#RedrockAgency – November 5, 2017
Nathan stands and starts to clap, a big grin on his face. He just loves weddings. Not that he'll openly admit that.
Sofia stands, quickly wiping away a tear before she joins in with the clapping. Unlike her brother, she'll admit to loving weddings.
Vynira has calmly observed the ceremony, though a smile has been present throughout. She hardly not know either of them beyond what Ilyna has told her, but she knows well how it feels to be up there making the formal commitment. She follows suit as the appluase starts, and after a sublte nudge to her side, so does Ehanis after a less than subtle scoff.
Ilyna casts a glance Cynthia's way as the crowd starts clapping in order to get a hint at what she's supposed to be doing. She wipes under eyes again, looking a bit embarrased given her position being in the field of vision of most people on the roof.
Va'ynna has managed to collect herself, but she's got a big smile as she keeps watching the couple up on the platform. She is a bit late to react to the applauce, but she joins in it along with her mother.
Once the applause dies down, everyone is slowly shifted to the hangar. Jessica continues getting in everyone's way as she documents every step of the trip back downstairs on her omni-tool. Jason remains hand-in-hand with Vasquez. Now that the ceremony is over, his nerves have settled and the biggest, dumbest smirk seems to be permanently etched into his face. Once downstairs and everyone begins taking their seat, Jasper steps over towards
Jasper clears his throat a few times as he tries to get everyone's attention. Realizing he's not getting much traction, he reaches over and slides a hand across Nathan's keyboard to make a little noise. Once eyes are on him, he gives a small wave, pausing for a moment before speaking. "...Alright, ya'll. Time to get our grub on and maybe a bit a' boogyin'!" he says, punctuating it by giving a shake of his hips from side to side. "But,
in the spirit a' good ol' fashioned tradition... We're gon' hafta leave the first dance to the guests of honor." he continues, giving a sweeping gesture towards Jason and Vasquez, "Ten an' Sofia-..." he glances to each of them respectively, "...are gon' be providin' some sweet, sweet tunes fer 'em!" He leans over and pokes at a single key with one hand over and over- his idea of a musical introduction- as he waves Nathan and
Nathan stands and takes in a deep breath. At Leah's taunt, he turns to pull a face at her, but then offers a wide smile. He crosses over to the keyboard, giving Jasper a nod and a low thanks as he turns to look over the guests. He glances to his sister, giving her an encouraging nod.
Sofia follows her brother, smiling brightly to Jasper at the introduction. She opens her case and takes out the violin and bow, then turns to look at the assemble of guests. She certainly seems much more confident than her brother as she tucks the rest underneath her chin, waiting for Jason and Vasquez to take to the dance floor.
Jason stands near the head of the room with Vasquez. He winces at the mention of dancing- well aware of the video that made its rounds the previous day. He looks to Vasquez, cocking his head to the side as if to say 'Here we go'.
Vasquez ' unease hasn't quite disappeared the way Jason's seems to have, owing perhaps to the spectacle and the crowd - and the imminent dance - but there's nonetheless a contented smile on her face. As Jasper calls on them a dismayed grimace crosses her face and she nods, accepting her fate with gritted teeth.
Leah leans forward in her seat, elbows pressed against the table she's seated at- silently hoping at least some of her tutelage sunk in.
Jason gives Vasquez' hand a squeeze, offering a small smile for encouragement, before tugging her towards the dance floor. Once they're a few feet from Nathan and Sofia, he turns to face his wife and glances down, carefully placing his hands exactly where Leah told him to as if worried that an inch in any direction and the whole dance may fall apart.
Ilyna has made her way down to the hangar, only stopping by her office on her way to properly wipe her tears. She smiles at the mention of Nathan and Sofia's performance, remembering well her request for it a few days prior. She has Li on her left, and she's held off the seat to her right for Halisi. Ehanis and their common parent are across from them.
Vasquez likewise does her best to replicate their earlier crash-course once they're out on the dancefloor. Hands in place, another grimace, but as her gaze moves back to meet Jason's she takes a deep breath, and a small smile spreads across her lips as she shuts out the rest of the room.
Nathan and Sofia glance at each other, both smiling broadly as they share the same thought. Just like old times. Sofia brings the bow up and holds it at the ready as Nathan turns his gaze down to the keys. He presses down, a series of soft notes played a few seconds apart as their sound fills the hangar. One more press, then Sofia starts to gently move her body and play. The music drifts into the air as the siblings meld their music to
one. A slow rhythm at first, gentle, beautiful as Sofia's eyes flutter to half closed, the smile warm and soft on her face. It continues like this for a moment before it steadily picks up. Nate's fingers drift across the keys with practiced ease, each press sending bursts of colour into the air like wayward sprites. It's almost as if the room shares a sense of synesthesia, the music of the brother and sister working in harmony to trans
transcend anything they have done before. The music, signaling another chapter for the bride and groom, is easy enough for them to sway with. To close off the rest of the world and let the pair of them experience bliss and tranquility with only each other.
Jason remains still for a second, forgetting his role for a brief moment. His face turns bright red and an intense, focused look crosses his face as he begins to lead the dance just like Leah taught. His expression is more befitting someone heading into combat than dancing, but he performs the admittedly basic steps taught- albeit a bit rigidly- eyes downward to make sure he doesn't mess up. His gaze rises to meet Vasquez' and,
once again, remains fixed there, unable to tear himself away from her eyes. His familiar smirk slowly resurfaces and his steps become less forced. He forgets about the crowd. The guests. And about everything that weighed him down before this day. The only things that matter to him in this moment is the beautiful music filling the room and the gorgeous woman before him. As his focus drifts, his steps become slightly more
messy, but that doesn't seem to be hurting his enjoyment any as he sways from side to side with Vasquez.
Vasquez sticks to the practiced steps at first, but eventually she finds herself just swaying along with Jason, lost in the moment. Her smile slowly grows as she stares into his eyes. Her husband. Despite everything. All the trouble. All the pain. Despite all of it, they'd made it. As the dance goes on, and the music envelops them, she finds herself overwhelmed. She moves closer, resting her forehead against his shoulder
The music blurs together with the couple, surrounding them with a melody like a gentle breeze on a summers day. The white haired violinist's body moves with the tempo, shifting with each stroke of the bow across the strings, her dress rippling like water with the flow. Her mismatched eyes sparkle with passion, her movements graceful as she performs; no longer a demonstration, but an act of creation. Nathan moves his hands across the ke
keys, the gentle notes mixing with the heavier, yet still enrapturing keys. His head dips with the firmer presses, his eyes lidded as he looks down to the instrument before him as colours flash around him. He steals a quick glance to the couple, to the audience, to his friends as the song reaches its halfway point. He smiles.
