It's the 2nd of December, and Tara is getting ready to leave work. She's just collected her outerwear and exited into the bar area when she's intercepted by Yan Sun, who practically springs from her seat at a nearby booth, leaving a soda behind on the table. "Hey! Hey, Tara!" she calls out as she approaches. She slows down once she has her attention, offering a slightly apologetic look when she notices the girl's almost startled

expression. "Where-... where's Leah?"

Tara furrows her eyebrows, lowering her head slightly. "She's... on a mission." she answers quietly.

Yan Sun blinks. "...oh. I was hoping-... do you when she's coming back?"

Tara shakes her head slightly. "No." she replies, tensing slightly at being unable to provide an answer.

Mendez steps out from the backroom. As usual, he's quite the imposing figure. A hulking form, armored from the neck down with a shotgun folded up on his back. As he rounds the bar to catch up to Tara, he casts a brief, uninterested glance Yan Sun's way before his attention settles back on the former. "Ready to get going, little bird?" he asks, his deep voice carrying its usual lack of enthusiasm that borders on monotone. As he

recognizes her discomfort, however, his gaze returns to Yan Sun.

Tara seems briefly hesitant as she glances to Yan Sun, but nods in response to Mendez' question.

Yan Sun seems a little caught off-guard by Mendez' arrival, having to crane her neck to turn her gaze from Tara to him. "Uh... hi." she offers. Armor. Weapon. Wait... "You're-... you're Redrock, aren't you?"

Thiago cocks an eyebrow at Yan Sun. "I am." he says simply, seeming none too eager to expand on that any further or question her interests.

Yan Sun nods a few times, her eyebrows furrowing. "There's a mission going on. Some kind of emergency? Do you know anything about it?"

Mendez furrows his brow. It's not his place to give away Redrock's business. With a roll of his eyes, he's quick to respond with a resounding: "No." With a brief glance back at Tara, he takes a step past Yan Sun.

Yan Sun sidesteps to stay within view of Mendez and partly block his path, wincing slightly as she does. "Wait-wait-wait!" she exclaims, holding out her palms in a 'stop' gesture. "I jus-... please. Jessica Kaya. She's on it, right? I-... I haven't heard anything from her since she was called in five days ago." She sucks in her lips, an uncomfortable look briefly crossing her face as she studies the imposing man. "I'm not

asking you to... leak any operational details or whatever you're worried about. I-... I just want to know if she's okay. Please." she asks with another wince.

Tara seems about to follow Mendez, keeping her gaze low, but she stops when Yan Sun moves. The words cause a frown to cross her face, worries about Leah's absence rekindling, but she remains silent as ever.

Mendez has a sort of stutter-step moment as Yan Sun partially blocks his path in order to avoid bowling her over. He glares down at her, his expression unchanging as he briefly considers correcting that mistake and walking through the annoying woman. As she speaks, however, his expression softens. Kind of. Sort of. Not really. Stone faced as ever he studies her for a moment. She was the woman with Jessica at the wedding. He's

certainly been struggling with his own set of worries about Leah over the past few days, but he's done a good job of keeping those worries stowed away for Tara and Francois' sake. Not a particularly difficult task for him, of course. He casts another brief glance over at Tara, well aware that Yan Sun's line of questioning is sure to reignite any worries that the girl may have. "There isn't much I can say." he decides on

before quickly elaborating in case any thoughts of further prodding were to enter Yan Sun's mind: "Because I don't know much." With a deep sigh, he considers his words. "She is on a job." he confirms, having seen her name on the reports, "But they've been out of contact for several days." Normally, he would leave it at that. The facts and nothing more. But he was asked to take care of Tara, and that includes making sure

she doesn't worry herself to death. "They should be back any day now." he adds, more for Tara's sake than Yan Sun's.

Yan Sun nods again. "Oh. Okay. Yeah, okay." Another nod. "I-... good." For a moment she looks like she's going to press for more details, but Mendez' face makes her reconsider. She steps aside with a few more nods. A quiet "Thanks." follows, and she shoots a brief glance to Tara before starting to head back towards her table, a slightly distracted look on her face.

Tara says nothing, her frown lingering as she waits behind Mendez.

Mendez watches Yan Sun while she heads back to her table, silently patting himself on the back for handling the situation masterfully. Tact and class, T. Tact and class. The slightest, tiniest, smaaaaaallest hint of a grin crosses his face, completely oblivious to Tara's lingering frown. "Come on, little bird." he says as he starts towards the door once again, "You know how the old man gets when we make him wait."

Tara nods, quickly following after Mendez.
