#RedrockAgencyToo – November 15, 2017
While the song plays and the crowd continues to disperse from the bouqet toss, Leah- with the help of Mendez- moves Tara back to their table and returns to her seat.
Nathan finishes the dance with Uvena, giving her a quick hug and a thank you. He walks back with a somewhat awkward, but large grin on his face, running a hand through his hair. He smirks at his sister, making a subtle gesture to her as he steps near the table. "Have I ever mentioned I love weddings? I think this is the first time I've seen everyone this relaxed and upbeat."
Sofia smirks back, retaking her seat besides Tara as she holds the bouquet in her hands. "Told you you would admit it at least once tonight. You mostly like them just because you can show off, though. Poser." She rolls her eyes, leaning back in her seat.
Leah passes a smile Nathan's way as he returns. "They do have their charm..." she admits with a shrug, "...I guess." She runs a finger through her hair, careful to avoid knocking free the flower Sofia added. She passes a glance about the room, her smile widening slightly. The mood is a stark contrast to what her and her co-workers usually go through.
Nathan chuckles. "I guess." He passes a glance at her hair, noting the flower. "That looks nice. Adds to your natural charm," he muses. "And we both know you need all the help you can get with-" He recoils slightly as a stray flower is launched and smacks his right in the eyebrow. He snaps his head to his sister, glaring at her. "You little-"
Sofia wags a finger at Nathan after throwing the flower. "Be nice! This is a wedding, not a chance for you to shit-talk people." Her hand immediately snaps up to cover her mouth and she chuckles in embarrassment. "Um, excuse me language."
Leah gives Nathan an unamused glare as he speaks, well aware of where he's going with it. She gives a quick snicker as Sofia pelts him with a flower. "He's incapable. No class whatsoever!" she says to Sofia. "And I'll have you know-..." she continues, now turning her attention to Nathan, "...I am-... plenty charming! Thankyouverymuch! So-... Kiss my ass." she concludes, keeping it classy. She raises her middle finger to
Nathan narrows his eyes at the pair of them and he tisks. "Typical. Always ganging up on me. Right, you! Come on." He reaches out to snatch her hand that soars through the air like a majestic bird and drag her towards the dance floor. "We'll see if you can put your charm on the dance floor... again!" Despite it all, the man sports a smirk on his face, casting a glance over his shoulder to her... and subtly
Sofia less than subtly returns the gesture to Nathan, before leaning across to Tara and smiling. "I missed him. He's a butt, but I missed him."
Tara furrows her eyebrows as she watches Leah get pulled along to the dance floor, offering no comment as to whether Nathan is a butt or not.
Leah manages to keep upright as she's unexpectedly pulled to her feet. She passes an apologetic glance back over her shoulder to Tara as she's whisked away once again. She returns Nathan's smirk with one of her own, looking quite content to hit the dance floor once again despite her previous meltdown. As they reach the dance floor, she gains a brief expression of discomfort. "Hey-... uhh.... Thanks again. For-..." she offers
with a wince, seeming slightly embarassed at having even brought it up again. "Just-..." she closes her eyes and gives a shake of her head, her smile reappearing as she opens her eyes once again, "...Just thanks." she decides, hoping not to make a big thing of it.
Nathan listens to the music and turns to pull her in, readying to move to the music. His smile flickers and he shrugs a single shoulder, passing down a fuller, if albeit more subdued smile. Less that of his usual jovial persona and that of grim understanding. "Don't mention it. Alright?" He flashes her a wink and a glance over to the others. "They need you, so never think... what you thought up there." As
Leah steps in close as the music begins to play. When Nathan speaks, she chews on the inside of her cheek as she passes a glance back towards their table. Towards Tara. Her gaze lingers for a moment before she blinks hard, swallowing her emotions. "...Yeah." she agrees with a nod, sounding hopeful that they can leave it at that. Thankfully, Nathan's lack of footwork serves as a good distraction, pulling her gaze downward. Her
Tara blinks, looking over at Sofia. She gives a small shake of her head, lowering her head and looking a little bewildered by the question.