Va'ynna has her eyes firmly tracking the pair of musicians as the sounds of the alien instruments fill the room, admiring the intricate detail in their movements and the sound it makes. It takes her almost a full minute to realize that she hasn't been paying attention to the guests of honor, and she turns her head to look at them. She has heard rumors about Jason's last performance on the dancefloor, and her smile
is sitting next to her mother and Victoria, quite a distance away from the other group of asari. She is still uncomfortable about her dress, especially when speaking with people other than Victoria.
Leah releases a breath she hadn't realized she was holding as the pair avoid making complete fools of themselves and allows herself to enjoy the music. Her gaze moves to Sofia as she plays the violin. Then comes to a rest on Nathan. She lifts her hand, giving him a small wave of her fingers as he looks out to the crowd.
Jason moves his hands from the position they were vice gripped into as Vasquez eases up and simply wraps his arms around her, pulling her in close as their dance devolves into gentle swaying back and forth. He closes his eyes and simply enjoys the closeness her body offers that is no longer afforded by his synthetic arms.
Steve watches in silence. But eventually leans over to Renala. "...Not too bad." he decides, as if he was expecting a trainwreck given all of their previous shortcomings.
Tara is just watching and listening to both dance and music with wide eyes and a big smile on her face, a far cry from her usually subdued expressions.
Li seems to be getting a bit bored as the dancing goes on... and on... and on. She's currently looking down at her feet, bouncing them against the legs of her chair.
Vasquez seems to have no intention of letting go anytime soon, just continuing to sway gently in place, her entire world narrowed down to the comforting feeling of Jason close to her, and the music that fills their little bubble of reality.
The music continues to swirl around the bridge and groom, the sounds drifting between them with an alluring pull that keeps them locked together in their love and affection. The music slows, the piano and violin reducing their tempo down as one, working together even as it comes to a close. Sofia draws her final note before lowering her bow, her world once more expanding to include the audience. Her eyes open faintly and she looks peac
peaceful, content. Nate gently plays the final few notes, catching Leah's wave with a warm smile. He looks down, pressing the notes as they space out a little more... then ends with one final tap. He sighs and looks up to the room around him, his eyes filled with pride. But not for himself as he looks to his little sister who gazes across the audience and the couple.
Renala gives an unsure hum. "Not sure what I expected," she replies in a low voice. She has seen the video from Jason's bachelor party, and has dilligently archived it as an unowned file in an out of the way part of the employees' shared multimedia storage.
Jason tightens his grip on Vasquez as the song comes to a close, moving to just wrap her up in a hug as he presses a kiss against the side of her head as he glances out at the others.
Jasper gives a loud hoot as he climbs back to his feet and begins to clap as he moves towards Nathan and Sofia. "You might wanna start considerin' a new career, Ten!" he congratulates.
Steve joins in on the applause, his focus still on Renala. "A disaster? Like everything else they manage?" he offers with a snicker. He passes a glance back towards the bride and groom and gives a small nod. "Naw... This was-..." he pauses, doing his best to avoid possibly complimenting them before simply shrugging. "...Nice."
Vasquez still doesn't open her eyes, just leaning the side of her head against Jason's in response to the kiss, a mostly unseen smile on her face as she returns the hug.
Tara is still smiling as the music comes to a close, her gaze turning from the couple to Sofia. She glances towards Leah as others start applauding, perhaps looking for confirmation that this is an appropriate response.
Leah gives Tara a big smile and begins clapping. "What do you think of your first wedding?" she asks the young girl.
Nathan dips his head a little in a half bow to the audience, the man actually gaining the slightest flush to his cheeks. He grins at Jasper, waving off the praise with his hand. "Ah, you're overselling it. This was all on Sofia," he responds, giving a humble nod to his sister.
Sofia smiles broadly, if a little sheepishly and gives a gentle curtsy. She looks across to Tara and gives the girl a gentle smile and a tiny wave before stepping over to join her brother's side.
Tara briefly lowers her gaze, her smile temporarily giving way to some discomfort at being asked her thoughts. "I... I like it." she says quietly. "Everyone is... happy."
Yan Sun 's interest seems to have faded now that the actual ceremony is over, and if someone were to pay close attention to her eyes they might notice her gaze darting about subtly as she browses unseen extranet pages.
Renala casts another glance at the couple before focusing on Steve, while joining the applause. "Yeah," she chuckles. "Keeping disaster at an arm's length is what we do for a living, though."
Ilyna gives Li a gentle pat on the shoulder as she notices her boredom, but the asari's attention is mainly directed at the dancing couple.
Jasper snickers as he reaches out to give Nathan a pat on the shoulder. "Well, both a' ya'll were fan-friggin'-tastic." he praises, looking from Nathan to Sofia. He turns to face the rest of the guests before raising a hand. "Alright, ya'll! Chow down!" he says, opening the flood gates.
Steve settles back into his seat. "Positive as ever, Ren." he teases. He's quick to rise to his feet when Jasper makes the announcement. "Beer?" he asks the asari.
Leah gives a couple of nods as she reaches out to pat Tara on the shoulder. "Wanna get something to eat?"
Nathan reaches to gently pat Jasper on the side, thanking the praise with a nod. He smiles down to his sister and motions her toward the food and drinks. "Go help yourself. You earned it."
Yan Sun perks up at the mention of food, and it's not long before she's out of her seat and heading for the buffet table.
Sofia chuckles and turns to leave. She stops, considers for a moment before turning around and throwing her arms around her brother in a big hug. "I missed this, Natey. Thank you."
Nathan blinks and looks down, his smile widening as he hugs her back, placing a hand atop her head. "I missed it too, Mouse," he says back to her, using a time old nickname for her. "Go on. Get." He shoos her towards the food, folding his arms across his chest.
Renala smirks at his teasing, "I know." When the question of alcohol comes up, she nods and stands up as well; she shasn't had anything to eat since breakfast.
Jasper is unable to suppress a smile at the bond the two siblings have. With a nod, he heads off to turn on the music for anyone wishing to get their dance on before heading off to fetch himself some food.
Jessica bumps into Yan Sun with her hip as she takes a position beside her at the food table. "Fuck this is long." she grumbles.
