#VVApartment – December 2, 2020

Va'ynna is walking down the hallway of the Redrock building at a brisk pace, headed to the lobby to meet up with Victoria. She seems a bit deep in thought, with a small frown on her face.

Victoria is seating in one of the lobby's chairs, typing a message on her omni-tool. She looks up and sees Va'ynna the frown on Va'ynna, she looks back with concern "Hey, what's the matter?"

Va'ynna snaps out of her thoughts as Victoria speaks to her, and she gives off a small shrug at first. "It's..., it's nothing to worry about," she says. She places her hand on the interface of the exit and zips up her winter-jacket in anticipation of the gust of cold air rushing in as the heavy door slides open. "Let's get home," she says, "I'm hungry." She brings up her omni-tool as she steps outside, navigating

the interface to unlock the car.

The car is still where she left it, and after a few seconds the doors open up.

Victoria stands up and follows Va'ynna out the front door. A slight look of concern still on her face. "Are you sure? It seems like something had you worrying." She stays by Va'ynna side, waiting to see if she would say anything.

Va'ynna puts the bag with Jason's present in the back seat before taking the pilot's seat before Victoria gets any ideas. "It's... just about Nari," she says. "Did I tell you that T'Iavay... didn't destroy the... program I had on my omni-tool to contact her?" She hovers her hand over the button to close the door,s waiting for Victoria to take a seat. Not that it would make a big difference, as the sky-car's doors

isn't designed for cold climates; the warm air inside is already gone.

Victoria moves to the passenger side of the sky-car and enters it. She nods. "I believe so." She stops for a moment, the sky-cars lost of warmth makes Vicky shiver for a moment. "Is that what Jason wanted to talk about?"

Va'ynna closes the car immediately and adjusts up the heating. "Mhm," she hums. "With... everything going on at the Respite, and this holiday, I had... just... tried not to think of that." She starts the sky-car, and it begins lifting off the ground. "Jason wanted to... apologize for bringing that up at the Respite," she says. "He thinks I should put more... thought into the decision whether to cut contact, but

also that it's not his place to make it for me." With a few taps on the car computer, the route home is plotted in and the sky-car accelerates without any more input from the asari. "I wish... T'Iavay would have listened to me, because... then it would have been so much easier."

Victoria remains silent for the time being, letting what Va'ynna said sink in. "I've never really been good at giving advice, Va'ynna. But maybe Jason is right, spend sometime thinking about it." She turns her head towards the asari. "It is ultimately your choice, no one can tell you what to do. It's your life, so it is your choice. So whatever you'll choose, I'll support you and your

choice." She smiles at Va'ynna, hoping that makes the asari feel a little better about the situation.

Va'ynna looks Victoria's way when she speaks. "I know," she says. "It's... I just, I... I feel it's maybe not fair." She looks back at the instruments ahead of her as she considers it. "After what Uvena did, by... giving up on me, I let her back into my life," she says. "Wouldn't cutting all ties with Nari be me judging Uvena's wrongs as lesser? Or... is it different because she came out here to see me while Nari

is deliberately difficult to contact?" It's not questions she expect an answer to, as they're asked to herself just as much as to Victoria.

Victoria just listens to Va'ynna, she did not really have the answers Va'ynna was looking for. "Maybe that is why you let Uvena back into your life and why it is a tougher choice with Nari." Doing her best to help Va'ynna with this situation. "I mean, people just make mistakes that's life. Sometimes forgiving a person for a mistake is good or bad thing. It's one of those things that need

to play out before you can tell if it is good or bad."

Va'ynna nods. "It's... something to think about," she says, sounding a bit distant as she looks ahead at the night sky, the frown on her face growing deeper. "I'm sorry, Victoria," she says, still looking ahead. "It must seem so... thoughtless of me to agonize over this when... you... you didn't... you didn't get this chance."

Victoria remains silent for a moment, a slight frown appearing on her face. "The life I had, Va'ynna. It made that choice for me, and it did not bother me." She stops again for a moment, turning her attention to the night sky. "It wasn't until I was left here, and started a new life. That I thought of what could've been." She turns her attention back to Va'ynna, the asari might notice a

slight tear in her eye. "You have a choice to make, Va'ynna. It is your decision to make, but think about it first." She quickly wipes the tear away and gives Va'ynna a smile.

Va'ynna looks at Victoria while she speaks, and so does notice the tear. It undermines Victoria's words as far as her own guilt is concerned. "I'm sorry," she repeats, not knowing what else to say right now. The car is now flying over denser parts of the town, and the lights of their apartment building come into view in the distance.

Victoria reaches an arm over and places it around Va'ynna's shoulders. "Hey, no reason to be sorry." The smile still on her face. "Look, Va'ynna if you asked me a year ago about if I had any regrets I would've just said piss off to whoever asked it." She stops for a moment and keeps her focus on Va'ynna. "Now that I am here, with you. I sometimes think of what could've been. That's thanks

to you, sweetie." The smile remains on her throughout her confession.

Va'ynna sighs, tensing up a bit at the arm over her shoulder as her feeling of guilt still persist. "Doesn't that mean that... I made it more difficult?" she asks.

Victoria shakes her head. "I don't like to think about it like that. I use to just drink whenever I had those thoughts. Not exactly the healthiest thing to do." She keeps her arm around Va'ynna's shoulder. "Now given a chance to think about it, in a weird way it's a... nice relief."

Va'ynna relaxes her shoulders somewhat, and a small nod follows. "Yeah, you're right," she says. "That isn't healthy. This... really is better." They're nearly over their apartment building now and the car slows down, and she looks down at the interfaces to verify that the car is going in for a landing. "I... I'll think about it," she says. "Maybe... if-... no, we have a good meal, gifts and... a nice evening

ahead of us. We'll think about that tonight, okay?" The car starts its descent towards a spot near the main entrance.

Victoria raises an eyebrow at Va'ynna wondering what she was about to say but shrugs it off as her stomach growls again. "Yeah, now that you mention that meal again. So let's just enjoy ourselves tonight." She takes her arm off of Va'ynna's shoulders.

Va'ynna nods. "Yeah," she says as she hears Victoria's stomach rumble. "We better get working on that." There may have been an emphasis on 'we'. She waits for the car to come to a stop before she opens the doors, though she doesn't power the vehicle down. She reaches over her seat to grab her bag from the back seat before climbing out, shuddering a bit at the cold weather that was all too eager to replace the air

the moment the doors went up.

Victoria waits for the sky-car to finally land before hopping out of the vehicle. She shivers at the cold winter night. "Can't get inside fast enough, warmth and food." She checks her pocket to make sure the Christmas card is still there and did not fall out.
