Vasquez is sitting in her office, going through information on her computer terminal. Once she got started she couldn't help but keep working, and she's now waiting for Jessica to arrive after sending a message to the mercenary, asking her to come in to talk. (Tyranniac)

Cynthia has just left Vasquez' office after having a brief word with her friend, and she's now walking the halls in search of Jason. (Tyranniac)

Jason is currently in the training room, jogging on some exercise equipment.

Jessica arrives for her meeting with Vasquez a while after receiving the message, having been in no rush to handle this. Dressed in a pair of cargo pants, a white tanktop, white sneakers and a cap, she approaches the woman's office and taps the interface, far from excited about this meeting. (Jason_Wolfe)

Cynthia makes her way up the stairs, popping in to the rec room to see if there's anyone in there. (Tyranniac)

Vasquez turns her gaze away from the screen as the door opens. She pushes her keyboard aside and crosses her hands after gesturing for Jessica to take a seat. (Tyranniac)

Jessica glances towards the chair and lets out a deep sigh as she approaches it. She folds her arms across her chest as she slumps into the chair, glaring across the desk at Vasquez. She waits to hear what the woman has to say, making no attempt to initiate conversation after their previous encounter. (Jason_Wolfe)

Nathan is sat in the rec room, completely engrossed in a showing of Armax Arsenal Arena. He doesn't notice the door opening.

Vasquez studies Jessica with a frown, eventually letting out a quiet sigh. "It's been brought to my attention that you performed well during the ExoGeni expedition." she starts, without saying anything else immediately. (Tyranniac)

Jessica cocks an eyebrow, not expecting such an opening from Vasquez. Caught off-guard, she merely shrugs sheepishly at first, but it's not long before her rough shell returns. "I-... Of course I did." she says matter-of-factly. (Jason_Wolfe)

Cynthia enters the rec room, heading over to the kitchen only to find that to her disappointment there are no more donuts. She gives a shrug and goes to stand behind the couch, studying the action on the screen with crossed arms. "So, do you spend all your free time at work, or what...?" (Tyranniac)

Nathan | There are currently four humans battling it out against a wave of geth troopers. They aren't doing very well. Nathan starts slightly at the sudden voice, looking over his shoulder at Cynthia. "Well, pretty much, yeah. There's always work to be done," he says with a gentle shrug. He looks back to the screen. "But given that my arm is broken, 'tis a weeeee

bit harder than usual..." He then chuckles softly and gestures to the screen. "Plus, this place has a bigger screen than at mine to watch triple A."

Vasquez grunts. "Of course, that doesn't change the fact that you lied about your background. But since... the others..." she manages, having been on the verge of admitting she's doing this on Jason's urging. "...are happy with your performance, I'd like to give you a chance to explain yourself." (Tyranniac)

Cynthia gives a nod and a small chuckle. "Ahh, the screen, that explains it." Her gaze lingers on the fight for a moment before she pats Nathan on the shoulder. "I've gotta have a word with Jason, but I'll be back. Don't work too hard while I'm gone, yeah?" she says before turning to leave the room. (Tyranniac)

Nathan chuckles and offers her a small wave. "I'll try not to!" He quips before settling down once again to watch a human get decked by a trooper.

Cynthia enters the training room after consulting Fergus as to Jason's location, putting her arms on her hips as she stands by the threadmill he's on. "Was wondering where you'd run off to. Workin' up a sweat, Jace?" (Tyranniac)

Jessica frowns quietly across the room at Vasquez for a number of moments, going out of her way to make it as uncomfortable as possible before finally speaking up. "What do you want me to say? I lied because I needed the credits. You wouldn't have hired me if I didn't have some-... fancy background, mmm? So yes, I lied." Her frown turns into a full-on scowl as she shifts in her seat. Her gaze lowers to the ground and (Jason_Wolfe)

she gives a slight shrug of her shoulders before continuing. "It was the first time I left this miserable planet since my parents brought me here..." she admits softly, sounding angry at herself for even sharing that much with Vasquez, "If I told you this, would you have hired me?" She shakes her head, not giving Vasquez a chance to even respond, "Of course you wouldn't. I tell you I grew up in Adrasteia, and (Jason_Wolfe)

you've already passed judgement on me before the words leave my mouth, yes? But I know what I'm capable of. Nobody was in any danger because of me." (Jason_Wolfe)

Jason continues jogging in place as Cynthia approaches, giving her a wave. "Linda run you off already?" he asks with a smirk, "Figured I should probably work a few of those donuts off. I ate nine." he states plainly.