Yan Sun snickers as she starts to collect food. "This is nothing compared to some of the stuff I had to sit through back in Hong Kong..." she comments. After some silent filling of her plate she adds: "This is... nicer. Plus you're here."
Leah shuffles over towards Sofia, big grin on her face. "That was incredible!" she says as she grabs herself a plate. "You are sooooo talented!"
Nathan stands off to the side for the moment. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out the small recording device he was using to immortalise that song. He transfers the audio to his omni-tool and in turn quickly composes a message. 'Hey mum, I hope this will cheer you up. I'm thinking about you and I promise to visit soon on one condition. That you get better! I love you. -Nathan.' He sends the message and
Jessica allows a small smile to slip through, but quickly interrupts it with a roll of her eye. "Sooooo gay." she repeats with another nudge into Yan Sun before raising her omni-tool and snapping a picture.
Vynira turns her attention back to her eldest daughter once the music stops, and a glance is cast at the woman beside her. There's an unvoiced question etched into the father's features, one that Ilyna has picked up on judging by her narrowed eyes.
Ilyna stands up from her seat. "Let's get something to eat," she says as she looks down at Li, waiting for her to take the lead.
Sofia was a small ways into filling her plate before she turns and gives Leah a big grin. She idly brushes a lock of hair behind her ear and breathes a small laugh. "Oh, thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it!" She nods once, looking between her and Tara.
Yan Sun extends her tongue with a playful grimace as Jessica snaps a picture, plate and fork still in hand. A snicker follows as she turns to go back to her seat. "Come on... grab some food. Pretty sure you're allowed to eat."
Jessica shrugs her shoulders, glancing around to make sure there's nothing worth capturing before tucking her omni-tool away and grabbing a plate for herself. She piles as much varren meat onto her plate as it can hold. "Mmm. Maybe a snack." she says despite having enough food to feed three people.
Tara keeps her gaze low, letting out a quiet, nervous near-whisper of "I really liked it.". An uneasy, almost frightened look crosses her face immediately afterwards, as if she might be punished for expressing her opinion.
Li nods faintly, sliding off her chair and moving towards the food table only after making sure that Ilyna is accompanying her - never once letting go of her hand.
Leah's smile widens as Tara speaks up. "See? Even Tara liked it! And she's a tough critic!" she teases as she passes a plate Tara's way.
Vasquez eventually finds herself pulled out of her entranced state as her stomach audibly growls, eliciting a sudden snicker from her. She lifts her head, sliding her hands up to Jason's neck as she creates a bit of distance between them.
Halisi joins Ilyna and Li in getting something to eat. The gaze of the unfamiliar asari has not gone unnoticed, and with slight curiosity she leans in to ask Ilyna: "Who is that over there?" as they walk. "Do you know her?"
Sofia giggles softly and smiles warmly at Tara. She bows a little towards the girl, looking up at her with a kind look in her mismatched eyes. "Then your praise means the most. Thank you." She giggles again and stands up straight.
Yan Sun returns to her seat, unable to suppress a brief laugh as she notices Jessica's food. She offers no comment however, quickly quite focused on her own food.
Ehanis is currently browsing the selection of booze, a neutral look on her face. She does raise her brows at the mention of quarians in the signs, though she does understand what it means.
Jason's hands move back to Vasquez' waist, big smile still etched into his features. He leans in, pressing a quick kiss against her lips before stepping back. "...You're amazing." he finally says softly, "I-... I hope you know that." He doesn't wait for a response before starting towards the food table.
Leah catches on to Tara's confusion. "Got a taste for anything specific?" she asks, refusing to give her any direction. The last thing she wants is Tara falling into old ways and awaiting directions for every little thing.
Ilyna gives a nod at the question. "Unfortunately," she jokes. "She's my father." She glances Ehanis' way, sighing as she notices what she's up to, "And her mother." She stops at the food table and reaches out to grab a plate for herself and Li. "Jason told me I could send out invitations," she says, "but she was the only one who accepted it."
Vasquez smiles at the words that follow the kiss, but there's a lingering guilt beneath the smile, and it only grows as Jason turns to go get food, slipping away from her. She remains in place for a moment, gaze falling to his synthetic hand and the ring on his finger. Stuck with her now. As if that's fair. It's only with concious effort that she follows to the food table, pushing back the pained frown that briefly
Halisi raises an eyebrow, obviously surprised by this new information. She gives a polite smile and a slight wave in Vynira's direction. "Your... father? I-... oh. I had no idea. So you'r-..." she stops herself, rethinking the pointless question she was about to ask. "Are you two close?" she opts for, instead.
Steve approaches the table along with Renala, waiting for others to step aside before grabbing a plate and filling it with food. He steps over to the booze afterwards, paying no mind to the sign as he goes straight for the whiskey. Food and booze aquired, he returns to his seat and awaits Renala.
Jason is quick to make a stop at Va'ynna's table as he hasn't yet spoken to her today. "Hey, V." he greets, giving a brief glance around the table but bringing his focus back to her and extending his arms out to his side as if expecting a hug.
Sofia watches the pair for a moment more before piling a nice, healthy mix of food onto her plate before moving out the way for others. She picks at the varren on her plate, finding that she quite enjoys the exotic taste.
Nathan walks on over to the table, picking up a plate and starting to put food onto it. Mostly meat, finding himself quite hungry. He smiles to Leah and Tara, but leaves them for the moment while Tara makes her selection.
Vasquez moves on to the food table when Jason stops by Va'ynna, laying claim to some varren kebabs. May not be Arkhat's, but it'll do. The thoughts still lingering in the back of her mind keep her regained smile from reaching her eyes as she collects food in silence.
Leah gives a small shrug of her shoulders as she looks over the options. "Go for whatever looks good to you." she offers as her only assistance. "I-..." she continues as she moves over to the burger platter and begins building a burger, the classiest of wedding foods, "...am going to chow down!"
Va'ynna was content to await the food table becoming less crowded, until she's interrupted by Jason. She stands up, and carefully wraps her arms around him in a hug. "Hey, Jason," she says, almost a whipser. "Congratulations." Jason is another exception in not causing her discomfort, but there's a slight worry in the back of her mind how he'll react to her dress.
Jason returns the hug, giving her a gentle squeeze before stepping back and looking her over with furrowed brow, not particularly used to seeing her so dressed up. "Wow." he exclaims with a bit of shock, "You look great, V! Really went all out, huh?"