Nathan shakes his head to clear it and begins to step with the music, instinctively taking the lead again. His steps seem a little more rigid this time and he swallows, his brow knitting as he focuses on getting back in time with the music. "Head is completely in the game! One hundred percent. This is just me warming up- giving you a chance to warm up." He squints his eyes at her, but he quickly relents
Sofia wags a finger under Tara's nose. "Ah ah, you're not using silence this time! Come on, what's up? Except the ankle, obviously." She scoots her chair around to face Tara. She rests the bouquet across her lap, puts her elbows on her knees and props up her head with her hands. She grins. "You can tell me."
Leah blinks a couple of times, a single eyebrow raising as she studies Nathan. "O-kaaaay~" she hums. "You okay, Nate? You're not having a stroke on me or anything, right? ...Do people get hot when they have strokes?" She seems to get sidetracked by her own question, glancing off to the side as she considers it. "Maybe that's a heart attack.... Wait, is numbness a stroke? No-... Numbness is definitely a heart attack!
Or-... Or maybe it's both...?" She frowns, looking more confused than when she started, "So who in the hell gets hot?" she rambles, scrunching up her nose as she studies Nathan, having lost the thread somewhere along the way. Somehow, she still manages to keep rhythm.
Tara seems more than a little puzzled. She lowers her gaze as Sofia focuses on her, a confused frown on her face. "I-... I don't understand." she says quietly, sounding almost frightened that her inability to answer will cause trouble.
Sofia playfully rolls her eyes and motions to Leah and Nathan. "You seem to frown at my brother a lot. Uh, this." She then pulls a quick frown before smiling again. "That. You do that. Did he do something stupid again?"
Nathan clears his throat, allowing her tangent to cover for his blunders. He starts to get more into the music and he decides to cut her ramble short by turning and letting her move out in a spin, arm outstretched. As she reaches the apex of the move, he would tug her back in and then continue the dance. "Most people on a hot and sunny day?" He offers, keeping his focus down on her as his smile begins to
creep back onto his face, although this comes alongside a red tint to his face. "Heh, kinda cute when you go off on a tangent," he remarks before pausing and adding, "Kinda. Don't let it go to your head."
Tara glances out toward Leah and Nathan before turning back to Sofia. Her words cause her eyes to widen, and she shakes her head, keeping her gaze low. "No, ma'am."
Sofia perks her eyebrows up. "Ma'am? Don't be silly, I already told you to just call me Sofia." Sofia looks a little off put by the sudden formalities and her cheeks redden. "Um, don't worry about it. Forget I asked!" She nods sharply.
Leah executes the spin with grace, allowing a small chuckle to escape as she's pulled back in. "Oh, of course! How could I be so stupid! I forgot how hot and sunny it gets in the hangar. My apologies." she says with a roll of her eyes. As he comments on her rambling, a bit of red creeps into her cheeks, her gaze lowering to his shirt as she bites at her lower lip, unsure of how to respond for once. Ignoring it seems to be
what she decides on. "You seem to be in high demand tonight." she decides, her attention shooting Uvena's way briefly. "Was worried I was just gonna get left overs." she teases.
Nathan opens his mouth to respond to the initial comment before he closes it. Yeah, got him there. He perks an eyebrow as he steps to the music, casting his eyes towardsd Uvena for the moment as he leans back as a brief lull in the music, only to lean right back in as it picks up again. "Pfft, I promised you a dance, didn't I? I keep my promises," he murmurs as he smirks down at her. "And besides... I
wasn't going to let you get away from our earlier dance that easily. You talked big, after all. Had to see if you measure up to it."
Tara looks a little flustered at the reminder, mumbling a quiet "Sorry." before going silent, turning her attention to Leah and Nathan, watching them dance.
Leah finally manages to meet Nathan's gaze again. The dancing seems to come easy to her. Second nature, even. The tall heels don't seem to hinder her movement in any way. "And...?" she asks, giving a small shrug of her shoulders as she searches his eyes, "Do I?"