Vasquez returns Jessica's scowling with a silent stare, but listens until she's done. "If you'd asked..." she starts, with an annoyed tone. "...you'd have known that we're very much open to recruiting people without a 'fancy background'. Even Adrasteians." she adds with a slight eyeroll. We probably wouldn't have sent you on a two-week mission off-world to start you off with, no, but you could have gotten work with us (Tyranniac)

without lying about your background. I care about the safety of my team, and you could have put them in danger. Thankfully you didn't, and I've been told that you may even have saved some lives back there, and that's the only reason we're having this talk. (Tyranniac)

(*")

Jessica snorts and gives a roll of her own eyes in return. "What even is this talk, mmm? Why am I here? You say this is an 'chance to explain myself', yes? Why do you even care? You didn't seem to care last night when you just shouted my business in front of everyone, mmm?" (Jason_Wolfe)

Cynthia nods with a glance towards the door. "Yeah, pretty much. She always so busy working nowadays?" she says, a faint hint of annoyance in her voice, but concealed behind a lighthearted tone. (Tyranniac)

Vasquez scowls at Jessica's behavior, having to make a concious effort to restrain her reaction. "I wanted to give you a second chance. To work for us." (Tyranniac)

Jason reaches over to the machine's panel, tapping it a few times until the treadmill slows to a stop. He takes a couple of breaths before nodding to her. "Unfortunately... Hard to get her to do much of anything these days. After-..." he taps his temple and winces slightly, assuming Vasquez has, at some point, filled her in on her injury. "Not to mention it probably doesn't help any

that she can't really go out and have a few drinks with our friends-..." he continues, consciously substituting 'my' for 'our', "...with her implant. Guessing she just feels out of place." He grabs his hand towel that was draped over the side of the machine and begins to wipe at his forehead, "I was hoping you being in town might convince her to get out a bit more."

Jessica looks confused. "You-... I didn't-..." she stammers, shifting uncomfortably in her seat. She expected this to be a fight to get what she's owed, not a job offer. "I-... I am getting paid, yes...?" she asks tentatively, "...For the job...?" (Jason_Wolfe)

Cynthia nods again as her arms drop to her sides. Her mood falls a bit at the mention of the implant. "Yeah..." she seems like she's going to say something else about it, but decides to let it go unmentioned for now. "I'll keep trying, but so far? No luck. I asked about heading out for dinner, she said we should go eat at the... Miner's Rest? Wherever that is, and bring her back something..." (Tyranniac)

Vasquez sighs. "Yes. You're getting paid." she clarifies. "In fact you'll find the money in your account by the end of this conversation." (Tyranniac)

Jason tosses the hand towel over his shoulder and gives a soft sigh, his mood visibly worsening at the news that Vasquez won't be joining them. "Fair enough, I guess... It's a place in town. Good food, good people, I just-..." he shrugs, glancing towards the door, "...I wish she'd come with."

Cynthia shrugs lightly. "Hey, if you think you can convince her..." (Tyranniac)

Jessica tilts her head to the side for a moment as a grin spreads across her face. "Now you're making sense." she says, leaning an elbow heavily against the arm rest of the chair. "So, you want to hire me, mmm? Maybe can be negotiated." she says with a distinct lack of interest in her voice. "You see, I'm not going to be staying on Aite much longer. Buuut, so long as I'm here? More credits are never a bad thing, mmm?" (Jason_Wolfe

She nods to Vasquez, "So? How much are we talking for my continued employment, mmm?" (Jason_Wolfe)

Jason gives a shake of his head. "Nobody convinces that woman to do anything she doesn't want to do..." he sighs, although he gives a shrug and a lopsided smirk tugs a his lips, "...But I'm too stubborn to let it go without trying. How about you get ready and I'll go pester her? We'll head out in a half hour or so?"