Tara doesn't show quite the desired independence, opting to make a burger of her own as soon as Leah starts to finish up. It's a very nice burger though, meticulously put together.
Oxaris had quietly observed the previous events from the comfort of an isolated corner. She found the whole thing quite entertaining, listening to the alien music and watching the stiff, but loving dance. She opts to remain in her chair for now, just content in watching.
Vasquez picks up a loose piece of kebab meet from her plate with her hand, popping it into her mouth as she joins Jason and Va'ynna, offering the asari a polite nod, her slightly off smile lingering.
Leah frowns slightly at Tara's indecision, but is quick to cover it up with a smile as she fetches a drink for herself. "No booze!" she teases Tara through her smile. She steps over to Nathan once she's all set, jabbing an elbow in his side as she balances her plate with one hand. "Plenty of room at our table for you and your sister." she offers before starting back towards her seat, "And you're not getting out of that dance!"
Tara lowers her gaze and nods faintly, apparently taking the playful admonishment quite seriously. She struggles at the drink table for a moment before picking a soft drink based mostly on the look of the bottle. She returns to her seat alongside Leah.
Ilyna frowns at Halisi's initial reaction, especially at the question she stopped herself from asking. "I...," she begins, not sure how to answer that question. If it wasn't for her father taking the initiative two years ago, she may not even have gotten back in touch with her – or Ehanis. "Yeah," she says after a few seconds' pause. She lets go of Li's hand and gives her an empty plate, offering her to choose for
Nathan almost looses his own plate at the sudden elbow in his side. He balances it before shooting a playful glare her way. "I would've found a way if you made me drop my food!" Nathan chuckles and walks along, plucking up a beer with his free hand before motioning for his sister to come join him and the other two. He drops into a free seat next to Leah and picks up a piece of food, popping it into his mouth.
"I have to say," he begins after finishing his mouthful, "Jase really improved in his dancing overnight. It's a miracle!"
Sofia nods to Nate, but quickly makes a detour to pick up a glass of wine. She scurries over, taking a free seat next to her brother and setting down her much more balanced meal before her. She sips the wine, perking an eyebrow up at Nathan. "Jason seems like an alright dancer," she comments. "Better than Ada anyway. She's just all over the place." Her look might indicate that isn't entirely the truth.
Leah lifts both hands, giving off some jazz hands. "They maaaaay have had a fairy godmother." she admits with a grin.
Halisi goes quiet for a moment as she notices Ilyna's discomfort, picking out a light meal in silence before glancing her way and talking again. "So she's come out here for the wedding? I... imagine this is her first time meeting Li?" she asks, threading carefully, and only after Li moves off to try and make herself a burger further down the table.
Nathan pauses halfway to putting another slice of varren into his mouth to look at Leah. He squints and makes a great deal out of studying her, rubbing his chin for dramatic effect. "...Halisi? No, uh... hmm. Ilyna? No, no, wait, I got this." He clucks his tongue before snapping his fingers and pointing at her. "It was Jessica, wasn't it?"
Sofia leans over without looking away from her food to flick Nathan across the ear. "Don't be an ass."
Renala fills a plate with more food than one would think there's room for in the relatively small asari, then pours herself a glass of beer. She opts against any heavier alcohol, at least for the time being. Renala is already chewing on a piece of varren meat when she retakes her seat next to Steve.
Leah deadpans Nathan, narrowing her eyes on him. Although she doesn't comment on it, she seems to get even more offended when he suggests Jessica. "He's incapable." she says in response to Sofia before lifting her burger and taking a large bite. "So-..." she begins as she finishes her chewing and swallows hard. "...Who is Ada?" she asks, looking from Nathan to Sofia.
Va'ynna blushes as Jason makes a comment on her apperanace, letting out a small sigh. "I... it's not through any choice of mine," she says with a pointed glance towards Uvena who is on her way to get food. She raises her brows as she adds, "Thank you. You... look good, too." Va'ynna tenses up a little once Vasquez walks up to them, but she does return the nod.
Nathan flinches from the impact of finger on ear and rubs it with an indignant look on his face. "Can't take a joke," he mutters, although the smirk lingers on his face.
Sofia rolls her eyes at Nathan. "Still being an ass," she says in a sing song voice before responding to Leah. "She's our older sister. She can dance perfectly fine, but she's not humble about it. Always bragging. So I like to wind her up by commenting on how poor her dancing is. Her boyfriend finds it hilarious as she always gets this pink tinge to her cheeks."
Vasquez raises an eyebrow, Va'ynna subtle change in demeanor not going unnoticed. "I interrupt something?" she asks with a low-key smirk, wrapping an arm around Jason's waist and giving him a sidehug while studying the asari with an exaggeratedly questioning expression.
Jason glances down at his own attire, cocky smirk accompanying his shrug. "Well... You know." he jokes in response to the compliment, giving a wink Vasquez' way as he reaches over and picks a bit of varren meat off her plate and tosses it into his mouth. He slides an arm around Vasquez in turn. "Oh! Thanks for handling all the food!" he adds as an afterthought to Va'ynna as he chews.
Leah gives a short chuckle. "You all sound so... close." she comments before wolfing down another burger bite. "That's really nice. I'm not sure how you two put up with this one, though." she adds, giving a sidelong glance Nathan's way, though it quickly gives way to a smile.
Sofia giggles and nudges her brother with her elbow, causing him to drop the same slice of meat he was previously trying to eat. "Oh, it's easy. We hold all his embarrassing secrets and waggle them over his head whenever he tries to do something we don't like."
Ilyna begins picking out food for herself, a few pieces of meat and vegetables. She simply nods along with the first question, but her frown fades at the second. Ilyna even lets out a chuckle. "Yeah," she says. "It was... interesting to watch."
Nathan grumbles as he looks down at his plate, although he smiles warmly as he returns to nudge. "And I hold secrets that you three don't know that I know! Two words. Secret. Diaries." He gives a victorious and dramatic cackle before leaning back with a grin. "You were never very good at hiding them."
Halisi offers a small smile as they start to return to the table, Li having finished building a burger of questionable structural integrity. Mostly due to its excessive height. "It sounds like it went well, though...?"
Va'ynna raises her brows at the question, even if she knows it's most likely asked in jest. Her tension and the deeper purple color of her cheeks not improving any. She's far too preoccupied with this to show any reaction to Jason's gratitude. "What? No, I mean," she says, before letting out a long sigh. "No, I was... just contratulating him."
