Ehanis stops at the entrance the pod room, and looks it over for any hostiles. If there's nobody there to jump at her, she'll jog over to the door to wait for Nathan to catch up.
Ilyna keeps her barrier up, but she is starting to tire after the husks' relentless pummeling. "How many of them can there be?" she asks, talking to nobody in particular. Her voice isn't loud either, so it's entirely likely it'll be drowned out by the noise of combat.
Numairian holds the Falcon with appreciative reverence after the final, grand explosion. Awe and giddiness bubble in his chest, finally culminating in a loud "Fuck yeah!" echoing Jessica's sentiment. From his sitting position he looks up at her, holding his hands in mock defense after the weapon has been snatched away. After a few moments of catching his breath, he notices the hand offered
to him, and accepts with a shallow nod. Once he's back on his feet he holds his arms out and ducks his head, "I only borrowed your booms." He corrects, scooping his Carnifex off his hip and heading for the corridor. "Won't happen again."
Bang. Bang. Bang. Two more husks down from Leah's shots. Just eight or so left banging on the barrier. None of the remaining ones are moving around the pillar, at least for now. One is starting to generate another electrical discharge.
ColonistMother looks back just in time to see the possessed Collector disintegrating. She's still holding her son tight, looking to Zaylus and Jessica. "What do we do?!" she calls out.
HMECForeman slowly clambers to his feet, kneeling down next to the security officer. He lets out a sigh and takes his carbine after realizing the man that saved him is dead.
Nathan follows Ehanis, giving his own cursory sweep around the room before stopping by the door. He watches it for a moment, looking it over as he runs his hand across the surface of the door. He raps his knuckles against it before sucking in a deep breath through clenched teeth. "Shit. Not good. This door is thick," he says to Ehanis. "It'd take two charges to get through it... right, your Warp, how effective is it at
AllianceMarine lets out a woop as Zaylus takes out the possessed Captain, readying his weapon again after Jessica brushes off his help. "We have to get these folks out of here!"
EclipseBiotic looks around for more targets, finding none. SHe's breathing heavily, shaking slightly. Hearing the sounds of combat upstairs she jumps up, her biotics flaring to accelerate her. She lands with a thump, one hand bracing against the ground. SHe still hasn't bothered to unholster any weapons. Making a quick assessment of the situation she calls out to Ilyna. "Hey! Drop the barrier!"
Elena is back to back with Jattic now, the husks having surrounded the two of them. She lodges her knife in the skull of one, but looses it as the creature falls back and is trampled. WIth only her omni-saw and no blade armor she's struggling, one of her shoulderplates being torn off her armor as the cybernetic monsters claw at her. One of them has practically climbed her. She manages to free her revolver from her hip
with her free hand while using the other to brace against the husk's throat, a loud bang ringing out as she fires off a shot through it's chin, the smell of gunpowder mixing with nanite-infused blood and musty alien air.
Ehanis lets out a frustrated sigh. "I don't fucking know," she says, but a faint biotic shimmer does form around her. "I'm almost spent, but if it's our only option...." She takes a step back, and gets on comms. "Okay, we're about to fuck this door up," she says. "We're giving it our best, at least. Anyway, move it!" She's still mustering her biotics given the gradual increase in intensity.
Nathan throws his free hand up. "Don't get snappy with me! I'm just trying to do my fucking job!" He backs up and starts pulling off his fragmentation grenades and points at the centre of the door. "Right there. Hit it there. I'll put my frags on it and then hit them with the launcher. So, uh, yeah. Anyone on the other side, back up."
Oxaris' instincts prove accurate. Five Collectors are running down the tunnel, one of them a particle beam-wielding captain and the rest rifle-armed drones. A yellow lance shoots down the corridor towards her with no hesitation, covering the drones as they rush closer.
Nadia, of course, is not patched into the comms, and remains standing right up against the door with Li in her arms.
Oxaris rolls to the side as the beam strikes the spot she was laying in, springing to her feet in one smooth motion. 'Stimulant Pack administered. Caution Advised.' The surge of drugs in her system once more enhances her sight, her reflexes and, for a moment, it seems as if everything was slowing down. "Move away from the door!" she shouts down to Nadia. "They're going to blow it!" She returns fire at the four drones,
popping disciplined fire right for their domes as she weaves back to the corner of the tunnel, using the curve as a form of cover. "We're about to be over-run," she announces over comms. "Holding position as best I can!" She primes an overload and fires it at the group, aiming to arc it between two of them to buy her a few seconds to empty bullets into their bodies.
Nadia is briefly confused, but her eyes widen and she hurries away from the door, running towards Oxaris. She's quite unable to fight while holding on to Li, and ends up pressing against a crevice in the tunnel wall as shots fly her way.
Ilyna pushes her barrier outward slightly as it bursts, hoping to topple the creatures to give the others a better shot at them. She takes a few steps back while opening fire in bursts at the approaching creatures with the alien SMG in her hands.
Jessica helps to tug Zaylus back to his feet, giving an affirmative grunt to his comment. She moves over to the weapon pile and hazards another glance for anything that might be useful. Ahh. That rocket launcher. No way she's leaving without that. The Falcon is holstered and, soon enough, the Cobra joins it. She scoops up the serrated blade, as well, and latches it onto her boot. Batarian design always has suited her style.
Standing back up, she collects her shotgun from the ground and racks it. The mother's question causes her to look around, hoping for someone else to answer her question. "I-..." she stammers before her attention is pulled to the woman squirming on the ground. The marine's comment gets a number of nods out of her and she gestures towards the wounded woman and then Lucy. "Someone-... uhh-.... get them ready to leave, mmm?!"
Jattic stumbles slightly as another husk attempts to mount him. He's definitely running on fumes at this point. His grunts are almost pained at this point, every swing of his enforcement gauntlet taking all the strength he can muster. But he's not giving up. Help is coming. He gets one gauntlet under the chin of the husk clawing at him to create enough space to slam his gauntlet into it as more grasp at his dangerous armor.
