It's about 9:30PM when Halisi arrives outside Ilyna's apartment, dressed in her usual winter garb. The walk has no doubt been a cold one regardless, judging by the harsh winds and heavy snowfall that has continued ceaselessly since twilight. There'll be a lot of paths to clear after the weather eases up. There's talk of a potential snowstorm blowing in over the town. She knocks on the door with a glove-clad hand, her puffy knit

winter hat covered in snow to the point where it's more white than purple.

Ilyna is sat at the dining table when Halisi arrives, occasionally tapping away at the terminal. The asari looks visibly tired, and she's making slow progress on the document she's writing. The knocks on the door are easily heard in the quiet apartment, and it causes Ilyna to immediately shut the screen and get up. She makes her way over to the door, and opens it. "Hey," she says with a faint smile, her voice almost

a whisper, and steps aside to let her in. The asari is wearing her usual kind of casual dress.

Halisi offers a smile in return, coupled with a small wave. "Mind if I come in?" she calls out, a bit louder than normal in order to be heard over the gust of wind that picks up. It also prompts her to wrap her arms around herself, shielding her hands in her armpits.

Ilyna chuckles. "Of course," she says. "It would be cruel of me to invite you otherwise." She shivers as a gust hits her, and grabs her own arm with her right hand.

Halisi is quick to step across the treshold, visibly relaxing once the door closes behind her. "I know I'm a little late, the snow..." she trails off, figuring the explanation sufficent. She opens and closes her hands a few times to restore bloodflow before removing her leather gloves, then slipping her purse of her shoulder and placing it against the wall before unbuttoning her coat.

Ilyna takes a step further in once the door closes, still facing Halisi. "Did you walk all the way here in this weather?" she asks. "Goddess.... I could have have asked Jasper to pick you up had I known."

Halisi lets out a chuckle, a slight shiver to her voice. "I-It's fine. Minor miscalculation on my part. It's... bracing." she says as she slips out of her coat, hanging it on a hook. Underneath she's wearing a nice, but comfortable-looking grey sweater. She rubs her hands together before leaning down to unzip her boots and take them off.

Ilyna catches herself glancing down once Halisi slips out of her winter coat. "I've heard it's going to get worse," she says with a frown, before walking over to the kitchen. "Is there anything I could get you? Coffee?"

Halisi joins Ilyna in the kitchen after getting rid of her winterwear, nodding. "Yes, thank you. A coffee sounds perfect right about now." she's quick to reply, offering an appreciative smile before letting her gaze wander around the apartment briefly, eventually returning to Ilyna and watching her prepare the coffee.

The apartment is quiet. The TV is shut off, the curtains are drawn on the window, and the ceiling light are dimmed. The strongest light in the room is the lamp over the stove top.

Ilyna starts the water boiler with barely enough for one cup, and reaches into the drawer for a glass of instant coffee. It's almost full, as she hasn't touched it since Vasquez' visit. "I don't drink coffee... or anything warm," she says. "I suppose I should though, now that I live in a place with such a cold climate."

Halisi raises an eyebrow at this unknown quirk, seeming a little amused. "No coffee? How do you get through your days?" she asks in a lighthearted tone, remaining nearby as Ilyna handles the coffee, not wanting to interfere, but not wanting to leave her alone either.

Ilyna puts one and a half teaspoon of the power in an empty cup. "A good night's rest," she says before a yawn escapes. "Well, it doesn't always work." She pours the boiling water into the cup, stirrs a few times with the spoon and carefully extends it to her.

Halisi chuckles as Ilyna's comment and accepts the cup with a quiet "Thank you.", cradling the hot coffee in her hands as she waits for Ilyna to take the lead on whether they're sitting in the couch or by the kitchen table.

Ilyna turns off the water boiler. "You're welcome," she walks around her and over to sit down on the couch. "How has your day been? Did you have a lot to catch up on after taking yesterday off?"

Halisi joins Ilyna in the couch, shaking her head slightly. "No, I made sure my schedule was clear for the days surrounding the wedding, just in case. I imagine I'll be quite busy next week. Dr. T'Ala is not so good with the paperwork." she says with a small chuckle, bringing the cup up to her nose and taking in the aroma of the coffee with a smile, even cheap instant coffee is a pleasure after an evening walk through biting

winds and snow. She takes a small sip and glances over at Ilyna. "What about you? How... how has your day been...?" she asks, sticking to the simple, polite questions for now.

Ilyna sighs. "Slow," she says. "I'm sure they'd do just as fine without my help with the paperwork, but... I can't have them smuggling Ehanis off-world again." She forces a chuckle.

Halisi lets out a quiet hum, offering a sympathetic look and a faint nod. "I understand you will be keeping an eye on things while Jason and Linda take some time off to celebrate." she comments, studying Ilyna with a small smile as she continues to warm her hands against the coffee cup.

Ilyna raises her brows, looking a bit unsure. "I... suppose?" she says. "Vasquez didn't seem interested the last time I offered."

Halisi raises an eyebrow. "Oh. I... assumed one of them had spoken with you. Perhaps I misunderstood the solidity of those plans. Seemed like Linda had been convinced when I spoke to her today." she adds with a small snicker, glancing Ilyna's way before taking a sip of her coffee.

Ilyna tilts her head. "I've... been left alone in my office all day," she says. "Not even Atana has tried to drag me out for lunch or shopping." She then shrugs and looks away. "I'll... talk with Jason tomorrow."

Halisi smirks slightly. "I didn't realize. I would have come by to bother you for a bit if I'd known." she jokes, her smirk soon as she goes quiet, however, gaze turning to the table in front of them as she sips her coffee, a thoughtful look crossing her face. She gains a slightly uncomfortable expression as she resolves to cut the small-talk short. "I... I think we should talk. About... yesterday. At the wedding." she says,

looking over at Ilyna again, a slightly concerned frown on her face as she studies her reaction.

Ilyna chuckles at first, but a frown shows up as soon as the conversation takes the expected turn. She keeps staring down at the table, however; guilt written all over her face. "It... has given me a lot to think about," she says, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm sorry, Halisi."