Leah furrows her brow. "Do you want me to kick his ass for you?" she offers Sofia. "Just say the word."
Jason gives a chuckle at Va'ynna's clear discomfort. "She's joking, V." he assures her as he picks another piece of meat off Vasquez' plate with his free hand. He studies it for a moment, nodding his approval for the provided food before eating it.
Vasquez flashes an amused smile, before noticing Jason taking another piece of food from her plate, causing her to nudge into him with a lighthearted scowl. "Get your own food!"
Sofia doesn't look the least bit phased. "Ah yes, the diary from when I was... what, ten? That doesn't bother me anymore, Nate." She smiles, devilishly. "You, on the other hand... well." She simply shrugs and grins across at Leah. "Mind sending me your contact deets? I'll give you some juicy stuff to hold over my brother."
Nathan immediately looks a little... worried as he glances between the two. He throws his hands up with a heavy sigh. "Fine! Fine. You win! I'll keep my trap shut." He grumbles under his breath, finally picking up that slice of meat and chewing on it. "No matter where I go, always getting ganged up on." He narrows his eyes at Sofia, then Leah. "Evil. Pair of you."
Vynira is making her way over to the food table, stopping by Ehanis (who has opted to enjoy her drink near the alcohol table) on the way to remind her that the alcohol is supposed to go along with something.
Ilyna glances over at Li, raising an eyebrow at the buger on her plate. She looks back at Halisi, and nods. "Yeah, I think so," Ilyna simply says, not wanting to be too specific now that they're within earshot of Li.
Leah perks up at the mention of dirt on Nathan. "I'll pay good credits for that." she jokes along before taking another big bite of her burger. "You-..mm-... just make it so easy!" she says to Nathan as she chews. Now having inhaled most of her burger, she sets the last bite down and wipes her hands on her napkin before climbing to her feet, the clack of her heels making themselves heard. "Alright, Nate. Enough food. Dance
Jason slips to the side as he's nudged, releasing his hold on Vasquez. "Fine, fine!" he chuckles. "I'll be back." He gives Va'ynna another nod before stepping off to grab some food.
Nathan blinks and looks down longingly at his food. "But... but... food." He pouts before relenting and standing up, aided by his sister pushing him along. Before he moves across, Sofia quickly stands up and whispers something into his ear that causes him to blink and have his cheeks tint red. He turns and shoos her back to her seat before stepping forward to snatch Leah's hand and take her to the dance floor.
Sofia grins from ear to ear, a smug look on her face as she sits back down. She smiles across to Tara, taking a sip of her wine. "I like Leah," she informs Tara. "She's funny. You're lucky to have her as a sister."
Va'ynna frowns, and closes her eyes for a moment. "I... know," she says. She looks back up between them as the blushing subsides, but Jason leaves before she get to say anything else. Va'ynna does not know what to do with herself now that she's left alone with Vasquez. Even if she's far less intimidating in her wedding dress, she still mostly know her by her reputation.
Vasquez ' expression turns mildly awkward when she realizes that it's now just her and Va'ynna. She clears her throat, looking briefly like she's going to say something, but opting instead to pick up a piece of kebab and eat it. Eventually, however, her attention returns to the asari. "Jason talks about you a lot. He seems to be friends with half the town. That's... just the kind of person he is." she remarks with a small
Leah gives Nathan a wink as he takes her hand. "Don't get left behind." she teases as she click-clacks her way to the dance floor. "Let's see if you can dance as well as you play." she adds through a big, wide smile. Almost a compliment!
Halisi offers only a smile in response, letting the subject go. "This has been wonderful, hasn't it?" she asks as she looks out across the hangar, her smile only growing. "A much needed break." she adds with a quiet chuckle.
Nathan quickly takes note of whatever song is currently playing and is already mapping out how to dance to it. "Yeah, yeah, all talk you are. Come on, let's see you actually put your money where your mouth is for once," he retorts, stopping as he turns to face her.
Va'ynna continues to avert eye contact for a while until Vasquez breaks the silence between them. "He's... a good person," she says. "I was completely lost when... I first set foot on this planet, but...." She trails off, looking down again. "I don't think I deserve half... of what he's done for me."
Vasquez lowers her gaze, a dark look replacing her smile as Va'ynna's words hit all the wrong buttons. "He is." she says, her voice near a whisper. The hand holding her plate starts to tremble slightly and she puts it down on the table with a loud clank. "I-... excuse me." she mutters, taking a quick look around before making towards the exit at a quick pace.
Leah cocks an eyebrow, though the smile remains. She snickers to herself as she studies him, scrunching up her nose. "You're kind of cute when you get all competetive." she says as she takes her place in front of him. "Kind of." she reiterates, lest he let it go to his ego. "Oh... Did I mention I took dance?" she asks coyly as her own competetive streak kicks in, clearly trying to intimidate him, "For eight years?"
Ilyna smiles in turn as she sets her plate down on the table. "Yeah," she says with a long sigh as she follows Halisi's glance. "I had no idea how much I needed it."
Nathan rolls his shoulders and perks an eyebrow. "Cute? Eh, I'll take it." He flashes her a wink as he spreads his arms out in a 'bring it' pose, chuckling. "Oho, so you might provide a challenge? Did I also mention I have three sisters, all of whom spent most of my life forcing me to dance with them?" He may be stretching the truth a little in that regard, but he won't let her know that. "Show me what you
Va'ynna is completely frozen as she watches Vasquez' reaction. Was it something she said? Well, of course it must have been, but why? A weak "sorry" is all she manages as the woman walks away.
Halisi follows Ilyna's sigh with a contented one of her own, a slightly amused smile crossing her face as she watches Leah and Nathan. "It's nice to be reminded... that there's room for happiness, and love, even out here. It's all too easy to lose that in all the suffering and loss..."
Tara furrows her eyebrows at first, not entirely sure about the designation, but she finds herself nodding, still looking down at her food. "She..." she frowns again as she searches for the right word. It was still a struggle to rethink her perspective on what had happened. "...saved me."
Sofia blinks, cocking an eyebrow. "I'm sorry? What do you mean?" The girl looks a little confused at that. "Did something happen?"
Tara blinks, gaze briefly darting up to Sofia's face before going back to her food. She turns entirely silent.
