Victoria finding out about Va'ynna's disappearance (Skipping Work)

It's been thirty minutes since Va'ynna left for work this morning when Victoria's omni-tool rings. Caller: Aylena. It's quite dark outside due to the cloudy weather and falling flaky slow. Uvena is not home either, having left just five minutes ago to meet with someone with about renting an apartment.

Victoria was making herself a quick bite to eat, wearing her typical clothing. She stops what she is doing and answers the omni-tool "Hey Aylena, why are you calling?"

Aylena responds immediately. "Hello, Ms. Steels," she says. "Is Atana still at home? She's not responding to my calls."

"No... she left about thirty minutes ago." Vicky was caught off by this, it was unlike Va'ynna to be late. "Has she not turned up yet?"

I wouldn't be asking if she had.

Aylena sighs. "Could you try calling her?"

"Yeah, I shall try and get a hold of her. If I get a hold of her I will tell her to call you." She hangs up after Aylena and herself both said their goodbyes.

Keep me updated.

"Will do." She ends the calls and begins to call Va'ynna.

The call connects, but it eventually times out without being picked up.

Victoria tries calling Va'ynna again to see if it is met with the same results.

She is indeed met with the same results.

Victoria is starting to get worried, she then tries to call Uvena. Wanting to see if she could possibly know anything about Va'ynna's whereabouts.

Uvena does answer, unlike her daughter. "Victoria," she says in a lowered voice. "Could you call me back in a moment? I might actually have a chance at getting an apartment this time."

"Sorry, but this might be an emergency. Aylena just called me to say Va'ynna has not turned up for work. She is also not answering mine or Aylena's calls." She stops and she felt bad that she was interrupting Uvena's business.

Uvena | "What?!" she says. "Shit..., well, I'll wrap this up and go see if anyone at Redrock has seen her. Call me as soon as possible if you find her, okay?"

"Alright. I will go out looking for her now. I'll call you when I find her." She ends the calls and rushes to the bedroom to get her predator and her jacket. She makes her way out of the apartment.

The hallway and lobby are both empty, and the front door is still locked only allowing tenants and those they've shared their key with to get in.

Victoria uses her key to exit the apartment and locks it behind herself. She then begins to walk the way Va'ynna takes to work.

Retracing Va'ynna's usual path to the Miner's Respite appears fruitless at first. When Victoria is halfway there, which is outside a small conveninece store, she steps on some plastic that cracks under her foot. It was previously obscured by the patchy layer of snow that has gathered on the ground. It's a quiet early morning, and the weather doesn't exactly help long-distance visibility.

Victoria begins to see if there is anyone wandering the streets on her way. She was beginning to worry even more that something bad might have happened to her.

A tired-looking asari passes her, with a hooded jacket slung over her light armor. She's of dark blue skin which is a tad brighter around her face, and blue markings. She enters the grocery store upon reaching it unless stopped, not paying Victoria any mind.

"Excuse me." She said to the asari and made her way over to her, hoping the asari stopped.

She stops and turns towards her. "What do you want?" she asks, sounding more than a little annoyed.

"Sorry to annoy you, but have you happened to see a tall, purple skinned asari." She tried to make it quick so she did not take up much of the asari's time.

The asari tilts her head and holds up her hand to about six feet above ground. "About this tall, and working at an establishment called the Miner's Respite?"

Victoria nods "Yeah, that is her. She has yet to turn up for work and her boss called me. Have you seen her?"

"Is that why breakfast is late?" she says, frowning. "No, sorry, I haven't seen her since last night."

Victoria frowns "Would it be too much to ask for you to keep an eye out?" She pauses for a moment "If you do see her, tell the Respite's owner. Probably easier than finding me."

She shrugs. "If I see her, yeah, of course," she says, soudning dismissive, "but I'm not going out of my way to search for her in this weather for free." She takes a step towards the store. "Now if you'd excuse me...." She enters the store without awaiting a response.

Victoria nods at the asari "Thanks." She then starts walking back towards the Respite, keeping an eye out for anything that is out of place.

Victoria does not meet a single soul for the remainder of the way, and she eventually reaches the Respite. From looking into the front door, she'll find the Respite relatively empty, which is not out of the ordinary for this early hour. Aylena seems to spot Victoria and looks at her once she appears outside the front door.

Victoria frowns and pokes her head into the Respite quickly "She has not turned up yet?" She ask to Aylena.

Aylena steps out from the bar and crosses the room. "No, she hasn't," she says, speaking a lowered voice as the nearly empty quiet room carries sound very well. "I was hoping you'd find her."

Victoria shakes her head "No, I have not seen her or any trace of her yet. I will go back over the path she normally takes, to see if there is anything odd."

Aylena tilts her head. "Which one did you take to come here?" she asks.

"I took her typical route. Unless she changes it everyday." She tells Aylena and the look of worry was clear on her face.

Aylena nods. "I doubt it, but I don't really pay attention to where she's coming from every morning," she says. "I'll notify you if she shows up." Aylena doesn't show any sign of worry herself, but then again, she is not usually very expressive.

Victoria begins to the path back to the apartment and trying her best to keep an eye out for anything that seems out of place or anything that links to Va'ynna.

She meets the young asari from earlier again when she's a quarter of the way home. She's headed towards the Respite carrying a plastic bag. Other than that, the pavement and road is as quiet as when she walked to the Respite.

Victoria frowns when she makes it back to the apartment and still no trace of Va'ynna. "God dammit. There is absolutely no way I can do this by myself."

The door to the empty lobby is still locked. Victoria will most likely be aware that the property owner won't be around for another 1.5-2 hours. It has now been over an hour since Va'ynna left for work.

Victoria started to call Uvena again.

Uvena picks up. "Have you found her?" she asks, without preamble.

"No, I have not. I was calling to see how much longer you will be. Because I am having no damn luck." There is some concern in her voice as she has not been able to find a single trace of Va'ynna.

Uvena sighs. "Goddess, what's the girl up to now," she mutters. "I'm waiting on a taxi to take me to the office. I'll get my gear and speak with the others when I get there."

"Yeah, you see about getting people from the office. I am gonna try and get some of my crew to help out." She pauses for a moment "Hey Uvena, wanna get my gear while you are there?"

Is it in the armory? I don't think I have access to your locker.

"Nevermind, I should not need it. Well, I will talk to you soon. I'll try and get some of my crew to give me a hand. You just try to get some Redrock people to give a hand as well.."

Will do.

Uvena hangs up on the call.

Victoria begins to call Austin after the call with Uvena is done.

A wheeled car drives past Victoria during her call with Austin, but the streets in the residential area are otherwise quiet. The weather is unchanged except for that it is no longer snowing.

Victoria call with Austin takes 10 minutes before the call is ended. Vicky told them to meet her near the Respite, during the 30 minutes it took for her crew to arrive, Vicky was increasing her search area but with just herself it meant little. The crew she meets up with are Austin, Krath, Zernart, Corvus and Ash.

Victoria's search will yield her no new results. The snow has had enough time to cover any tracks Va'ynna might have left behind her.

More people will also be out and about by now, many which are headed for work. None of them has any new information for Victoria or her merry band of former pirates, however.