Vasquez 's annoyance quickly returns. "We don't need you. The offer is for your sake. You'd get payed depending on assignment, same as everyone else. If you're interested, there'll be no more bullshit. Is that understood?" (Tyranniac)

Cynthia nods, gaining a small smirk of her own at Jason's comment. "Sure thing." she says as she turns towards the exit, although she furrows her eyebrows as a tought occurs. "What about the poor guy by the TV? He seems a bit desperate for interaction if he's hanging around here all day." (Tyranniac)

Jessica's scowl returns as quickly as Vasquez' annoyance, and she once again folds her arms across her chest. "Mmm. And I don't need you..." she says defiantly, "I don't know what 'bullshit' you're talking about, but if you've got a job for me and I'm still in town-..." she gives a slight disinterested shrug, "...Maybe I won't turn it down." She sucks in a deep breath through her nose and fails to hide her smile (Jason_Wolfe)

for a moment as she stands up from her seat, thrusting her hand across the desk towards Vasquez in an awkward attempt at going for a handshake. (Jason_Wolfe)

Jason follows Cynthia towards the door. "Ten still in there?" he asks before giving a slight shrug, "See if he's hungry. The more the merrier, right?"

Vasquez looks utterly confused by the woman's behavior at this point, but stands up partially to shake Jessica's hand. "Right... we'll keep you in mind." (Tyranniac)

Ehanis enters the building, and immediately heads for the hallway. She's wearing the same white coat as earlier today, simple black pants, and a dark red purse hanging on her shoulder. She has her eyes on the staircase. (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Cynthia nods. "Yup." she says, heading over towards the rec room. Once inside she vaults over the back of the couch, landing in the seat next to Nathan. "Missed me?" (Tyranniac)

Nathan blinks and glances to his right. The humans have been pretty much demolished and are limping out of the arena. Nathan cracks a grin, waving a hand idly. "Every second was torture without your presence," he jokes. "You found Jason then?"

Jason follows Cynthia part-way, but breaks off towards his and Vasquez' living quarters to get cleaned up.

Jessica holds the handshake for an uncomfortably long time. "Uh huh. I'm sure you will." she says as she releases her grip on Vasquez' hand. "I'll be staying at the Miner's Respite until I leave Aite. An inn in town. Maybe a week, maybe a month-..." she shrugs her shoulders, "...Depends. But I will let you know when I'm leaving. You've got my contact info, just send a message my way if business needs taken care of, (Jason_Wolfe)

yes?" (Jason_Wolfe)

Cynthia nods, watching the defeated team leave before glancing at Nathan. "Yeah, we're heading into town in a bit for dinner. You wanna come?" (Tyranniac)

Nathan hums for a moment before nodding. "Sure, sounds good. I think it's 'bout time I see a little more of this town," he says as he switches off the screen. He rolls his shoulder. "Where're we headed?"

Vasquez lets out a grunt as she sits back down. "We'll see." (Tyranniac)

Ehanis proceeds upstairs and down the hallway. Once she sees the rec room sign, she opens the door and steps inside. "Hi," she says from the door. "What are you watching?" She heads over to the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water. (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Cynthia nods. "Uh... Miner's Rest, I think?" she says before glancing over her shoulder and raising a hand in greeting to the asari. "Yo!" (Tyranniac)

Nathan shrugs lightly. "I think... I know it?" He says with a not so sure expression. He looks to Ehanis and taps two fingers to his forehead. "Just finished watching Armax. Screen is all yours if you want?"