Nathan hums and seems to mull over the question for the moment, stepping up to her so that his right shoulder and hers press. He begins to walk her around a full circle, his eyes meeting hers, steps with the music. He then stops, turns his body and makes to dip her down as the music draws to a close. He tilts his head faintly and smiles, a warm and genuine one. "Yes," he says. "You do."
Sofia clears her throat and shuffles her chair back with a few awkward squeaks of chair on floor. She looks to her brother and Leah and lets out a small, "Awwww." She glances out of the corner of her eyes to Tara, smirking. "I think we both know where they went off to, hmm? I mean, come on, look at them!"
Tara furrows her eyebrows again. "What...?" she asks while turning her attention to Sofia, her tone not particularly making clear whether she's asking out of genuine confusion or not.
Uvena seems oblivious to Nathan and Leah glancing her way. She is currently trying to pull Renala out of her chair for a short dance, to no avail.
Leah leans back as she's dipped, trusting Nathan to keep her from dropping. Her arms moving to around his neck, her left hand clasped around her right wrist as she returns to her upright position once the music has faded out. A short, genuine giggle escapes her and it doesn't seem like she's quite ready to remove her hands from around his neck. So she doesn't. "So maaaaybe you've got a few moves." she admits as she looks up
Sofia opens her mouth to speak but deflates and shrugs. "Nothing...". She leans back in her chair and picks at one of the petals.
Tara lets awkward silence fill the space between them after Sofia offers no response, her attention turning back to the dancing pair.
Nathan breathes a short laugh out and shrugs his shoulders, having no trouble keeping the smaller woman suspended in his arms. He flashes her a wink with his stormy eyes and smirks. "I'll take it," he murmurs. "Even if it pains you so to admit it." He lingers for a moment, just letting the silence drift between them before he slowly pulls her back up, straightening his back. The smile persists.
Leah remains in place as they straighten back up, making no attempt at either leaving the dance floor or removing her arms from around Nathan's neck as the next song begins to play, though she remains silent. It seems clear that somethings on her mind. Her mouth opens, but she stops herself, simply pursing her lips in a smile and swallowing. Her gaze wanders a bit, sweeping over the other guests before coming to a stop on
Priya and Shane who have returned to the dance floor. "...This is nice." she decides softly with a nod.
Nathan 's hands remain in place at the small of her back and waist as he follows her gaze, a slow nod following as he gently clucks his tongue. "Yeah," he says in agreement, turning his gaze back to look down at her. He opens his mouth, closes it, hums a little, tries again, fails, closes his mouth. "...I... uh, hmm. You...". He scrunches up his brow and puffs out his cheeks. "...have something on your
mind?" Despite his floundering, he seems quite content where he is, although he also looks a little like a fish out of water.
Leah sucks in her lower lip with a "Hmm?" as her big green eyes return to meet Nathan's gaze. She furrows her brow, giving a few shakes of her head. "No-... No. Nothing." she assures none too convincingly. "Just-... Having a good time." She forces a smile into place as she adjusts her arms around his neck, swaying slowly from side to side.
Nathan finds himself just matching her in movement, sliding the other hand to rest on her waist as he perks an eyebrow at her. Once more, he finds himself unsure of whether to push the issue or not, nodding slowly for the moment. The pair rotate gently and he sucks in a deep breath. "Well... I... hmm, good time. Uh, having a good time. Too." He glances to the side and exhales said breath. "...That damn
sun, ammirite? Being all... hot and... sunny." Nathan closes his eyes, before reopening them and offering her an awkward smile. "..."
Leah's expression turns to one of almost frustration as she agrees, a stark change in disposition in just a few minutes time. "Mmhmm... Damn hot and sunny.... sun...." she sighs. A few moments of silence pass before she speaks again. "You suck. You know that?" she decides, looking up at Nathan as if he did something wrong.
Sofia brings her hand up to her forehead and drags it down her face. "Oh my Gooood. Nate you're useless." As Nathan and Leah rotate and Nathan is facing her way, she stands up and starts frantically motioning with her hands towards Leah, mouthing at him, 'Just kiss her!' She then drops back into her seat, huffing.
