towards the opening door. One of them has a Shuriken, while the others have Predators. The one with the submachine gun approaches the door. "Who's there?"
Renala remains by the side of the doorframe, keeping quiet while deferring to Steve to make a decision.
Steve takes the opportunity presented by catching the three men off guard to quickly squeeze the trigger three times, aiming his first two at the man with the Shuriken's chest, and the third at his head. He quickly leans back into cover afterwards.
Gisle| The shots hit their mark, and the human fall on his back, limp. The other two draws their weapons, and one of them decides to speak up, "Just sayin', you might wanna be back in your cells when our krogan friend gets there," he says. "He's not the most mild-tempered guy I've met." Both of the humans have their guns aimed at Steve.
Renala gets out after Steve, and sends a stasis field towards one of the humans (rightmost) before aiming her weapon towards the other.
Steve remains in cover for the moment while Renala is occupying the doorway, not particularly interested in giving the bandits more targets than needed at any given time. "That right?" he calls back, "From what I've seen, it sounds like we're doing your little krogan buddy a favor."
Gisle| The stasis field makes contact, and the rightmost bandit is locked in place by it. The other human fires four shots towards Renala before the clip runs out. "'The fuck you mean with that?" he asks while reloading the pistol.
Renala fires a burst with her locust at the leftmost human before getting behind cover as the shields are nearly depleted. While they recharge, she builds up biotic energy.
Gisle| One of the bullets seem to strike the human's arm, making him lose his weapon on the ground, but that's about the only hit from the burst as the rest impact against the cave wall behind. He crouches down and picks it up with his other hand. The stasis'd human remains fixed in place.
Steve doesn't respond to the bandit's shouts, instead crouching down and dropping to a knee, hoping to catch the bandits off guard once again by making a lower target. He leans out and aims a set of rounds at the bandit as he scurries to pick up his weapon, once again going for the trifecta, two at the chest, one at the head.
Gisle| The bullets hit, and the human fall over. He remains motionless, most likely dead. The stasis field around the other bandit dissipates. Not being trained to handle it, he stumbles forward and falls, his hands flat against the rocky floor.
Steve steps into the room and non-chalantly places another round into the motionless bandit he recently shot, just for good measure as he approaches the un-stasis'd bandit and aims the Predator at him. "Hands up." he orders.
Gisle| He reaches for the weapon, but decides against it after hearing Steve's order. He slowly gets up, hands held visible before him as soon as he regains his balance.
Steve smirks and circles around the bandit, standing behind him. "Smart choice. Our gear. Where is it?"
Gisle| He glances towards the door (which is opposite the door they entered through). "The put it in the armory last I heard," he says. "Not sure what's left of it."
Gisle| The man thinks for a moment before answering, "None... unless the krogan's done down there. Rest of 'em went with the boss to catch the idiots who tried to run off with his stuff."
Steve fires a single round into the back of the man's head and turns on his heel, heading straight to the door implicated by the bandit. "Looks like we may have caught a break."
Renala nods. "Yeah, seems so," she says, "but I'm worried about the krogan. He's still in here, are we to believe them." She follows after Steve and gets into position to the left of the door frame.
Steve sighs and takes a position on the right of the door. "If he's in there, we'll deal with it. One way or another..."
Renala frowns. "That's easier said than done." She takes a deep breath before pressing on the interface to open the door.
Gisle| The door open with quite a groan compared to the rest of them. Poorly maintained, maybe. Beyond it is the main chamber. There's a sturdy metal floor with a hatch in the center of it (unlocked), but a ladder leads up to a similar ceiling. As with the previous floor, there are three other doors, all locked. Along the walls are crates, twelve in total, but the positioning imply they're more used as table and chairs rather than storage. None are open, but each of them has clear affordances pertaining to opening by removing the top surface. There are nobody inside the room. On another note, the faint muffled sound of rain may be heard above them.
Steve quickly sweeps his weapon over the room. Once satisfied that nobody else is in the room, he approaches one of the crates. "Sounds like we're just below the surface." he says as he lifts the lid of the crate.