Jessica slowly backs up towards the door, nodding her head. "Good talk." she says with a wink as she nudges the door's interface with her elbow. She turns on her heels to exit the room, but glances back over her shoulder before doing so. "Since you've extended the olive branch, I suppose I can sweep last night under the rug. Put it behind us." she says, her tone implying that she feels she's doing Vasquez a favor. She (Jason_Wolfe)

doesn't await a response before exiting the room and heading towards the front door. (Jason_Wolfe)

Vasquez grits her teeth as Jessica disappears before she has a chance to shut her down. She lets out a loud, frustrated sigh and leans back in her chair. (Tyranniac)

Ehanis downs the glass and leaves it in the sink before approaching the couch. Her walking is a little uneven. "Miner's Respite?" she asks. "I worked security there for a while. It's a nice place, drink's cheap, but it's not the kind of place you'd make the last stop off a late night out." She then shrugs. "I didn't come all the way here to hog the screen." (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Nathan quirks an eyebrow at Ehanis. "Cheap drinks? Cheap drinks are good," he confirms with a nod. "How's your leg doing?"

Ehanis does not take a seat at the couch yet. "It's fine, it doesn't stop me from walking places," she says, possibly omitting to mention doctor's orders. "I really got off easy considering how fucking close I was." (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Cynthia lets out a "Huh." as she hears Ehanis' correction. "Respite... got it. I'm Cynthia." she says as her gaze falls to the asari's leg. "Work injury?" she says with a small smirk. (Tyranniac)

Ehanis nods. "Mhm," she says. "Didn't put enough distance between my ass and a grenade before it went off." She starts taking off her coat. "I'm Ehanis. You new around here?" She walks over to the table to hang the coat on the back rest of one of the chairs. Underneath she has a simple deep blue t-shirt. (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Nathan folds a leg across the other, simply content with listening for the moment.

Cynthia shrugs slightly. "Sure, but I don't work here. I'm a friend of the Chief's." (Tyranniac)

Ehanis raises an eyebrow at first, although she's mostly looking away. She returns and takes a seat in the couch, on whichever side is vacant. "I believe you," she says. "She is way too serious in the field." (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Cynthia seems confused by Ehanis' statement, but shrugs and gets up, heading over to the kitchen corner, looking through the cabinets. "You two worked here long?" (Tyranniac)

Nathan shakes his head. "Nah, I've only been here about... A month or so? Something like that."

Ehanis nods. "I haven't been around much longer than him," she says. "Half of it was the security posting down at the Respite, and I'll probably get similar assignments from now on." She sighs. (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Cynthia fills up a glass of water upon finding nothing of interest in the cabinets, and sips it as she heads back to the couch, standing behind it and leaning against the back. "Ya don't sound too thrilled about that." (Tyranniac)

Nathan looks to Ehanis. "What was it... Your sister, right? She's really protective of her, so after that fiasco...". He shrugs.

Ehanis gives a nod. "I don't know about you, but I can't stand being alone in a security office for hours, it drives me insane," she says. "That fiasco was just bad luck, and a bad decision... made by the bunch of us that decided to stick too close." (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Cynthia sips her water again, and chuckles quietly. She seems to consider staying around to chat for a bit, but decides against it as she pushes off the couch. "I'm heading out now. I'll see you two around, yeah?" (Tyranniac)

Nathan gives Cynthia a small wave. "You guys have fun, yeah?"

Ehanis gives a slight smile. "Maybe," she says. "I don't come here all that often." (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Cynthia gives Nathan a nod on her way out. "That's the plan." (Tyranniac)

Nathan lowers his hand as she leaves, glancing to Ethanis. "You okay?" He asks after a few seconds. "You looked pretty pissed earlier."

Ehanis takes a deep breath. "Just... a bad day," she says, not sounding very convincing. "Sorry, it was a mistake coming here and souring the mood for you two." (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Nathan laughs softly and waves off her apology. "We all have them," he assures her, deciding not to press on the topic. "And you didn't ruin anything, she was on her way soon anyway. C'mon, let's see what crap is on the screen, eh? Might be some more Armax~".

Ehanis looks up at the screen. "The arena on the Citadel, right?" she asks. "I've always wanted to try that out for myself, but I haven't had an excuse good enough to justify going halfway across the galaxy." (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Nathan flicks the screen back on and starts flicking through, searching for a rerun. "Likewise. I mean, if you're one of the top scorers, I think the credits and the equipment can certainly justify the travel." He nods once as he finds a rerun of a C-Sec captain and his team tackling the arena. "Plus, c'mon, being on all of the screens, kicking ass and being

cheered on by billions? What a thrill."