Tara blinks, looking on with a puzzled expression at Sofia's gesticulating. After a moment's hesitation she asks: "Are... you okay?"
Nathan looks back and he opens his mouth to protest, before he catches sight of his sister. He frowns, then his eyes widen. Deer caught in headlights. He looks down at Leah and gives her an apologetic look for the moment. "...Yeah, I've heard. Look, let me... try something. And please don't slap me across the room. I've never been good at this a- ah, just... hell with it." He reaches up to lay his hand at
the back of her neck, before leaning in to steal a quick kiss. And silently praying he doesn't die from this.
Sofia looks at Tara. "My brother is an idiot. So, no, not okay. He's such a- oh, finally! As if the whole slow dancing and tango wasn't hint enough."
Leah furrows her brow as Nathan warns her. "Try something...? What are you-..." she begins before lips are coming at her. Her big green eyes nearly double in size, remaining wide open as his lips find hers. The kiss is enough to halt her swaying entirely. It's awkward, but she doesn't pull away. It takes her a moment to process what is happening, but soon enough her eyes close. Once he pulls away, her eyes slowly open back
up, shifting back and forth between his. She swallows hard and her gaze darts about the room without turning her head. "What-.... what's wrong with you?!" she asks in a flustered whisper, "Didn't you hear anything I said? Nuclear bomb!" Whether for punctuation to underline her earlier point, or just her emotions getting the best of her is unclear, but a blue shimmer momentarily envelopes her before dissipating. "You
can't just-... Naaate!" she whines, as red as a tomato. Despite her protesting, her arms remain around his neck.
Nathan pulls back and he goes utterly beetroot red, eyes shooting wide. He catches his sister's eye and gives her perhaps the greatest death glare in all of know history. "I- look, I- well I mean...you're ju- I... you're not a bomb an- okay, so I might've misread the situation an- but you... I...!" As she shimmers, his hands tighten instead of retreating and he shakes his head, his voice frantic, but quiet
as he tries to process the fact that this did not go in any shape or form the way he thought it would. "I'm sorry! I just- with the dancing and the... you... uuuuuhhhhhh." He shrugs, finding himself rooted to the spot. "I like you. Alright?! I... look I'm sorry, I can just... go that way and- Oh scheiße, ich hab totale scheiße gebaut...oder?"
Leah continues to speak in a whisper, her usual frantic pace making a return as she speaks over Nathan. "I am! I am a bomb! I just told you about-... And-... Why?!" A deep frown settles into her features as she studies him. "You didn't misread the situation!" she admits in immediate response with a scoff, seeming even more frustrated by that fact, "...The-... The dancing..." she agrees, "...And the wedding... and-... Why do
you have to be so fucking charming?" she accuses, as if it's an insult, which ends up turning into a drawn out whine. Her pace only quickens as Nathan finishes up. "And I like you, too! And that's why-... And-..." she stammers, still rapid firing in a whisper, "...Why you can't just do this! Because now I want to kiss you again and that really makes me want to hit you! AndIhavenoideawhatyoujustsaidbecause-...
Stupid-... fucking translator and-..." She scrunches up her nose as she looks up at him, eyes turning a bit glassy. "I'm just going to kiss you, okay?" she asks, nodding her head as she speaks. She doesn't await a response before closing her eyes and using her grip around his neck to steady herself, standing on her tippy toes in an attempt at getting the height needed to reach his lips.
Tara continues to stare at the two of them, a look of disbelief and fascination having replaced her wide-eyed stare.
Nathan tries to match Leah in terms of talking over the top of her and the result is, to outsides at least, a barrage of hisses and whispered voices that don't quite make sense. "You're not an- what do you mean w- well, I'm glad and... yeah, dancing and... wedding!" The compliment seems to turn, at least into his head, as some sort of insult or dig at his character. "Well, I'm sorry for be- well, that's
bloody great! A- wha- well, then just... and what I said doesn't matter be-" He looks down at her and he sucks in a deep breath, nods dumbly and says, "Yeah, that sounds good," just managing to squeeze it in before he leans down to lessen the journey for her, locking their lips together as his eyes drift close, hand still sitting at waist and back of neck.