Renala nods, agreeing. "Let's get our gear and leave." She heads over to the door to their right, omni-tool coming to life. She quicky finds the correct program when she's by the door.
Steve slowly lowers the lid back into place. "Just junk." he mutters as he approaches the door and stacks up alongside it as he has with previous doors.
Gisle| | The door's interface turns green, and opens. Beyond is a quite small room, with a weapons rack on the opposite walls and oblong tables along the oters. Weapons parts are strewn around on the floor and tables, but no weapons could be seen. On the table along the left wall is Renala's backpack and Steve's armor. The krogan armor Darsk was wearing is there, as well, but stoved in a corner and missing some parts. There's no sign of the equipment used to detain the animal, and Iressa's belongings.
Steve quickly makes his way to the familiar armor and goes straight to the omni-tool port, checking to make sure it's still slotted in.
Gisle| Renala would find most of the content untouched, though anything like clips, grenades, weapons would be gone; as well as anything seemingly edible. As for everything else, it's untouched.
Steve breathes a sigh of relief and quickly moves on to checking the storage compartment for his medication.
Gisle| Aside from anything edible (not counting the pills), medi-gel, clips, grenades or weapons, none of the content has been taken.
Renala frowns, but closes the backpack and puts it on her back. "Did you find your meds?" she asks, sounding worried.
Steve grabs the small bottle and tears the cap off with his teeth as he sets aside his pistol. He dumps a large number of pills into the palm of his hand and tosses them back into his mouth. He leans a hand against the wall as he nods in response to Renala.
Renala sighs relieved. "Then let's get going before the krogan gets to us," she says as she makes her way back to the main chamber.
Steve begins putting his armor on, feeling as if a large weight had been lifted from him, if a bit exhausted from the events of the day.
Renala stops beside the door, leaning against the wall. "I wonder if Malarus will still give us a ride without Maria being with us."
Steve shakes his head as he pulls on his upper body armor, grunting as it aggravates his ribs, causing them to throb once again. "He won't have a choice."
Steve finishes adjusting his armor and grabs his helmet. "He's not going to just leave us for no reason... We're his responsibility. This is his job." he says before putting on the helmet and locking it into place. "We'll tell him she's dead." he continues, his voice taking on a metallic tone through the helmet, "It's most likely the truth anyways."
Renala nods. "Yeah, she could still be in here somewhere, or dragged with those who left." She pushes herself off the wall and walks out of the room. "You want to go up first?"
Steve nods. "Yeah... One moment." he says and returns to the room with the three bandits. A moment later he reappears through the door with the Predator holstered on his thigh and a Shuriken in his hand. "Might as well be prepared." he says before starting up the ladder.
Steve looks down at Renala and gives a slight nod in return. Reaching up, he pushes the hatch open slightly and peers through the crack.
Gisle| A cold gust of wind is the first thing he would notice, and the rain. The area ontop seems to be flat, probably the top of the cliff the other door went out of. It's not possible to see the edge in front of them, but the edge on the left and right side seems to be close enough. It's raining heavily. The immediate area around the hatch seems to be covered by pebbles and rocks to hide the metal surface fro aerial view.
Steve chuckles loudly and tosses the hatch open, climbing out and finding his footing. "Get up here!" he shouts down, "We did it!"
Renala quickly climbs the ladder, a smile forming as she feels the rain pouring down on her, along with the fresh air. When outside, she looks around in wonder, not knowing what to say as it all seemed so bleak just minutes ago.
Steve takes a seat on the rock, nearly collapsing onto his rear end from exhaustion. He removes his helmet and sets it aside, letting the pouring rain hit his face.
Renala closes the hatch again, and enables her omni-tool to alter the lock to not respond to the previous code. "Goddess," she says. "It's good to finally be out of here."
Steve leans back on the rock and stares straight up. "Never thought I would be so happy to get caught in the rain."
Gisle| The hatch's electronic lock is easily manipulated, and its interface turns red in response to the asari's tampering.
Renala stands back up. "You and me both," she says before enabling her comms. "Hello. Anyone hear me?"
Renala | "If we could raise him from down there, we should be," she says before speaking into the comms again, "We made it out ontop with out stuff. Are you two okay? And have you heard from Malarus?"