Sofia immediately looks worried and shakes her head vigorously, eyes wide. "Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to pry, I really shouldn't have. It's just that my mouth works quicker than my brain sometimes and it gets me in all sorts of trouble and I end up putting my foot in my mouth an-... I'll be quiet." She tries to take a big sip of wine, but instead starts to cough.
Leah tucks some hair back behind her ear before stepping in close and placing a hand on his side and gripping his other hand tightly. The song currently playing is meant for slow dancing, and that seems perfectly fine with Leah. She lets him lead, following his steps. Her heels- which should probably be an annoyance given their height for someone her size- don't seem to get in her way at all. She moves with a practiced grace
Steve picks at his food, but mostly focuses on his drink. His eyes are drawn to Nathan and Leah, the first to take to the dance floor. After a moment, he glances to Renala. "Well, Ren?" he asks, cocking a grin her way. "Whaddya think? Should we show 'em how it's done?"
Tara frowns, seemingly conflicted over whether to speak up, but eventually she does. "You... didn't do anything wrong." she almost-whispers before taking hold of her burger and taking a small bite.
Jason has made himself a drink and is putting some more food on his plate when he glances back in time to catch Vasquez making her retreat. He furrows his brow and pops a piece of varren meat into his mouth right from the container before leaving his things behind to make his way towards the exit to check up on her.
Nathan steps in with her, taking her hand and placing the other on the curve of her waist. He keeps the same smirk on his face as he begins to lead her in the dance, stepping in time with the music with the practiced ease of at least someone who has spent a fair bit of time being tutored, by one form or another. He keeps his stormy gaze on hers, perking an eyebrow. "Not bad," he comments softly, taking a
Vasquez has already made her way a good distance down the corridor when Jason catches up to her. She forces a small smile when she notices him, stopping and turning. "Hey..." she says quietly, her voice a little off. "I... was just going to the roof for some air."
Sofia clears her throat, face a little red from the coughing as she regards Tara. "You sure? I just... you always seem to quieten up around me and always after I say something and... I'm sorry." She smiles sheepishly, instead ducking to pick at her food. "Sorry."
Tara looks a little uncomfortable as Sofia continues to apologize, not used to dealing with such a situation. Unsure what to do, she ends up just going quiet, eating in silence.
Va'ynna looks towards Jason, and watches him leave the room. It's not until Uvena and Victoria returns with food that she returns to her seat, as the former has been thoughtful enough to prepare a plate for her as well.
Renala snorts initially at the prospect of dancing, but she eventually nods. "Give me a minute," she says with a mouthful of food.
Steve gives a single stern nod. "You got it, Ren." he responds as he takes a large sip from his drink.
Jason furrows his brow, not buying it. "Uh huh. Yeah." he agrees, glancing towards the stairs. "...Alright. Let's get some air." he agrees, deciding to let her tell him what's wrong at her own leisure. He loops an arm through hers as he joins her for the walk.
Leah remains in step with Nathan, making no attempt at trying to outdo him or show him up. She just.... enjoys. "This is nice." she says, casting a quick glance around. "All of it. Nice to just.... be okay, you know? For at least a little while?" She snickers to herself, her gaze lowering briefly as she gives a shake of her head. "Sorry. Just-... Been a rough year. Think I needed this."
Vasquez lets out a quiet sigh, nodding and continuing up the stairs, and down the corridor, which, of course, leads them back to the hangar, looking down on the others below.
Jason leads her over to the railing, giving a brief glance up to the open hatch above them. He releases her arm and leans against the railing, looking out over the other guests. "It's something, huh?" he asks. "All these people here for us?"
Nathan breathes a soft laugh, pulling her in a little more as he nods. "I know. I get it." He follows her eyes, taking in the other guests, his colleagues and then the woman he is currently dancing with. He seems to just sway and step with her, falling into a relaxed frame of mind that he hasn't quite gotten used to. "I... can't begin to imagine what the past year has been like for you." He flicks his eyes
over to Tara, then his mind wanders back to the plaques on the wall upstairs. "If you ever need a... um, if thing are a little hectic you-...". He furrows his brow slightly at his own inability to put a sentence together right now. "I'm here. If you ever need it. Alright?"
Vasquez stops to look down at the eating and dancing guests below. For a brief moment it looks like she's going to smile, but then: "Here for you." slips out. She winces slightly as she realizes her correction came out more bitter than intended, and she turns to the makeshift stairs with a frustrated sigh, heading up to the roof.
Leah follows his gaze, resting it on Tara for a moment before looking back to him. She gives a small nod in response, her smile growing slightly. "Yeah I-... Uhh... You've made that-...." she lowers her gaze as she trails off, simply nodding. "Thanks..." she decides on. A few moments of silence pass before she meets his gaze again. She gives him another smile, though there's a lingering bit of sadness behind her eyes.
Jason glances back at Vasquez, letting out a short sigh. He waits a moment, looking back out over the guests before following her up and casting a quick glance across the rooftop to locate her.
Vasquez has moved to the western part of the roof, standing beside the temporary stage. She's looking out at the sharp, snow-covered mountain peaks with crossed arms, hair blowing in the chilly wind that kindly waited to manifest until the cermony was over.
Nathan nods simply and he clears his throat, missing a step. He mutters a small curse word in his native tongue, using the slip up to focus on something other than his inability to talk. He seems to pull himself out of his blunder as he catches her gaze, the lingering emotion behind it briefly causing him to focus on it. He offers her a gentle smile and he shrugs softly. "I've... probably made that clear the
past six times I've said it before, huh?" He chuckles quietly, shaking his head as he looks down to their feet. "My bad."
Jason slowly meanders her way. As he reaches her, he takes a position behind her, wrapping both arms around her waist as he brushes some of her hair aside so he can lean down to rest his chin on her shoulder. "You've never struck me as the type to worry about popularity contests." he says, keeping his tone joking and light hearted as he looks out over the view.
Vasquez lets out a sound somewhere halfway between an exasperated sigh and an amused snort, more frustrated with her own thoughts than anything. She lowers her gaze to the edge of the roof, leaning her head just slightly against Jason's. "It's just a fact. And I don't blame them. You're always helping everyone. That's just who you are. A-... a good man."
Leah shrugs her shoulders, making no attempt at calling attention to his obvious misstep. "It's fine. It's-... I appreciate it, Nate." she offers sincerely, followed by a nod. "Really. It's been-... hard for me to find people I can count on." she continues, underselling just how hard her path has been, "But everything you're doing for me? For Tara? That-... It means a lot to me. To both of us. And that offer goes both ways.