Leah casts a brief glance to Jason and Ilyna as she takes a step back to catch her breath. "They're thinning out up here!" she calls out over comms.
Jason once again shoulders the large weapon, holding his fire as no others attempt to round the pillars. As soon as Ilyna drops her barrier, however, the chamber is once more filled with the echo of fully automatic Revenant gunfire. "There's no telling how many more of these things are in here! The moment we've got an opening, we need to get these people out of here!"
Several staggered husks drop as Jason and Ilyna open fire at them. The Eclipse mercenary wastes no time in charging in at the last few, tossing several of them aside with her mere arrival. She channels energy into her barrier as shots from the others strike her, and then suddenly expels it in a blast that smears the last few against the tunnel walls. "WOO! COME ON!" she shouts, barely waiting a moment before rushing down the tunnel
Ehanis ignores Nathan's complaint about her tone as she continues to focus on preparing another warp field, but she does nod at his target. She gives it five seconds after Oxaris is done talking before she lets it all out in a brightly glowing warp field aimed for Nathan's spot. Her biotics are very strong for someone her age, at the cost of efficiency and endurance.
Elena lets out a cry as another husk jumps her and she is toppled, slamming against the floor. She struggles to hold it off with her right arm while firing a fruitless revolver shot into its abdomen. "FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK!" More husks are swarming her and she struggles to break free as another tears at her helmet and a third peels away her right greave, clawing into her leg.
Nathan immediately throws his frag onto the warped spot, unholsters Lil' Lucy, aims and fires a fragmentation round right onto the other grenade for a nice combo detonation. Obviously from a reasonable distance and ensuring he won't accidentally blow up Ehanis... much.
AllianceMarine moves over to the young colonist, detaching a medigel canister and starting to apply it to her arm, even though it's looking like a hopeless case. "Come on... we have to get you out of here." he says, helping the girl to her feet. "Can you walk?!"
Two drones drop to Oxaris' precise fire, and another that didn't go down remains stunned by the overload while the last one and the Captain advances. A volley of assault rifle fire comes her way, eating away at her shields. The Captain is lining up another particle beam shot.
Zaylus stops in his tracks as he painfully remembers the others in the chamber, who he promised they would help. He spins back on his heels to face Jessica, looking down at the shotgun in her hands, and the heavy weapons on her person. "Shit, yeah fine." He mutters, hopping back toward the young colonist. "Just, help them!" He directs in return, waving toward the corridor. There's no
time to argue, and she's obviously armed to the teeth. He glances toward the young woman, seeing that she's being tended to and calls out loudly for the doctor.
A succession of explosions thunder in the empty pod chamber, rocking the room and causing dust and debris to fly - along with a great deal of shrapnel, an inevitable hazard when using fragmentation weapons in confined quarters. Fragments shred away Ehanis' shields, one making it through and cutting into the side of her arm. Nathan fares better, his specialized heavy armor designed to protect him from the firepower he wields. As the
dust clears the door has buckled and bent, weakened by the warp, the concussive force of the explosions have forced the door open, creating a jagged improvised opening. In the tunnel rapidly propelled pieces of door fly rapidly through the air, although the bend of the tunnel shields Nadia and Oxaris. Not so with the shockwave, which knocks Nadia to the ground, causing her to drop Li. The same is likely to happen to the turian, but
Halisi is quick to emerge now that the possessed Captain has been dealt with. She winces as she spots the injured woman being assisted by the marine. She makes a stop to administer an injection to her, to dull the pain and keep her concious, before moving on to Lucy, kneeling down next to her.
Ilyna sighs relieved once the coast is clear for now. "You should follow her," she says. "I'll be right there." She doesn't wait for confirmation or objection before she runs to jump over the ledge, slowing her fall with her biotics. Once down at the level below, she frantically looks around for anyone that would need help with their escape before her eyes settle on Halisi. "Thank the Goddess," she mutters before
At least 15 husks still remain swarming Jattic and Elena, as well as one abomination, which has not yet been able to force its way through the pack to attack close up. They surround the two on all sides, and many are pushing up behind Jattic not that Elena has fallen, while others have kneeled down to take part in finishing her off. Their howls fill the chamber as they continue to claw, bite and scramble. The Eclipse biotic wastes
no time in charging into the fray, sending one husk flying with a biotic punch before tearing the head off another with a maniacal laugh.
Halisi looks back over her shoulder at Ilyna, looking relieved to see that she's okay. "Check the others! Get everyone ready to move, we have to-"

The buzzing that has been sounding in the background for some time suddenly grows so much louder, and just a moment later, seekers start to stream in through the northern passage in the pod room, quickly starting to head right for anyone nearby.
Oxaris is thrown forwards by the shockwave, but she is quickly back on her feet thanks to her helmet shielding her from the distortion of the shockwave. However, she finds that her shields are all but depleted and that there are still three hostiles around the corner. She bites back against the ringing in her ears and turns, reaching down to grab Nadia and hoist her over one shoulder, then grabbing Li and tucking her
under her arm like a football. It really isn't the most dignified way for people to be carried, but that's a low priority at the moment. Oxaris wobbles through the improvised hole, not realising that she is currently bleeding profusely through parts of her armour where bullets have punched through. The pain-blocker is working a treat.
ColonistMother 's eyes widen in fear. "No... nononononono!" she starts backing away towards the tunnel, carrying her son.
AllianceMarine immediately tells the young colonist to run for it, raising his rifle and starting to open fire full auto at the seeker swarm while backpedaling. "Gogogo!"