Sofia claps her hands together and lets out a small squeal, covering her mouth with clasped fists. "I knew it! I knew it! It's so- eeeee!"
Leah's hands remain at the back of Nathan's neck as she leans into the kiss as much as she can from her much lower position. But it ends abruptly as a jolt of static electricity is discharged, causing Leah to reel back onto her heels with a wince. It's nothing serious, just a quick zap. "Fuck!" she whines which is followed by a soft: "....Sorry." Her embarassment grows exponentially judging by the deepening red on her
cheeks. "It's-... Biotics-..." she stammers in almost a mutter, "They-..... Thanks! Uhh-... for the dance and-..." she rambles, brain scrambling for an exit strategy, feeling she's made a fool of herself. She releases the grip on her wrist, tracing her thumbs along his collar until they come to the front of his shirt. Her gaze moves to his tie and she runs her index finger along it, giving a nod. "...Yeah! I
should-..." she thumbs over towards the table, discomfort all over her face, "...Get back to Tara.... And stuff........."
Nathan lets out a small, muffled sound of shock, leaning back suddenly. "Ah, wh- no it's fine!" He trails his hand from her neck to her shoulder before pulling both away. "Yeah, you're welcome! It was... uh, nice and it-um... yeah." He tracks her hands as they travel from collar to shirt to tie. He inhales sharply and nods, then shakes his head, then nods, not entirely sure what he's supposed to do from
this point. If there was anyone more out of their element than right now... "I should... go back to Sofia! Who-... is in that direction too...". He hums and looks back down, then lifts his gaze to Leah's, a small smile creeping onto his face. He reaches up with his hands to wrap around hers for the moment, giving them a gentle squeeze. "...Look I-... if you're not comfortable... I... you're great."
Leah's discomfort only grows as Nathan speaks. When he mentions Sofia, she winces, suddenly realizing their kiss probably didn't go unnoticed. She doesn't dare look her way. She lowers her gaze, biting her lower lip as she nods along until he releases his hold on her hands. As she looks back up to him, she closes her eyes and scrunches up her nose, clearly wanting to say something. But all she manages is an embarassed groan
and a nod. She sucks in a deep breath as she regains her composure, but her face immediately contorts right back into an awkward expression, "Sorry!" she exclaims without giving any context for what she's apologizing for.
Nathan opens and closes his mouth, inhaling a deep breath once more and holding it as he is really not sure how to continue this. He reaches behind and rubs the back of his neck, chewing on his lower lip as he glances off to the side. At her sudden blurt, he looks back at her with wide eyes, confusion reigning supreme right now. "Fooooor?" He asks very slowly, lowering his hand to his side.
Leah rolls her eyes. "What do you mean-... For making this all... awkward! You really are an idiot, you know that?" she sighs, but a slight smirk finally returns to her face at Nathan's cluelessness. As she studies him, however, the smile slowly fades away. "I do like you, Nate. You're a good guy. You make me smile." she says, sincerity in her voice. "I just-... Things are complicated with me." she settles on, "Too
complicated." she adds, almost apologetically. She gives a glance around, a sudden bit of self consciousness settling in as they're the only couple on the dance floor not dancing. "I should-... We should-..." she gestures back towards their table.
Nathan blinks and clears his throat. "Oh, right. Well, I think I did that first so... don't take all the credit, eh?" He looks back to her with an awkward smile, but it flickers away as talks. He sighs softly and nods, glancing down at the ground for the moment. "We will. In a second, just-..." He wets his lips and takes a moment to compose himself. "I'm useless. Okay? When it comes to this... kinda stuff.