Sofia looks up at her brother and Leah, smiling softly. "I said I'd show you how to dance, right?" She looks to Tara.
Jason gives Vasquez a bit of a squeeze. "You don't give yourself enough credit, Linda. These people are here for you, too. You just-...." he sighs, not wanting to hurt the mood any. "You don't let people in. And I get it, I do." he's quick to add, not wanting her to feel attacked. "After all the shit we've been through? The people we've watched-..." he pauses, finding himself unable to finish the sentence. He simply repeats
himself, nodding against her shoulder, "I get it. But they know you're a good person. Hell, a good portion of these people owe their livlihood to you. Because without you? There's no Redrock." He presses a gentle kiss against her shoulder before adding softly, "Without you there's no me..."
Nathan listens to her aptly, not interjecting as he watches her with an expression of both sincerity and concern. He sighs gently, a smile creasing onto his face, albeit small. "I'll hold you to that," he says with a gentle laugh. "I think we've both kinda gone through the grinder a few times, mm?" He shakes his head, glancing back down to their feet for a moment. He sucks in a deep breath and brings his gaze
back up. "But it all happens for a reason. It leads us down a new path that we can only discover by putting one foot in front of the other. We're here, in the now. Not the past. So... right here, now, let's enjoy this dance, the food, the company, the drinks. And forget about everything else." He gives a small smile. "If you feel like it?"
Sofia smiles and stands up, offering a hand to Tara. "Come on. It'll be fun. I saw your face earlier on when the others were dancing."
Vasquez remains quiet for a good while, nothing making noise around them but the wind, but eventually she moves one of her hands to rest on top of Jason's arm, feeling the synthetic limb through his suit. "I... I've hurt you so many times. I won't let it happen again. I won't. I can't. I'm going to do better." she says, more or less repeating part of what she said during their vows. As she goes quiet again, she sucks in
Sofia leads Tara towards the edge of the dance floor, to keep her out of center focus of any onlookers. "Okay, so, this is a slow dance. We'll do something a bit easier than Nate and Leah." She smiles. "Okay. Place your hand on my waist, here." She makes to guide Tara's hands to the respective positions. "And then into my other hand. I do the same. You okay?"
Tara looks rather apprehensive, but regardless she does as instructed, nodding to confirm the instructions.
Leah remains silent as he speaks. There's that almost naive optimism again. As much as she wants to, she's unable to resist the genuine smile it brings forth. But, as quickly as it appears, it slips back away when she considers what that means. Exactly what she's 'forgetting'. Or, more precisely, who. And then her brain is right back down the rabbit hole of whether or not she even deserves this happiness. But she's not going
to put that on Nathan. Not now. She pushes those thoughts aside and props her smile back up with a nod, pressing slightly closer to him. "Sounds like a good plan..." she says in almost a whisper as they continue on with their dance.
Jason doesn't respond immediately. "Linda... You know that wasn't your fault." he finally says with a sigh, well aware of the instance that plagues her the most. "But we do have to do better. Both of us. We have to be careful. Because it's not just about us anymore." he continues, sliding one arm back a bit so his hand can come to a rest on her belly.
Nathan nods as he looks down at her as she presses closer. He falls silent, merely content with leading her in this dance as the music drifts around them. And for the second time tonight, he finds his world shrinking down to this moment that he is in. His own doubts and memories still linger in the back of his mind, but he quashes them. For once, he'll follow his own damn advice. He catches his sister and Tara
Sofia gives Tara a reassuring look. "Good. Alright, now, I do the same." And she does so. "Now you just sway with the music." Sofia begins to gently rock with the music, taking a slow step to ease Tara into the transition. "Follow my foot with yours. Then your other foot and mine follows."
Leah follows Nathan's gaze and her smile grows tenfold. A chuckle of utter, pure emotion escapes her and, for a moment, she completely falls out of rhythm. Just the sight of Tara doing something as trivial as dancing hits her like a ton of bricks. Tara just.... being. It causes her eyes to begin watering up. Her hand moves from Nathan's side to her mouth. Realizing what she's doing, her cheeks redden and she's quick to move
her hand back to Nathan's side and she blink away the tears, though one escapes, running down her cheek. She bites at her lower lip as she stares at Nathan's chest, too embarassed to meet his gaze. "That's-..." she trails off, instead giving a bunch of nods, worried if she finishes her sentence she may cry.
Vasquez doesn't respond to his initial reassurance, but the final comment, and the hand on her belly elicits a quiet sniffle. She follows Jason's hand with her own, intertwining her fingers with his. Metal against flesh. But it's still him. Still the man she loves. Her husband. The father of their child. Nothing could change that. And nothing could tear them apart. No deranged parents back from the dead. No monsters in the
dark. No tragedy or trauma. Not even her own guilt, as difficult as that was to accept. Not anymore. A bond too strong to break. Her gaze lingers on their rings, a faint smile slowly, but surely, starting to creep across her lips. She brushes her cheek affectionately against the side of his head, before turning her upper body slightly, urging his head up with a movement of her shoulder and pressing a soft, loving
Tara blinks, eyebrows furrowing in concentration as she struggles to keep up with even the simplest of motions, her movements stiff and awkward.
Nathan watches Tara and Sofia for a moment, turning his head to Leah to comment. But he finds the words snatched out of his mouth at her reaction and his smile turns into a smaller, yet understanding one. He breathes out the smallest of laughs and he slips his hand free from hers, only to move it to her back. "Wonderful." He makes to pull her into a comforting hug, gently muttering to her, "You can cry if you
want. I'll cover for you. Tell everyone that you were overwhelmed by the ceremony or something." He can understand her reaction, knowing Tara's past and history, for her to do something so small is perhaps one of the biggest steps she can take.
Sofia smiles and does her best to guide Tara. She giggles and starts to softly count, "One, two. One, two. One, two." Each count works in time with her steps, a small way to try and help Tara with her timing. All the while, she keeps it slow and simple. We all have to start somewhere, after all.
Tara actually does seem to be helped by the counting. While her movements remain rigid and awkward-looking, the count helps her find the right rythm, following the instructed pace diligently. She seems to be entirely focused on doing this right, her gaze pointed straight down at their feet.
Others have began to take to the dance floor. Shane with Sam. Gage with Priya. Steve with Renala. The mood is light, with mostly subpar dancing taking place. But there's plenty of happiness. Laughs from the dance floor. Small conversations from the remaining tables as they eat their food.