Nathan raises his arm to shield himself from the explosion, but the shrapnel harmlessly pings off his armour. He stands and holsters Lil' Lucy, pulling out his predator and ready to push in when Oxaris suddenly stumbles out. He moves over and urges her on, leaning into the hole and firing up toward the tunnel for good measure. "We've got Oxaris, Li and one of the Jack's members! We've got everyone, so let's fuck right
Ehanis moves up a hand to instinctively shield her face when she realizes just how messy this plan is, and her shields are being whittled down. She groans when the last piece of shrapnel cuts at her arm. "Fuck, Ten," she says, sounding frustrated. "What kind of expert are you, again?" She stands back, waiting to catch her breath and her shields to return. She sighs relieved once she sees the turian slip through
Nathan blinks and looks at Ehanis, throwing her a rather colourful swear that her translator doesn't pick up. "Would you shut up for once with the barbs?!"
Oxaris barely has time to climb through the hole before another trio of Collectors descend from the ceiling tunnel. Two land, while the third continues to fly close to the roof of the chamber, but all three are opening fire with their assault rifles, each aiming at a different target.
Zaylus spots the doctor quickly returning to work, and breaks off toward the foreman. The intense buzzing becomes too great to ignore, just as seekers burst into the room. He grabs the man by the shoulder, shoving him toward the corridor. "Get the fuck out!" He screams, pointing hard and yelling at anyone still left on their feet. "If you aint leaving now you ain't leaving!" He turns
Makk scoops up Wrench in his left arm, wielding the spike thrower in his right. THe girl seems to have been frozen in fear. The two of them run for the tunnel.
Ilyna uses her biotics to lower Lucy's mass as she lifts her over her shoulder, finishing Halisi's interrupted sentence with, "Run!". With the captain over her shoulder, she starts sprinting down the hallway. She has left the SMG behind, there wasn't time to holster it.
Jason immediately ceases fire as the Eclipse merc plows into the remaining husks, ever the disciplined shooter. Ilyna's suggestion gets a brief nod from him. "Get those people moving!" he calls out to Ilyna as she makes her descent. It's only a momentary lull in the fight, but it's enough to allow it to settle in that, just maybe, they've got a fighting chance. Li is with Oxaris. Ilyna is still kicking. That's his family accounted
for. His team is still on their feet and raising hell. Take a deep breath. Now get moving, soldier. Revenant shouldered, he quickly takes the corridor with Leah, hopping right into the melee to tear a husk away from the pair by its shoulder, his powerful synthetic arm having no issue tossing the husk to the ground. As soon as it's down, he delivers a set of Revenant shots to it. Nathan's comment over comms serving as an
additional morale boost, he immediately moves on to the next husk. "Fucking off sounds pretty damn good right about now!"
Leah collects her Mattock and holsters it once the fighting has paused. Once Ilyna takes her leave, she rounds the tunnel alongside Jason, Carnifex at the ready
Jattic lashes out, using whatever he can to fight back the crowd mounting around the pair. A headbutt. An elbow. Sweeping movements to create space with the spiky outcroppings lining his pauldrons and gauntlets. When Elena goes down, he seems to abandon his fight in an attempt at ripping husks off of her. If she's pinned, she's dead. And he's well aware that he needs her if he's making it through this. Taking the time to help
her, however, leaves his back open and it's not long before a husk has scaled him like a ladder, undeterred by the many jagged armor pieces pressing into it. Its fingers dig into his neckline in an attempt at ripping free his helmet just as Jessica arrives.
Jessica's eye goes wide as she spots the horde of creatures scaling and pouring over Jattic and Elena. "Gah-... They are-.... they look like people!" she shouts through comms, her finger hovering over the trigger of her shotgun as uncertainty sets in.
Jason struggles to pull another husk down, giving a strained, grunted: "Yep!" in response to Jessica.
Jason plants a heavy boot against the husk he's been wrestling with, attempting to hold it in place. "Yep!" he manages before another burst of Revenant fire interrupts his message.
Jessica sights in on the husk's surrounding Jattic and Elena, letting off a burst that causes Jattic's shields to fizzle and glow, but does serve to take care of the husk on his back.
Leah gains a bright blue glow as she reaches the end of the tunnel, working in tandem with Jason to rip husks off of the surrounded pair and hold them in place for him to finish off. A freight train of biotic power, she shows no signs of stopping.
Oxaris looks to her right as the trio of Collectors appears from the ceiling. She slides behind the pillar and dispenses Li and Nadia there, barely even stopping as she runs around the corner. She draws her SMG in one fluid motion and fires a burst at one of the ground Drones, before her jets ignite and she's soaring right towards the airborne drone. There is no blade, only an open hand as she makes to grasp it on its
bug eyed face and bring it thundering down towards the ground in perhaps the most brutal slam one has witnessed. All the while, blood drips from her armour, blue mixing with yellowish ichor of the fallen Collectors from earlier.
The husks are being rapidly depleted by the combined, multi-directional assault, and soon enough just a handful are left. One of them jumps Jessica, her shotgun blasts having drawn its attention. It howls, ripping her weapon away and clawing at her hardsuit, its cybernetic face pressed up against her faceplate. Elena is just lying on the floor, shaking as she takes shallow breaths after the husks are peeled away from her. The
abomination is still alive as well, and it jumps the Eclipse biotic, knocking her over. Its implants are starting to glow brighter but she seems unaware of the danger, punching into its chest with an unconcerned laugh.
Ehanis snorts. "When you stop-...," she begins but is interrupted by the collectors arriving to ruin their almost success. She growls and lashes out at the Collector aiming at her with a quick (and less effective) warp field before following up with emptying her clip on him. Her shields has recharged enough to take the first bursts the Collector fires at her. Should she succeed, she'll sprint across to the
Nathan ducks as a barrage of fire comes from the Collectors. "Live first, arguing later! Get to th-" Before he can finish his sentence, he sees Ehanis run straight past Nadia and the unconscious Li and he has to take a moment to register what he just saw. "What the fuck, woman?!" He holsters his pistol and runs over to the pillar, sliding behind it to rifle for a weapon to pick. He settles on his newly acquired
grenrifle and leans around to aim at the other ground Drone. He holds the trigger, then releases a disc straight at the giant insect.