Steve nearly leaps to his feet as he hears Iressa's voice. He moves closer to Renala to better hear over the rain.
Iressa (Comms): That's great. Yes, we seem to be holding up alright, though he didn't seem to be able to help us from where we are. He suggested we try to make our way back to the landing site. Where are you two headed now?
Renala | "We're trying to find out where we are on the map," she says while taking a few steps towards the edge on the side that would be behind someone looking from atop the ladder. "So that we can call Malarus to pick us up, and then look for you two."
Steve sighs loudly upon hearing that Iressa and Darsk still haven't managed to join up with Malarus. He follows Renala to the edge of the cliff and stares off into the darkness.
Gisle| From there, they can see the river going past them on their left in the forward direction. It seems to branch out into smaller streams as it gets less visible. Other than that, it's not easy to see. Behind them, the cliff stretches on for at least half a mile before a turn to the right.
Steve chuckles dryly and shakes his head. "Nodded off. We're down here fighting for our lives, and this asshole 'nodded off'?"
Renala frowns. "Yeah, but let's be careful; he's our only way out," she says before bringing up the map on her omni-tool, trying to compare the river with it..
Gisle| By the looks of it, it seems they're on the cliff's southern edge about 25% south of the top of the map, 45% across from the left bound.
Renala glances between the map and the river, humming in contemplation. "I think we're here," she says, ponting to the cliff north of the center of the map.
Steve rubs at his forehead and turns away from the cliff, returning to the rock and picking his helmet back up.
Renala nods to herself after another glance at the sorroundings. "The cliff north of the map's center," she says into the coms. "I'm almost certain that's where we are."
Steve returns to Renala's side carrying his helmet under his arm. A smile crosses his face as he overhears Malarus. "We're almost out of this shithole, Ren..."
Renala nods as she takes a deep breath, seemingly not caring at all about the heavy rainfall. "Yeah," she drawls. "It all seemed so bleak just... and hour ago."
Sometimes you just have to push that feeling in the pit of your stomach aside and keep moving forward.
Steve puts a hand on Renala's shoulder and gives it a quick squeeze. "Thank you. I meant what I said earlier. I won't forget what you've done for me."
Renala gives a small smile before looking away, out in the distance ahead of them. "I couldn't let you go in on your own," she says. "The thought of that just didn't feel... right."
Gisle| The shuttle may be spotted in the sky nearby, on their 2 o' clock. It is probably still 10-15 seconds before it reaches their location.
Renala smiles. "I'm... glad I could hep," she says. After noticing the shuttle, she waves her omni-tool's ornage projection above herself as a beacon.
Steve moves his hand from her shoulder and raises his helmet in the air, waving it back and forth frantically, knowing full well that it's probably too dark to make a difference.
Gisle| Malarus pilots the shuttle around and have it stop in the air with the door just shorter than a foot away from the cliff's edge. The shuttle door presses outward before sliding towards the back. The turian stands inside with his weapon at the ready, but aimed downward, but he looks over the two with some suspicion.
Steve steps into the shuttle and reaches a hand out to Renala. "Took your sweet time getting here." he snips.
Gisle| "I'm here now," the turain says before attaching his weapon to his armor. "I couldn't track you down with nothing to go on."
Steve sighs and takes a seat, setting his helmet on the floor. Let's just get out of here. It's only a matter of time before these psychopaths come looking for us.
Gisle| The turian nods and returns to the pilot's compartment, and closes the door behind him. The shuttle doors closes automatically before it starts moving. "I'll fly low along the river," he announces over the comms. "Did you two travel towards the delta, or with the cliff wall on your right?"
Renala places the backpack under the seat next to Steve and sits down with a relieved sigh. She leans back a little and closs her eyes.
Steve begins removing his upper body armor, grunting and groaning as he slowly releases the latches. He cringes as a shap pain shoots through his side.
Renala leaves her armor on, not seeming to mind it that much. She remains quiet, finally relaxing for the first time since she woke up.
Steve sets his armor on the ground and begins looking over his side, poking at the large patch of deep purple skin.