Jason leans into the kiss, eyes closing as he wraps Vasquez up tightly in a hug. A brief moment of clarity hits him as it all settles in. That the woman in his arms is his wife. That she's carrying their child. This is his family. This is his family. And beneath them, the building is filled with loving friends. It gets a quick sniffle from him as the kiss breaks and it all sets in, but he's quick to roll his shoulders and play
it off as if it's the cold getting the best of him. He looks over her features, scanning her face as that lopsided grin of his tugs at his lips. "I love you so much." he says with utter and absolute sincerity.
Leah chews her lip for a moment, trying to get her emotions under control. A few moments of silence pass before she looks up to Nathan, bright green eyes glassy as can be. "I just want her to be happy." she says, her voice cracking as she struggles to contain the emotion as she speaks. She presses her forehead against Nathan's chest to hide her face as she allows herself a moment to regain her composure. She stops moving to the
Nathan holds her close, breathing another laugh out as he nods softly. "I know." He stops moving too, arms wrapped around her almost in a protective embrace as his eyes drift to his sister and Tara, a proud smile adorning his face as his unknowing sister has perhaps just helped Tara along without even realising it. He turns his gaze back down to look at Leah. He remains quiet, merely giving her the moment that
Sofia nods encouragingly at Tara. "There you go," she says. She keeps the same pace, counting on a little longer before drifting off with it once she is confident that Tara has found her pacing.
Vasquez studies him in silence, her smile only growing stronger. Jason's words cause a quiet, happy chuckle, and she turns around in his arms, moving her hands up to his neck as she kisses him again, brushing her scarred cheek against his as she breaks the kiss. "We're married!" she exclaims in a disbelieving whisper, another, almost overwhelmed laugh following as she kisses his cheek while pulling back to look him in
Tara 's gaze briefly darts up to Sofia when the counting trails off, a nervous expression crossing her face, but she manages to continue to move with the rythm. Her dancing still leaves a lot to be desired, but it's functional... sort of. While looking up she notices Leah and Nathan, causing her eyebrows to furrow slightly, an almost distrustful look crossing her face, her dancing stuttering slightly as her attention slips for a
Leah swallows hard and clears her throat. If there's one thing she's become an expert at, it's managing emotion. She loosens her hug as she looks back up at Nathan. "I'm sorry..." she offers softly while she brings one hand up and uses her thumb to wipe at the tears that have managed to find their way out. "I-..." she scrunches up her nose, giving a brief glance around, "...Fucking weddings, right?" she decides, blaming the
emotional outburst on the event with an embarassed snicker that's interrupted part way through by a sniffle.
Jason lets out a deep breath as he glances upwards. "I know! I can't believe you fell for it!" he teases, giving a wiggle of his eyebrows as he looks back to Vasquez. "Now you're stuck! Cuz this shit is official now!" he continues to playfully taunt through his big grin.
Nathan smiles down at her with a knowing glint in his eye. He shrugs a shoulder and nods along. "Yep. Damn wedding, getting you all emotional and shit." He chuckles softly, moving a hand to subtly brush a stray lock of her hair back. His face softens and his eyes crinkle with a gentle grin he gives her, though his gaze clearly shows that she has nothing to be embarrased about, less at all with him. "You good?"
Sofia blinks and follows Tara's gaze. However, seeing the interaction between the two, she smiles gently and looks back to Tara, offering her a reassuring smile. She clears her throat softly, giving her a playful smirk. "You're getting the hang of it. Quick learner!"
Vasquez lets out a chuckle, smiling widely at Jason's goofy eyebrow wiggling. "That it is... and I wouldn't have it any other way." she replies, her sincerity obvious despite her amusement over his taunting. She brings one hand up to his cheek, stroking her thumb across his skin as she looks at him, her grin just growing wider as another chuckle escapes her. A stark contrast to just a moment prior, she finds herself
Tara 's attention is directed back to the dancing by Sofia, and she resumes with a focused frown, still awkward, but nonetheless getting better at following along. She eventually looks up at Sofia as she's aware that the other dancing guests didn't spend the entire time staring at their feet. She looks slightly terrified of screwing up, gaze darting around Sofia's face as she searches for any indication that she's doing it
Leah sucks her lips in as she looks back up to Nathan. "I-..." she lets out a deep breath, nodding to herself, "...Yeah. I'm good." she decides, punctuating her words with a smile. She turns her head to the side, pressing her cheek against the much-taller man before her's chest as she brings her arms around him, hooking each hand over his shoulders. She begins to move to the music once again as she leans against him, albeit much
more lazily than before, more enjoying Nathan's company by this point than worrying about the dancing aspect of it. Her gaze shifts back to Sofia and Tara as they come into view again and the smile spreads back across her face.
Jason leans against Vasquez' hand, closing his eyes momentarily. When he opens them again, he sucks in a deep breath and gives a brief glance around the rooftop. "And-... Come on. All this? Preeeetty fucking romantic, right? Points?" he asks, tilting his head to the side. "A few? At least a couple?"
Vasquez moves back to Jason's side, slipping his arm over her shoulder and leaning against him with a slow, relaxed breath, looking out once again at the mountains. The same mountains beneath which they got engaged. The same exact spot they got engaged on. Their home. Yeah... worth a few points. "You did pretty good." she says with a snicker, nudging his neck with her head and rocking him slightly at the same time.
Jason gives a goofy fist pump with his free hand as he shifts against her a bit to get comfortable. A few moments pass before he speaks up. "...And we will have that honeymoon. I know shit is pretty hectic right now, but-..." he sheepishly shrugs his shoulders, feeling the slightest bit of discomfort over any sort of self praise, "...we deserve it. So as soon as everyone starts heading home? Just you and me for a few days,
alright?" he asks. It was something they had already spoken about, but given Vasquez' workaholic attitude, it seems necessary to get some sort of official verbal agreement. It wouldn't be out of place for her to blow off their own honeymoon in favor of more 14 hour days at her desk.
Vasquez ' hesitation is short-lived, and she nods slightly. "Y-... yeah. That... sounds nice. Would be nice to... not worry about anything else. For just a little while." she agrees with an almost wistful sigh. Her left hand is on his shoulder, thumb brushing back and forth across his neck as they look out at the rather spectacular view, Aite's rings rising like a bright band amid the jagged, toothlike mountains. "Just...
you and me..." she adds quietly, the thought causing a faint smile to cross her otherwise peaceful expression.