Ehanis' target goes down to her combination attack. The other ground drone takes a grenade to the chest, exploding from the inside out, but sending shrapnel all over. The last one is grabbed by Oxaris and slammed into the floor with a loud crunch, yet another wave of insectoid blood coating her armor. Unfortunately the Collectors in the tunnel have caught up. The Captain is at the lead, and a yellow beam aimed at Oxaris announces
its presence as it steps through the hole in the door, two drones following on each flank, starting to lay down fire on Nathan and the fleeing asari before she ducks into cover.
Oxaris crunches the Drone with her fist and turns just in time to see the beam slam straight into her chest. The Turian is ripped off her feet from the impact, her armour crumbling from the blast and she hits the ground hard, skidding to a stop and motionless.
Ilyna looks over at the fight going on in the chamber with a hopeless sigh. "Goddess," she mutters, realizing that they're not ready to leave. "We need to get out!" she shouts. "Insects behind us!" She has her hands full, so there's not much she can do to assist them; which means she continues to run towards the opposite door. Hopefully someone with comms can relay her warning, if they haven't already.
Ehanis hears Nathan's shout before she gets into cover, barely escaping by the time her shields are down. "Shit," she mutters as she glances towards the pillar. "Fuck, shit, what I am doing." She takes a few deep breaths as she watches the shield indicators go up, and when they're about a third through, she sprints back towards the pillar; trying to keep it between her and the trio for most of her sprint.
Nathan ducks his head down, the shots slamming into his shields and the pile of pods next to the pillar. "Shit! Oxaris is down! We need to move, now!" He charges another shot with the launcher and pops up, firing it off to the Captain in the middle as he looks at Ehanis. "Get Li! Run!" He then nudges Nadia with his foot, frustration settling in. "And you, up! Get up!"
Nadia manages to stumble to her feet, bruised and battered, but concious. She presses against the pillar, popping out to fire back at the drone shooting at them, but her shots are poorly aimed, her senses still scrambled.
Jattic's attention is jerked back as his shields flare up to protect him from the barrage of shotgun. As he spots Jessica, he finds himself surprised at his own relief at seeing the irritating woman. But he doesn't have time to focus on that, as Elena is still in danger. He extends a hand to her, eager to get her back on her feet. As his balled fist opens, the deep red gauntlet around it peels back.
Jessica racks her shotgun, trying to snap it to the approaching husk but she's too slow. As her shotgun is knocked aside, she goes straight for the throat with an open gauntlet, eyes wide in terror at the horrible creature before it. As she's pressed back against the wall, she finds herself losing focus as her gaze scans over the hollow monstrosities face. Is this the result of the 'sickness' they were talking about? The sound of
the salarian in her ear pulls her right back. They need to get moving and she's sure as shit not going to be the one left behind. With a loud grunt, she presses her shoulder pauldron into the wall behind her, attempting to rotate and switch places with the attacking creature. If successful, she raises her leg, grasping for the large, serrated blade attached to her boot before attempting to thrust it right into the husk's
Leah gives a brief look about the room as the enemy numbers dwindle. Spotting the Eclipse merc's predicament, she's quick to tear the glowing creature away, a gesture of her hand all it takes for the powerful biotic to fling the abomination towards the ceiling.
Jason is quick to fall in line, shouldering his heavy machine gun. His visor quickly gets to work, assisting with aim and trajectory before he fires a stream of metallic shards towards the abomination-skeet. "Just keep moving!" he calls out as he hears Ilyna. "Lead on, we'll follow!"
The chakram strikes the Captain's barrier, exploding immediately and draining much of them, causing the creature to stagger back, but it raises its weapon, firing off a shot that cuts right through the edge of the pillar, catching Nadia in her shoulder. She collapses with a loud cry as part of her shoulder is scorched away. The drones continue their suppressive fire on both sides of the pillar as the Captain flies to the side,
Oxaris slowly sits up, her HUD blaring warnings as the front part of her armour has simply melted away. 'Stimulant Pack administered. WARNING.' Damned be the warnings. She has a job to do. The wounded Turian, jumped up on critical amounts of pain-blockers and stimulants, takes to the air as the Captain flies her way and her omni-blades spring out. She slices both of them out at the Captain, aiming to separate the foe in
two, landing just shy of the others. She would, if successful, land next to his fallen weapon, pick it up and fire he particle beam at the other pair of Collectors.
The abomination explodes harmlessly against the ceiling. Jessica's wrestling proves successful, and the creature's attack stops as the knife burrows into its face. The Alliance marine dispatches the last two husks with his Valkyrie rifle, moving toward the corridor across along with the rescued civilians. Halisi lingers, looking to the others. "The swarm is coming! Can everyone move?!" she calls out. Elena clambers to her feet with
Jattic's help, still seeming rattled, although it's hard to tell under her helmet. Blood has soaked her right pantleg. "Fu-.. fuck... am I... did they get me?!" she calls out in a panic as she notices her leg.
HMECForeman stops to fire at the seekers that are rapidly approaching behind the fleeing group. His shots do little to keep them back, but his backpedaling causes him to stumble, and the swarm is quick to engulf him right in front of Zaylus.
Ehanis crouches down and picks Li up. "It's me, Hannis," she mutters to her, in case she's concious. "We're going home." She waits for her shields to be half full before the flanking attack comes, and makes up some of the difference with a personal barrier. She takes a deep breath. "Keep them busy," she shouts. "I'll be back!" She begins her run to the door with Li in her arms, as fast as her legs can carry her.
