Vasquez (Comms): "All Redrock personnel, this is Chief Vasquez! We have an emergency situation! I want status updates on everyone receiving this ASAP!"
#YanSun'sRoom – November 27, 2017
Jessica is seated on the bed, back against the wall, looking through her omni-tool when it goes off. The unexpected and sudden voice of Vasquez startles her, causing her to wince and mutter a string of expletives under her breath as her eyes close. "I am-..." she begins, pausing for a second, seeming a bit unsure of what's expected of her, "...here? Awake." she shrugs to herself, deciding to simply follow Nathan's lead as he chimes
Yan Sun has gone to bed decidedly early by her standards, perhaps still tired from the wedding. Vasquez' shouting is not particularly her favorite way to wake up, and she groans and stirs, hitting Jessica with her pillow. "Shut that ooooooff!" she pleads, not particularly registering what the voices are saying.
Jessica furrows her brow at Yan Sun and swats at her a number of times. "Shhhhh!" she shushes. "Is work! Not all of us can just sleep all of the times!"
Jessica's scowl deepens as she realizes she's still broadcasting. She ends her transmission and swats at Yan Sun again. "Gah! Look what you make me do!"
Yan Sun grumbles, bringing up a hand to shield herself. She blinks repeatedly, trying to clear her vision. "Wha-...? Work...? Now?" she mumbles, slowly scooting up into sitting against the bedframe, trying to catch onto what's going on.
Jessica scoffs loudly as Vasquez responds. She raises her hand to swat at Yan Sun again, but merely bluffs before addressing Vasquez. "Is nothing. I am here." she responds, glaring at Yan Sun. "Uhh... Standing by."
Yan Sun flinches at the fake-out, shooting Jessica a glare in return but remaining silent as she speaks on the radio.
Jessica reaches out to give Yan Sun a quick shove before swinging her legs off the side of the bed. "Now just shut up." she says, casting a glance back over her shoulder to Yan Sun before heading over to the desk to sit down, "I am trying to hear."
Yan Sun remains in bed, frowing as she's shoved, but remaining quiet, observing and trying to listen with interest.
Jessica sighs loudly as she stands from her seat, wordlessly stomping towards the bathroom to begin gearing up.
Yan Sun blinks in confusion. "Wh-... Jessica? What's going on?!" she calls out after her, scooting over to the edge of the bed and swinging her legs over the edge.
Jessica calls out loudly from the bathroom. "I don't fucking know! They are useless without me!" she scoffs.
Yan Sun frowns, remaining on the edge of the bed, palms pressed against it. "Are you... being called in? Now?!"
Yan Sun still seems a little bewildered by the sudden emergency. "What the hell? Is it a combat thing...?" she asks, grabbing her shirt from the floor and slipping it on.
Jessica begins slipping into her undersuit, a few grunts, groans, and rattling of items sounding out from the bathroom. "I am betting she just needs help finally pulling that giant stick out of her ass." she calls out. "Is going to take all of us."
Yan Sun doesn't seem all that amused, the sheer number of people called in on such short notice indicating it's a serious situation of some sort.
Jessica eventually steps out of the bathroom donning her grey Enforcer hardsuit with her plated boots in her hand. She sits back at the desk and begins to tug them on in silence.
Yan Sun slips out of bed, standing a ways behind Jessica as she leans to the side, trying to catch a better glimpse of her. "You... uhm... be careful, yeah?" she says tentatively.
Jessica gives a few small nods. "Mmm." she hums as she locks her boots into place. She scoops her pistol up off of the spot she leaves it at on the desk and begins the process of loading a thermal clip into it.
Yan Sun frowns slightly at Jessica's minimal response. Her worry is obvious, as is the fact that she doesn't really know how to handle the situation. She goes quiet, her gaze falling as she bites her lower lip.
Jessica gives her pistol the once over before folding it up and attaching it to her thigh. Once situated, her gaze moves to Yan Sun. "What is wrong?" she asks with a sigh.
Yan Sun 's gaze darts back up to Jessica. "I-..." she sighs quietly. "You think it'll be dangerous?"
Jessica furrows her brow as she considers it. "Probably." she says plainly. It's not until Jason's announcement that her gaze drops somewhat, eyes closing momentarily. "Shit..." she mutters to herself with a sigh. She's quick to wipe away any concern on her face as she stands up, giving a roll of her shoulders. "It is sounding like maybe I will be gone for a little while..." she says, doing her best to hide the fact that it bothers
Yan Sun frowns as she overhears the announcement. "You're-... what? But-... you can't just-..." A deflated sigh escapes her, her shoulders falling as she looks at Jessica, obviously far from happy with this news.
Jessica shrugs her shoulders, giving a small smirk as if unconcerned with the new information. "Is probably going to be many credits." she says as she reaches for Yan Sun's right hand with her left. "Is good." she decides with a couple of nods, probably trying to convince herself as much as Yan Sun. "If you are still here when I get back, maaaybe we will go for the 10,000 credit bottle of shit wine this time." she teases, as if,
perhaps, the credits and what they can buy might convince Yan Sun to stick around until she returns. She gives a wiggle of her eyebrows. "Mmmm?"
Yan Sun gives a half-hearted snicker, obviously still worried. "Wasn't planning on going anywhere..." she says quietly, forcing a small smirk into place as she tries to match Jessica's apparent mood with little success.
Jessica's smirk grows a bit more sincere upon hearing Yan Sun. She remains silent for a short while, her thumb running back and forth across Yan Sun's hand. "I should probably-..." she finally says, nodding towards the door.
Yan Sun is quick to nod, sucking in her lips again and grasping Jessica's hand a light squeeze. "Y-... yeah. Right. Just..." She furrows her eyebrows, looking away briefly. "Come back in one piece, yeah...?" she says as she looks back at her, quickly adding "Or... I can't afford any shit wine." with small, short-lived smirk, perhaps trying to avoid transferring her worry to Jessica.
Jessica gives a slightly nervous snicker. "Mmm." she says, though doesn't seem eager to move right away. "Just be here when I do. Otherwise I will find you!" she says, trying to make it sound like a playful threat to avoid any of her own insecurities coming out. Her other hand moves to Yan Sun's left hip and she glances down a bit before looking back to her face and leaning in. Perhaps the most obvious tell of the night of Jessica's
nerves, her kiss is short and sweet. She's quick to release her grip on Yan Sun's hand as she moves to collect her helmet.
Yan Sun seems a little caught off-guard by the kiss, remaining in place after Jessica lets go. She watches her silently, unable to keep slight hints of a worried frown away from her face, but she doesn't say anything, fighting back the urge to ask her to stay. It's just a stupid job right? But... it's not her place.
Jessica returns from the bathroom, helmet in hand, and takes a step towards the door. She looks back towards Yan Sun, fighting back that voice in the back of her head telling her that she's going to return to an empty room. Yan Sun will be gone and she'll be alone again. "Later, slut." she says, raising her free hand in a haphazard wave before planting it against the door's panel.
Yan Sun lets out a surprised snort of genuine amusement, which for a brief second breaks the somber mood of the room. "Later..." she replies in a slightly shaky voice, blinking back hints of tears and flashing a tiny smile Jessica's way.
Jessica steps through the door once opened. Her hand on the panel trails behind her and she extends her middle finger, waggling it at Yan Sun as she disappears into the hallway.
Yan Sun almost immediately drops into a sitting position on the edge of the bed, staring at the door through which Jessica disappeared. She soon lies down, burying herself under the covers and turning towards the wall, staring at it in silence as she tries to ignore the pit in her stomach.