Ilyna smirks. "That would be so great," she says. "Being on screen, I mean. It would be nice to win too, but I won't use to justify the travel costs. I do enough of that in this line of work."

Ehanis <-^ (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Nathan chuckles, leaning back into the sofa. "Ah well, can but dream, no?" He glances across to her. "So, how're things treating you anyway? Haven't really spoken to one another since the mission itself."

Ehanis shrugs. "I've been keeping busy, not exactly following the doc's orders," she says. "I've been looking after 'Lyna's kid ever since I came back from Illium. I was angry with her when she told me to, but... now I miss the responsibility. Kind of." (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Nathan chuckles. "The kid melt your heart?" He quips, reaching across to lightly punch her in the arm.

Jason has finished cleaning up and made his way downstairs. He taps the interface to Vasquez' office. Being the master strategist he is, his mind is already going over a million scenarios where Vasquez tries to slip out of going with them and how he can wordsmith her back along.

Vasquez is sitting behind her desk as the door opens, still looking rather frustrated as her eyes trail along the text on the screen in front of her. When Jason enters she allows it to fade away, turning her attention to him. "Yes?" she says, her cheerful tone from the morning all but gone by now. (Tyranniac)

Ehanis leans back with a grin. "A little," she admits. "There's still some ice to go around." She pauses with a sigh. "Joking aside, though, well," she begins. "She's fun to be around at times, even if she's a bit of a worrywart much like her... uh, step-mother. I would have been lost had anything gone wrong, though. If she's gotten sick or something like that, I mean." (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Nathan nods lightly, scratching at his now shaven chin. "Eh, looking after kids is hard work. Never really know what to expect with them." He adds with a chuckle. He adopts a more sombre tone and looks to Ehanis, a question lingering before he brushes it away and looks to the screen, just in time to see the captain down two geth troopers with a grenade. "Well, look

at the bright side, nothing went wrong and the kid had a good time with you, as far as I can gather."

Jason frowns slightly as he steps into the office. She's back into 'all business' mode. Gonna be a tough sell. He takes a deep breath, forcing his stupid smirk back into place as he gives her a shrug and makes as if he's looking around her office. Plan A: Bribery! "Me and Cynthia are gonna head down to the Respite. She said you aren't coming with. Any reason why?" He makes his way

Jason around to the side of her desk, "Varren kebaaaaaaaaabs~" he says with a tilt of his head. That should do it. Press the advantage! "Nothing quite like getting them right out of the kitchen~ Still fresh and warm. Mmmmmm-mmmm-good!"

Vasquez seems mostly confused at first, turning her chair to face him as he goes to the side. She rolls her eyes at his ridiculousness, but a tiny hint of a smirk tugs briefly at the corner of her mouth before disappearing to the all-but-default frown. "Just bring one back for me, I have work to do." (Tyranniac)

Jason furrows his brows. Ineffective. Should've known a tough opponent wouldn't go down so easily, but bribery is just a parlor trick! For simpletons! On to the heavy weapons: Flattery! "I know... A lot of shit to do around here." he sighs, glancing down at her desk and placing a hand atop it as he sits at the edge just beside her, "But it's not going anywhere, either and-..." he

shrugs his shoulders and gives an exaggerated frown, "...You sure as hell deserve a break. You work your ass off around here, gotta take a little time off for you, right? For us?" His smirk returns. Come on, she can't resist that! Victory feels imminent. "Grab your jacket, it'll be fun. I promise."

Ehanis sighs. "Grenades, aren't they just great," she says as she sees the spectacle on the screen, a slight groan in her voice. "So, how about you,... Ten, was it? What happened to your arm?" (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Nathan sighs along with her. "They are...". He then looks to her and winces. "Wait, that was sarcasm, wasn't it? I mean, I'm the grenadier... I actually love the little bastards... Never mind." He then nods. "Ten is I and I is Ten. And my arm was attacked by the unholy offspring of a krogan and a vorcha. Snapped my arm like a twig... Well, twisted it and broke it-

eh, semantics."