Nathan throws himself onto the ground, ducking underneath the barrage of gunfire for a moment before he then stands up again, a charged 'nade flying towards one of the drones. "Just go! Get the kid out, that's the priority!" After he fires the shot, he stows the launcher and moves over to Nadia, taking out his pistol and quickly applying some medi-gel to her shoulder. "Okay, you can still walk! I'll cover you, follow
her! Will to survive, will to survive!" Strong words of encouragement there. He then turns and fires off his pistol at the drones, if they survived.
Zaylus keeps on hustling backwards with the SMG pointed up at the swarm, taking constant shots at the advancing bugs. "Shit!" He snarls as the foreman goes down, but before he can even think to help the swarm has already taken him over. He just picks up the pace, occasionally glancing backwards to make sure he knows where he's going.
Ilyna does just that, and she enters the hallway in time to see Ehanis running through the crossfire with Li in her arms. Seeing the rest of her little family accounted for brings her some hope that was sorely needed. "Thank the Goddess," she mutters. "Over here!" she shouts to Ehanis before reaching the intersection where she holds up a barrier. She had to let go of the field around the woman on her shoulders,
Jason sweeps his Revenant about the room as the action dies down, giving a brief: "Clear!" as he waits for those in the know to take the lead. The rapidly increasing buzzing and Halisi's mention of 'swarm' makes him well aware that they're acting on borrowed time. "If anyone has any genius plan for slowing those bugs down that they've just been sititng on, now would be a really good fucking time to act on it!" he calls out as he
Leah's blue glow remains, following up with a: "Clear!" of her own, Carnifex in-hand. She lingers towards the back of the group. "I can push them around, but that's only going to keep them back for so long!" she says.
Jessica doesn't seem particularly convinced that the creature is dead, plunging her blade into its face a second time. Then a third. It's not until she hears Jason and Leah that she pulls her newly-aquired blade free- allowing the husk to slump to the ground- and begins to backpedal away from the creature with a few deep, adreneline-fueled breaths. Jason's mention of a plan causes her free hand to search along her belt. "I-..." she
begins before nodding confidently. "Mmm! Big-fucking-boom!" she responds, pulling free one of the home-made charges from her belt. "I will set it here and then-... uhh.... we run and-.... and bam!" she says, slipping the blade back to her boot as she moves to the doorway everyone is now funneling through and rapidly begins to deploy her charge.
Jattic's breathing is deep and uneven. As he continues to suck in air, his gaze moves to Elena's bloodstained pantleg. He studies it for a moment before his gaze lifts to meet hers. Truthfully, they know very little about how the disease-... virus-... sickness is transmitted. Maybe she is infected. Maybe she's dangerous. But despite all of his previous concerns over allowing infected back on the ship, Elena stood beside him in
The Captain takes deep omni-blade cuts, collapsing onto the ground and dropping its particle beam cannon. Oxaris would find the beam cutting right through the remaining drones, but not before several fly EHanis' way. Unfortunately, behind her, the not-quite-dead Captain is pulled into the air, lighting up with a yellow glow. "YOU WILL KNOW PAIN." It grasps Oxaris' helmet, effortlessly tossing her across the room before launching a
biotic blast towards Nathan before enveloping Nadia in another biotic field, pulling her in close to itself with a gesture of its hand.
Oxaris is throw clear across the room, crashing into the wall with a grunt. She feels the world blurring around her, phantoms crossing her vision. Black, smokey shapes that stand around her, vaguely turian in shape. She coughs, blood dribbling from her mouth. Thump. Thump. Thump. A resounding drumbeat in her head, the world around her started to darken. "Is this it...?" She murmurs at the shapes. One slowly reaches
down, hand open as it touches her helmet. A hallucination... yet so vivid. 'Stimulant Administered. Danger. Danger. Stimulants exhausted.' So be it. Not yet. One last push. One last surge. She stands, the figures around her taking slow steps back, yet seemingly waiting. Hallucinations... vivid. Her omni-blades spark to life and she jets forwards, varying her movement before she brings her blade around to cut at
the arm extended towards Nadia. She would then vanish, her cloak wrapping her in its embrace as she relocates, then jets in for another strike, blades springing back. Hit and run. Hit and run.
Lucy stirs and awakens, slipping out of Ilyna's grasp and wobbling as she struggles to stand up. "What-... where are we going?" she asks, looking around in disorientation. Those that still live among the rescued civilians soon join the two of them in the crossing. Halisi is backpedaling towards the doorway, freezing several seekers as they approach, swarming out of both the western and northern tunnels now. The eclipse biotic gets
up after the defeat of the abomination, taking only a moment to take in the situation before starting to gather biotic energy. "GET BACK IF YOU WANNA LIVE!" she shouts. Elena nods in response to Jattic, seeming to find her focus, at least for now. "Let's go!" she calls out, limping towards the tunnel while detatching a flashbang from her armor, keeping it in her hand as she recalls Nathan's actions on the Good Things Come. Alliance
Marine is backpedaling while firing into the swarm, which is going to overwhelm them at any moment, not wishing to leave Redrock's combatants behind. He detaches a fragmentation grenade, hurling it as deep into the thick cloud of insects as he can manage.
Nathan whoops in victory as Oxaris tears through the Collectors, turning to give her an approving thumbs up... then watching a blast slam straight into his face. He hits the floor, dazed for the moment as he watches Nadia get hoisted into the air. "Uh, require assistance," he mutters over comms, pushing himself to a standing position. He then staggers forwards, firing at the possessed Captain, careful to avoid Oxaris
Ehanis makes it out of the chamber mostly unscatched since the turian's heroics cut their suppression fire short. She enters Ilyna's bubble with little resistence carefully sets Li down right next to her. The kid was priority, but now she was in relative safety. Ehanis slips out of the barrier's influence and gets into cover.