Explosives, mechs, general banter, all good. This? I'm useless. And I like you too, started to become obvious to me recently. And after..." He glances up at the gym before looking back to her. "I get it. I really, really do. So... if this is where you need to draw the line, I'll understand. If you want time, have it. But... I'll be here. Waiting. And... I thought you should know that." He lets out a
Leah's gaze lowers once again as Nathan glances towards the gym, still feeling a bit self conscious about her little meltdown. But a smile begins to spread across her features as he offers her time. "...Thanks." she says, finally meeting his gaze again once he's finished speaking. She sucks in a deep breath and steps forward, planting an unsuccessful peck aimed for his lips. Given her height and the quick lean she has to do
to reach, it ends up mostly hitting his cheek, only overlapping the corner of his mouth, adding to the night's awkwardness. But it seems Leah is out of embarassment, and simply scowls at her failed attempt. "Fuck it. I tried." she decides. She gives a shrug of her shoulders and reaches for his left hand with her right. Interlocking her fingers with his, she tugs him back towards the table.
Nathan offers her a smile and a gentle nod. "Anytime." He doesn't move as she pecks at the corner of his mouth and or cheek, but it seems to calm him more than send him into another fit of awkward panic. A soft chuckle rumbles in his chest and he playfully rolls his eyes, giving her hand a small squeeze as she begins to tug him back to their table. "Yup, you tried. Might need to get you some taller heels.
Sofia watches her brother and Leah as they come back hand in hand, and she frantically starts to shift so it looks like she was just casually sitting here, not at all spying on their dance and kiss. "Act natural!" She whispers to Tara.
Tara makes absolutely no effort to hide her staring as the two turn and start heading back. Only when Sofia speaks does her expression change, her eyes widening as she glances over at her in confusion, unsure what to do. She ends up lowering her gaze to the ice on her ankle.
Leah glances down at her shoes, stopping for a moment as she lifts one foot off the ground, pointing to it with her free hand. "Have you seen these things?! They don't get much taller! This is the best I've got, alright?!" she complains, "Any higher and I might as well just walk around on stilts! And do you have any idea how uncomfortable these are?! They suck! You try dancing around in them all night!" she rants.
Nathan snorts and covers his mouth with the back of his hand, before laughing and shaking his head. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I can just imagine it now, you waddling through Falls on a pair of stiilllttsspfffttthahahaha!" He shakes his head and continues walking, now making it his turn to tug her along. "But! To be fair to you, heels are uncomfortable as all hell. Lost a bet and ended up trying to walk in a
Leah's frown deepens as Nathan continues to mock her height. "Oh fuck off..." she mutters. Though when he mentions his experience with heels, her frown is wiped clean off, replaced with a big grin. "Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease tell me there's photos!" she pleads. "Pleeeeeeeeeease!"
Nathan smirks down at her and flashes her a wink. "Maybe. If you're good, I'll show them to you... maybe." As they approach the table, he pauses to look at Tara and Sofia. Tara seems pretty normal to him, but he knows when his sister is trying, and failing, to act casual. And it seems he has completely forgotten he is currently holding Leah's hand as he glowers at his sister. "Alright, what did you do?"
Tara 's gaze darts up to Leah and Nathan pretty much as soon as they arrive, going back and forth from one to the other, her expression hard to read.
Sofia blinks and looks back to Nathan, giving a "Nuthin'" and a casual shrug. But the corner of her mouth quivers in a smirk as she watches the pair of them.
Leah cocks an eyebrow. "I will find them!" she threatens Nathan through her grin. As they reach the table, her grin begins to fade, suddenly reminded of how awkward the whole situation was and- more importantly- that these two probably watched the whole thing. She looks from Sofia to Tara, uncomfortable look on her face. "Soooooo~ how are you two?"
Tara lowers her gaze as she's addressed, looking a little awkward. She waits for Sofia to answer the question for them both.
Sofia stifles her giggle, giving a casual pout and a shrug of her shoulders. "Chillin'." She darts her mismatched eyes between the two of them, her grin growing harder and harder to hide.
Nathan clears his throat and tugs a little at his collar. "Well, uhhh... Tara! How's the ankle?" Diversion! Excellent.