Vasquez looks Jason over as he speaks, her expression mostly constant. When he's done she lets out a sigh, a look of guilt coming over her, as if she know she should probably go. "Look, I'm not really in the mood... why don't you and Cynthia just go? Another day, maybe..." (Tyranniac)

Ehanis raises her brows. "The image you just put in my head.... Fuck, normal vorcha are ugly enough," she says. "Wish I could have been there, though. Vorcha usually don't pack grenades." She then frowns. "Hey, I have nothing against grenades on our side. I use warp fields, which can be a lot worse to be on the receiving end of." (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Nathan shudders. "Yeah, and I had to see it face to face. Bastard even stabbed me in the armpit too...". He looks to Ehanis again, quirking an eyebrow. "Glad to say I have never been on the receiving end of one of those yet. Came close a stupid many times...".

Jason gives another shrug as he pretends to consider her question. "Why? Oh, I don't know. Because I like spending time with you? Because you can't just stay locked up in this place-.." he gestures around the room, "..all day? Because your friend is here because she cares about you and probably doesn't want to be stuck eating dinner with some guy she barely knows, regardless of how

incredibly handsome and charming he may be?"

Ehanis nods. "A good suit of armor should take most of it, maybe all," she says. "There's no repairing it, though." She looks thoughtful for a second. "You did kill that thing, right? How?" (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Vasquez winces slightly and nods, staring at her desk. She stands up with a grunt, walking past him uncermoniously. "Fine..." (Tyranniac)

Jason sighs and hops off the desk, following her out of the room. "Oh come on. It'll be fun. You were in such a good mood this morning. Who pissed in your cereal?"

Nathan nods, rubbing his chin. "I'll have to ask Lucy about that," he murmurs before replying. "The bastard was stasis...Ed? As soon as he was released from it, I shot him in the fave repeatedly." He shrugs lightly. "Managed to withstand one of my stun devices before hand though. Never seen that happen before...".

Vasquez stops before opening the door, turning back to him with a sigh, shaking her head. "Sorry." she says with a slight frown. "Just... a lot on my mind, is all. And... it's strange spending time with Cyn again. It's... been a long time." (Tyranniac)

Jason reaches out and places a hand on her shoulder giving it a slight squeeze as he gives a sigh of his own. "I bet..." he says, offering a sympathetic nod, "...But she obviously cares about you. I mean, she dropped her whole life and took a trip all the way out here just to spend some time with you, right? I'm not saying it's easy to-..." he shrugs, looking a bit uncomfortable at

even bringing it up, "...you know, face your past... But I think it'll be good for you to push through this. To have a friend around that knew you before all-..." he glances up, then around the room before resting his gaze on Vasquez once again and giving another shrug, "...of this. And more importantly? I ate nine fucking donuts so I'm still stuffed and it'll be really weird if it's

just me and her and I'm just sitting there watching her eat."

Ehanis frowns. "Vorcha can really take a beating," she says. "They're not a big deal if you see them coming from afar, though. Some of them even have flammables strapped to them... at least on Omega." (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Vasquez nods as Jason speaks, knowing very well that he's right, but her faint frown remaining regardless. She's caught completely off-guard by the last comment and lets out a surprised chuckle, a small smile forming as she places her hand on top of the one on her shoulder with another nod, noticably less uneasy. "Let's go then." (Tyranniac)

Jason gives a nod of his own. "Sounds good!" he says, prepared to take to the grave the fact that it was actually 11 donuts! Nobody has to know. "We should pick up another box of donuts while we're out."

Vasquez rolls her eyes, still smirking slightly as she turns to leave. (Tyranniac)

Nathan is about to respond before his omni-tool bleeps. He looks down and his eyes shoot open wide. "Oh hell yes!" He immediately shoots up, looking down to Ehanis with an apologetic but excited look. "I'm sorry, but my bike has just arrived and I have to pick it up... Eh, get someone to drive it back for me... Either way, I gotta go!"

Ehanis smiles. "I would have offered, but me behind the controls of anything touching the ground...," she says. "Yeah. I'll see you around, Ten." (Ilyna_T`Rea)

Nathan offers her a quick smile and wave before heading out, checking to make sure he doesn't run into anyone.