Ilyna raises her brows at seeing Ehanis leave, but she doesn't waste energy keeping her inside the barrier. "Where are you going?"
Ehanis leans out of cover. "I'm not done yet," she says before storming back into the room. She prepares a warp field and with a loud grunt, she fires it off at the glowing Collector once it comes into view. She then rushes to Nathan's side to drag him to his feet.
Zaylus backpedals in time with the alliance marine, ignoring everything other than what little he can do to chip away at the advancing swarm.
Ilyna looks over at Lucy once she gets to her feet. "We're extracting," she says. "I don't know the way out, so we're waiting for someone who does." Her attention then shifts to Li who's sat down by her legs, frowning at the state she's in. She wants nothing more than to drop the barrier and pick her up, but she can't. Not until the others are here.
Jessica's gaze shifts between her omni-tool interface and the swarm entering the opposite end of the chamber, scrambling to finish planting the charge she has attached against the chamber wall right beside the door. "Okay! Is done!" she calls out, attention towards the seekers as she begins to back up into the hall, Falcon unfolding as she pulls it from her back. "Get back! Now! I will blow it when we are all out of the room!"
Jason swings around, holding the hallway door. His HUD is overwhelmed as the horde of threats are pointed out, giving him a target-rich field. There's little point in aiming. He just makes sure to stay high enough to avoid friendly fire as the others funnel into the hall. "Move! Come on!"
Leah remains on the other side of the doorway, opposite of Jason. Nathan's clearly-disoriented voice over comms causes a pang of panic to shoot through her. "Nate! To the ship! Now!" she says, more of an order than a suggestion, "Don't make me come carry you!" Her biotics flare with an intense blue as she sweeps her left hand from right-to-left, as if swiping at the air, as she attempts to push what she can of the swarm back
Jattic gives a stern nod, moving to help support Elena's weight and assist her through the Jason-Leah bottleneck. He's ready to drag her if need be, but thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case.
Nadia drops to the floor as the possessed Collector has its arm severed, its focus interrupted. "PAIN IS IRRELEVANT." A shockwave shoots out in every direction. Nadia is tossed, rolling across the floor and coming to a stop, motionless. In the aftermath of the

floor and coming to a stop, motionless. In the aftermath of the omni-directional shockwave the Captain lifts Nathan into the air, starting to pull him in now.
Nathan suddenly finds himself suspended and panic sets in, being pulled towards the very ugly looking Captain. "Shitshitshitshit!" He dangles in the air, firing at the Captain wildly with his predator until it clicks empty. "Help!" That is the only thought floating (Huueeee) in his mind right now. He struggles for something, anything on his belt, but his fingers fumble.
Zaylus backs through the doorway after Jattic and Elena, not ready to turn and run yet but definitely not eager to be put at the mercy of Jessica's booms.
Ehanis pulls out and reloads her pistol, moving around the pillar to take shots at the collector captain. "Why won't you fucking die!" she shouts. Realizing the pistol probably isn't doing much, she sends off a throw field at the glowing bug in hopes of disrupting whatever he's got going on with Nathan.
Ilyna doesn't need more encouragement to drop her barrier, which she lets gracefully fizzle out this time. She immediately reaches down to pick up Li, looking her over and checking if she's still breathing. "Li?" she asks. She takes a few steps towards the room where she woke up to not be in the way of the others filing into the hallway.
Lucy finally seems to have gotten her bearings somewhat. "We need to get back to the Jack!" she calls out, looking around. Halisi has joined the civilians inside Ilyna's barrier, and she heads right for Li upon spotting her, kneeling next to her and looking her over. She lets out a relieved sigh that she's still breathing, scooping her up and leaning the unconcious girl against her shoulder since Ilyna seems to be busy with her
barrier. She has no clue where to go. As the last of Redrock as well as the Alliance Marine backs up to the doorway, the Eclipse biotic floats into the air discharging her gathered biotic energy in a powerful, 180-degree shockwave that pushes back the approaching swarm, bying a measure of time. Many of those already swept aside by Leah are killed outright by the powerful forces at work. She falls to her knees after expending the
gathered energy, struggling back to her feet and turning to run, stumbling several times as she tries to catch up with the others, but the seekers are rapidly closing in on her after recovering from the shockwave. Makk takes the lead in the crossing meanwhile, one of the few people aware of the way back to the ship. "This way! Come on!" he says, starting to stomp down the corridor at a quick pace. Wrench is following closely

at it to sweep the legs from under it, hopefully bringing it to the floor. Using the momentum of her attack, she spins, her blade coming down straight into its face and through into the ground. "Stop talking," she hisses.

Jason reaches out, giving the Eclipse merc a motivational shove into the hallway, "Come on, you psychopath!" he calls out before he, too, swings in. He gets a few final shots on the swarm as he backpedals down the hall. "Ilyna! Barrier, now! This side!"
Leah holds her position until after the Eclipse biotic is safely inside of the hall. She gives one final sweeping burst of energy to push the swarm back as she pulls into the hallway. As soon as she crosses the doorway, she hooks an arm under the stumbling merc's armpit and rushes forward, eager to get clear of what's sure to be a big boom. "Blow it!"
The possessed avatar collapses in on itself from the barrage of attacks, Nathan dropping to the floor without warning and the final cleave causing it to outright crumble to pieces, an unstable biotic reaction obliterating what's left of the body, and knocking Oxaris back. Once again its voice lingers in their heads even after destruction, the overwhelming presence far from gone. "WE DO NOT DIE." Any sense of relief is short lived.
Oxaris hits the ground and rolls over, skidding to a stop. The turian groans weakly, clutching her side as she looks through her cracked visor at the figure surrounding her. One of them kneels before her, distorted, and slowly reaches over to her. "...I'm hit," she croaks into comms, barely a whisper and likely unheard. No more stims. No more blocking the pain. This is it.