Leah turns a shade of red as Sofia's grin grows more apparent. "...Yeah!" she chimes in behind Nathan, happy for the diversion. "Feeling any better?" she adds with a glance Tara's way, hand still idly clutching Nathan's.
Tara furrows her eyebrows slightly, glancing at her ankle. "Better." she says quietly, giving a small nod.
Nathan nods and places his free hand on his hip, nodding again much more firmly as he looks to Leah. "Better! It's better. That's good, it's an improvement. You'll be back on the dancefloor in no time," he says, redirecting the latter to Tara. His distraction falters as he glances at his sister...
Sofia very obviously picks up the bouquet and makes a point of sniffing at the flowers, before setting it on the table as her grin breaks out without her realising.
Leah offers Tara a smile before turning to Nathan with a nod. "Better!" she repeats. "Better is.... well it's better!" Her gaze is drawn to Sofia, which seems to remind her that her hand is grasping Nathan's. She's quick to release it and fold her arms across her chest. She gives a sigh and a roll of her eyes as she browbeats both Sofia and Tara. "Okay, we kissed, I get it! Don't make it a whole big thing!" she says. After a
brief pause, she seems to consider something and looks apologetically towards Nathan, "Not that it wasn't-... It was a nice kiss!" she clarifies, words spilling forth a mile-a-minute, worried she may have hurt his feelings. "I just mean-.... Fuck. I'm making it awkward again, aren't I?" she frowns, scrunching up her nose. "This is awkward. It's awkward, isn't it?" she winces, looking from Nathan to Sofia, "Soooooo~
I'm just going to shut up~" she decides in a singsongy voice, turning more and more red with each word. She leans over, picking a piece of cold food off her plate and jamming it into her mouth. "This is good." she says as she chews loudly. "Really good. Like reeeeeally good. You should try it. All of you."
Nathan snaps his hand to his pocket, shoving it in and opening his mouth to scold Sofia when Leah's comment draws an odd look from him. Her clarification causes his brow to scrunch up and a slight pout to emerge on his lips as she starts to power up her motor-mouth. He slowly looks back to his sister as the biotic next to him starts to jam food into her mouth and he gives Sofia a warning look, raising a
Nathan shakes his head. "Stop stirring shit. Yes, we kissed. Yes, it was nice. Yes, it's awkward but not unpleasantly. So be quiet, stop teasing and go have some more wine." He points towards the buffet and towards the drinks, although a faint smirk is on his face. He then turns back to Leah and gives her a sheepish look and a gentle shrug. "Eheh... sisters, right?"
Leah only turns more red at Sofia's comment. She takes a seat beside Tara, resting an elbow against the table and propping up her chin with her hand, pointedly avoiding any eye contact. "Mmhmm.... Sisters..." she agrees half heartedly. It causes her gaze to move to Tara. She reaches out with her free hand, giving the girl a pat on the shoulder, a small smile tugging at her lips despite the discomfort and teasing.
Sofia stands up and begins to move off, passing by Leah. The young woman quickly makes to hug Leah from the side, whisper in her ear, "He already looks a little better," then dash off towards the wine and buffet, smiling at others as she passes by.
Leah closes her eyes, giving an embarassed little shake of her head in response to the hug, though her smile widens a bit. It causes her attention to shift towards Nathan for a brief moment, but she's quick to break her staring and look back Tara's way. As she notices the slight drop in demeanor, she furrows her brow. "What's the matter?" she asks.
Nathan has already shuffled back to his seat to stare at his now cold food, his face akin to one who has just perhaps lost the most important thing in life at that moment in time. He looks at the burger, shaking his head softly. "Dammit," he mutters softly.
Tara blinks, a little caught off-guard by the question. She looks up at Leah, shaking her head slightly.
Leah cocks her head to the side, causing a stray bit of hair to fall free. She scrunches up her nose before tucking it back into place. "You sure? You look a little down." she adds, doing her best not to be pushy about it, but opening an avenue in case Tara needs to talk.
