#Hospital – October 2, 2015
Li is soundly asleep at Ilyna's side, highly reluctant to leave the room the asari is in. Both her arms are wrapped around the asari's left arm, clinging onto her as she sleeps.
Ilyna wakes up, and turns her head over to Li. Realizing she's still sleeping, she starts to carefully withdraw her hands from the clinging child.
Skythix | Was not in her bed when Ilyna wakes up. Strange considering the doctor had given them all strict instructions not to leave the room. Her monitoring equipment wasn't there either. Skythix had walked down the hallway outside of their room and found a window at the end of the hallway to look out of. Any excuse to get on her feet and do something.
Li grasps for the arm in her sleep, but when it's no longer there she mumbles quietly and curls up a bit.
An asari nurse is heading down the hallway when she spots Skythix, frowning and heading up to her. "Excuse me, miss? You can't be out of your bed."
Ilyna looks at her for a while to ascertain that she's still asleep, a small smile visible. She then moves to the bed's edge and places her feet on the ground. Seeing the turian's absense made her curious, as she knew it was likely her out and about against doctor's orders. FIguring she shouldn't disturb the people still asleep, she stands up, which cause her to wince slightly at the short bout of pain from one of her wounds. The asri fidgets
with her gown to make sure it's covering where it should before starting to make her way to the doorway.
Skythix closed her eyes slowly and let out a tired sigh. She had barely slept at all in the last few days and the smalls part around her eyes looked darker because of it. She knew someone was going to find her eventually but she was hoping to have more time. She turned around with a droopy smile as she tried to appear chipper. "Oh no no. I think there's a misunderstanding. The doctor said I
can walk around for a little bit to stretch my legs." Her voice was raspy like she hadn't talked in a while. "I, uh... The doctor also said I could go further with a buddy! I'm just waiting for them here." She spread her mandibles in a grin to try and mask her lie.
The nurse crosses her arms, looking unamused. "No. No she didn't. Get back in your room, now. You are not healed enough to be walking around."
Ilyna starts walking down the hallway when she sees the turian speaking to a nurse. "Good morning," she says when within earshot of them.
Skythix knew the nurse wasn't going to fall for it but it was worth the try. However, she was surprised to see Ilyna walking towards them down the hall. Wait, was she the only one with the no walking around order? "Oh, hey, look it's my chaperone!" She said with a grin to the nurse before waving over Ilyna. "Good morning, walking buddy! Glad to see you could finally make it." She motioned
The nurse sighs loudly. "Both of you. Back in your beds now. We have enough to deal with right now without making sure our gunshot patients don't break their medi-gel bonds or go into shock. So shoo, back to the room! Dr. Halisi will be by after breakfast to check up on you."
Ilyna can't help but give a soft laugh, but a sheepish smile shows up after the asari speaks. "Let's just go back for now," she says, deciding to play along with turian's con. "We can clear up this misunderstanding with Dr. Halisi later."
Skythix let out an exaggerated sigh and lifted her hands palm up in a giving up fashion. "Whatever you say..." She mumbles and starts walking back to their room with Ilyna next to her. "Thanks for trying at least." She said quietly to the asari.
The nurse nods to herself. "You'll be alright to walk again soon. The doctor will give you an update later, I'm-..." She's interrupted as another voice calls for her down the hall, and she curses under her breath, taking a moment to make sure they head back for the room before jogging down the hall in the opposite direction, going towards the voice.
Ilyna gives a small smile. "Do any of them fall for it?" she asks, sounding curious. She looks into the room once they're back.
Skythix opened the door for them both when she got there. Her own smile faded away to a more sullen look. "No," She said plainly. "I've tried four times already." Her voice sounded strained at the confession. She hobbled over to her bedside and sat down on the edge, hooking the monitoring garbage back up to her body.
Ilyna sighs. "It's just a few more days now," she says before taking a seat on her bedside, careful not to disturb Li. "I'm looking forward to it, too."
Skythix finished hooking herself back up and shook her head gently. "Only a few days now?" She let out a rueful laugh. "I feel like I've been here for weeks already." She used the heel of her palms to rub at her eyes. If Ilyna was paying attention, she'd have noticed that Skythix was always awake when she was or at least not in her bed in her minute escape attempts. She was also the last
Ilyna is usually the first one to attempt sleep, but the ambient noise and her vulnerabe situation made her slow to fall asleep. "Are you having trouble sleeping?" she asks with a concerned tilt of her head.
Skythix nods solemnly. "It's the hospital, I swear. I haven't been able to sleep more than a couple of hours a day. I didn't even bother trying last night." This was about the time when she'd be hitting stims to keep her awake. Her willpower could only take her so far. "I keep having these... These nightmares that I've never had before." Her voice sounded mad but it was at herself.
Ilyna frowns. "Have you talked to Dr. Halisi about it?" she asks. "Sleepless nights always feel like they're never going to end, so I can't imagine that helping when you're eager to be elsewhere."
Skythix shook her head. "I can't tell her." She said quickly. "I-I... I don't want her to keep me here any longer than I have to." He looked up at Ilyna with a defeated look. "I can't stand being here anymore." Her voice came out strained again.
Ilyna tilts her head. "She has the best intentions," she says, "What if not getting enough rest impedes your recovery so it prolongs your stay?" A sigh follows. "I don't think you stand to lose anything by asking for the help you need."
Skythix gripped the sides of her head with a frustrated look. "I don't care!" Her voice cracked since she started to yell but tried to keep her voice down. "I can't keep having those dreams and they started since I've been in here. I hate hospitals. She then covered her face with her hands as her shoulders shook, a sob coming to her. She was always the pinnacle of turian stoicism but she
Ilyna stands up, and walks over to the turian's bed. "I... I'm sorry to hear that," she says. She sits down beside beside her. "Do you want to talk about your dreams?"
Skythix watched the asari come over to her bed with a hesitant eye but ultimately didn't stop her. Maybe if she talked about it with someone else other than Halisi it would help and keep her on her leave date. She took in a deep breath before she spoke. "It's..." She did a double take from Ilyna to her own lap. "It's the same room that I had a psych evaluation when I was still in the military."
She paused with a small shiver. "The doctor asks me the same questions about myself and then people from my past appear in the room with the same wounds they had when they died." Speaking was getting harder and harder to her. "A figure shoots me in the end and I watch the room fill with blood as I bleed out. It feels so real." If a turian could cry she would be bawling.