Ilyna looks over to Halisi, offering a small smile as the girl is rested against her shoulder. "Go with the krogan," she says. "I'll be-..." she glances at Jason upon hearing his order. "...right behind you." She lets her barrier fizzle out around her and runs up past Jason. She takes a deep breath, and a wall of biotics form before her to block the hallway.
Nathan lands flat on his arse, groaning as he stands and places a hand on his rear. "Oooow... ah, dammit, we've got two wounded in here! Someone give me a hand." He staggers over to Nadia and reaches down, making to pick her up and throw her over his shoulder. It would be very uncomfortable for the pair of them, but that's a fleeting thought. Survive now, bitch about aches and cramps later.
Ehanis smirks as he finally dies, muttering "yes you do" at his last words. The sounds of movement above cuts her break short, however. "There's more of them coming," she says into comms. "Above." She can't worry about them, not yet, and she rushes over to the one that's not getting help right now: the turian. She coats her in a mass lowering field, and tries to lift her with one arm under the legs and another
holding whatever handhold she can find on her armor near her back. "Some help over here?" she asks over comms as she starts walking, almost stumbling with every step. "This one is heavy."
Jessica holds her freshly aquired Falcon loosely, her forearm projecting her omni-tool display. Her gaze remains on the door in front of her as people shift about. "Fucking-... bugs. I hate bugs. Creepy-... baby-eating... Collectors..." she mutters through gritted teeth. "I always know they were real!" she brags amidst the chaos. "My mother say-..." she begins, but is cut off by Leah's order, responding with a quick: "...Oh!"
as Ilyna's barrier shoots up to block off the hallway. Her thumb slides across the interface and she gives a loud, enthusiastic shout of: "BAM!" but the single-syllable word is sure to be chopped off by the thundering explosion that's to come.
Leah releases her grip on the Eclipse merc as soon as they're far enough in to be clear of Ilyna's biotics and immediately moves through the others. "Where's Nate?!" she calls out as she spots Halisi, gaze darting about for any sign of him. As her IFF tags pick him, Ehanis and Oxaris up just beyond the next chamber, she doesn't bother waiting for a response from Halisi before breaking into a full-on sprint in their direction.
Zaylus continues to back up, not willing give Jessica any benefit of the doubt when it comes to her explosives. He listens in on the comms and to Leah's focused attention on the second group, and as she takes off for them he turns to trail close behind.
The Eclipse biotic stumbles into safety. As she realizes what's about to happen she lets out a cry of effort, channeling whatever strength she has left into boosting Ilyna's barrier. Defensive techniques is hardly her speciality, but with the sheer amount of Minagen in her system she maanges to partly overcome this with raw power. The explosion fills the tunnel with fire and chaos, shaking the entire intersection and causing chunks
of ceileing to fall. The proximity of the bomb and the channeling of the explosion through the confined space of the tunnel means that it has enough power to completely knock out Ilyna's barrier even with the additional boost. Most of its energy has been expended, but those closest are still sent flying as thick dust fills the tunnel crossing, completely obscuring vision for a time. The civilians have luckily rounded the corner,
following in a cluster after Makk and Wrench. As the dust starts to clear it can be seen that chunks of the strange building material used by the Collectors have been dislodged from the ceiling, blocking most of the tunnel. Sparks fly from damaged wires above, and yellow liquid leaks from a cracked pipe that was hidden in the southern wall. Niklos is hurrying after Leah and Zaylus in search of his sister. Halisi meanwhile is
coughing as she struggles to breath amid the dust, still holding Li close. "Le-... hugh... kuh... we must-..." In the empty pod room, a powerful biotic blast suddenly knocks the half-exploded door to the east wide open, a scion lumbering in the tunnel beyond. It lets out a deep growl as husks start to swarm past it. From above, Collector drones descend, three, with more beyond.
Nathan takes one look over his shoulder. "Nope." He starts to take off a a lumbering run with Nadia over his shoulder, waving at Ehanis to hustle. "We have a shit tonne of company!" He makes it to the corridor with the others, immediately passing off Nadia to Nilkos. "Here you go!" He would then turn and pulls off Lil' Lucy, cycling her to flashbangs and aiming at the Scion. Thunk. A 'nade soars across to slam into it
Ilyna gives the barrier everything she's got, but it's not enough to contain it all. She's knocked off her feet, and lands on her back. She's still concious, however, so she rolls and scrambles to get to her feet. Her caughing is making it difficult to catch her breath, and she leans against the wall hoping for the dust to settle. The explosion has temporarily damaged her hearing, so she fails to notice the
Nathan takes one look over his shoulder. "Nope." He starts to take off a a lumbering run with Nadia over his shoulder, waving at Ehanis to hustle. "We have a shit tonne of company!" He greets the others by immediately dumping Nadia to the other Jack member, right at the entrance to the room. "Here you go!" He then turns and takes off his own 'nade launcher and cycles it to flashbangs. "Look away! Flashes going out!" He
then fires the two flashbangs he has at teh hoard, one at the Scion and the other right before the husks.
Ehanis is hustling as fast as she can, but there's no way she'll make it out with Oxaris unless someone comes to help her out. "Fuck, fuck, fuck," she mutters as Collectors and husks starts pouring into the room.
Jessica is knocked flat on her ass by the blast as Ilyna's barrier proves to be little match for the impressive booms. It knocks the wind out of her, causing a stream of coughs as she rolls onto her side, clutching at her stomach. But... man, what a boom! "Fuck! Yes!" she roars between coughs. "Gaaaaah!" she groans, slapping one gauntlet against the ground as she pushes herself up, blinking hard a few times. Her other gauntlet
Jattic stops assisting Elena once the two of them have made it around the corner and braces for the explosion. As soon as it has passed, he's quick to come back around, moving to help Jessica to her feet. "We must keep moving!" he barks as he slaps the grenade launcher back into the mercenary's hands. He turns back, looking as though he's about to stomp off once more before glancing back at Jessica. "...And.... Thank you." he
Jessica continues to blink as she opens and closes her jaw wide in an attempt to stop the ringing. "Mmmm?" she hums in response to the batarian, giving her helmet a couple more taps with the palm of her hand. "Keep it in your pants, four-eyes. I just miss." she mutters, "I was aiming for your fat head."
Jattic gives a grunt. "Of course." he grumbles before continuing back around the corner, perfectly fine with leaving things at that.
Leah breathes a sigh of relief as Nathan comes into view, gaze locked on him as she assists in transferring Nadia to Niklos. But the hostiles close behind and Ehanis' predicament make it a short lived reunion. "Go!" she says, the telltale blue glow once more enveloping her. "I'll be right behind you!" And with that, she once again storms off towards Ehanis.
Oxaris gasps and looks at Ehanis weakly. "G-go... just go... leave me... I'll cover you." She is clearly in no state to cover anyone, even as she tries to push Ehanis off her.
Zaylus does his best to keep up with Leah, running her tail but falling just a little behind. He catches up as she stops to help Nadia, and he bounds over with the intention of lifting some of the burden off Ehanis while the others tackle the horde.
Jason braces against the wall before the explosion goes off, but it still manages to put him on his ass. The biotic is left coughing on the floor, struggling to get back on her feet only to fall back against the floor, all the wind knocked out of her by the blast. Elena is leaned against the wall just around the corner, biting down under her helmet as she tries to push the pain out of her head. Oxaris. The Collector drones are flying past, going to engage the group in the tunnel directly while they're disoriented from the blast. Assault rifle fire flies against those still not in the southern tunnel as the drones land in the doorway, three in number for now, but more are emerging from the ceiling tunnel. Unlike the other two, the middle drone doesn't even attack. As soon as it lands, it is ripped into the air, its body
crackling with the yellow glow of power as that same voice booms, audible to everyone. Coming from everywhere and nowhere. "WE ARE THE HARBINGER OF YOUR ASCENDANCE!" It immediately sends a shockwave of biotic energy down the corridor, following up by enveloping Jessica in a biotic field and pulling her in with an almost whiplash-inducing rapidity.

Nathan cycles Lil' Lucy to frags, ready to thump a few into the Scion when he looks up to see a Collector come crashing into him. He loses his grip, Lucy skidding into the hallway where the others are. "Sonofa-" He reacts quickly, his knife slipping free of his gauntlet and he goes to slam it into the eye of the bug, wrapping his legs around it and trying to roll over and pin it beneath him whilst slapping the barrel
Ilyna is still coughing, but she manages to get to her feet with Jason's help. "Ehanis!" she shouts when she sees what's going on in the pod room.
Ehanis is easily toppled by the scion's biotics, and she drops the turian in the process. "Fuck!" she shouts. "Is there no end to these assholes?!" She casts a panicked glance towards the advancing horde before she tries to scramble to her feet. There's no way Ehanis is making it out of there carrying anyone, so she hurries over to help Zaylus up to his feet instead.
Leah's forward momentum is quickly turned to backwards momentum as she's caught, mid-sprint, and sent sailing backwards before sliding to a stop on her back. In her Minagen-fueled state, however, she's not down for the count for long. With a flash of biotic energy she slaps both fists against the ground, causing her to upright herself in one fluid motion, as if she just fell backwards in reverse. She springs into action, pushing
back the fatigue rapidly setting in. Carnifex raised, she weaves in front of Ehanis. As a slight glow surrounds Oxaris, Leah grabs the neckguard of her turian armor and begins shuffling back, firing off shots at the front line of attackers as she attempts to drag Oxaris with them.
Jessica has barely had time to catch her breath when more hostiles are swooping in and-... "Gah!" she cries out as the ground beneath her drops away and she finds herself being jerked violently down the corridor, frantically wrestling for control of her Falcon.
Jason raggedly spins back towards the opposite end of the tunnel once he and Ilyna are back on their feet. "This motherfucker again?! The fuck does that even mean?!" he shouts, jerking the stock of his Revenant against his shoulder. Unfortunately, given the other friendlies in the tunnel, he's unable to even get a shot off before he's thrown into the wall harshly.
Jattic is already beginning to assist Elena down the hall when more combat erupts from the hallway behind him. And that voice. 'Feeble minded'. It's enough to give him a second wind. With a sneer, he gives Elena a shove. "Go! Get to the others!" he instructs before swiveling back around.
Oxaris tumbles to the ground, leaving a small pool of blood beneath her as she groans feebly. The thundering in her head quickens and she struggles to stay awake, her eyes feeling heavy. "Go...", she breathes as Leah suddenly grabs her neckguard. A small smear of blood is left trailing behind her, blue and yellow as it mixes with the juices of the fallen Collectors on her armour. The figures surround her, walking in
tandem as they watch impassively. "...why aren't... you taking me yet?" She asks them, but there is no reply. Just silence.
Zaylus tumbles hard before he can reach out to the pair, covering his head as he slides across the floor. "Nope." He growls in response to the asari, just getting his bearings as she helps him to his feet.
Thanks will have to wait as he turns to see the horde, his hand reflexively snapping to his Carnifex. Glancing over to see that Oxaris has not been forgotten, he sidesteps with Leah as he fires on the husks.
Ilyna is also thrown into the wall, involuntarily letting go of Jason and falling the floor again. She doesn't get up before trying to biotically grab the drone not attacking Nathan and smack him into the 'Harbiger'. She is tired, angry, worried, and it's all because of that squad of collectors here to stop their escape.
Halisi ducks around the corner, holding Li close as the shockwave hits. Nathan's manuever to take out the drone attacking him proves successful. It's dead Nathan. Nathan, it's dead! You can stop!
