Mid-afternoon, 24th of December. Victoria and Va'ynna has been away for a while delivering gifts, leaving Uvena to look after the apartment.
#VVApartment – December 9, 2020
Uvena is sat on the couch, watching the news on the screen. A cookie or two from the plate may have disappeared recently, but the asari has not done much of anything in the meantime. She is wearing a fuzzy green turtle-neck sweather and fitting gray jeans.
Sarah has recently finished a shift, so she had to rush home to get ready and then quickly made her way to her sister's apartment. She sents a message to Vicky once she is heading over to the apartment. Once at the apartment she presses the buzzer to the apartment. She is wearing a white winter coat, and black jeans.
Uvena is quick to rise from the couch at the sound of the buzzer. She casts a glance at the thermometer in the oven before heading over to answer on the door phone. Uvena is given a view of the camera at the other end, but there's no camera in the apartment. "Hello?" she says
Sarah was expecting just to be let in by her sister, upon hearing Uvena's voice she worries that she might've pressed the wrong buzzer. "Oh, sorry. Is this Victoria's apartment?" She asks as she looks over the buzzer to make sure to pressed the correct button.
Uvena | "Yes, they're delivering presents up at Redrock's office, they should be back any moment now," she says. "I'll let you in." She hits the button to unlock the front door before ending the call. Uvena has no intention of keeping her out in the biting cold weather longer than absolutely neccesary. She also unlocks the door to the apartment before making her way back to the kitchen to check on the food again.
Sarah lets out a sigh of relief, she quickly makes her way into building, thankful that she is no longer in the cold. She makes her way to her sister's apartment, wondering if it was Va'ynna's mother answering the buzzer or a guest her sister failed to mention. Once at the door of the apartment she knocks on the door of the apartment waiting to be let in.
Sarah smiles at Uvena once the door is opened. "Hi, I'm Sarah. Victoria's sister." Deciding to introduce herself before even thinking about taking a step inside.
Uvena returns the smile. "Hey, Sarah," she says before deciding to introduce herself in a similar manner: "I'm Uvena, Va'ynna's mother." She staps aside to let her past. "They didn't tell me you'd be here so soon, but that's no problem."
Sarah walks into apartment and takes off her winter coat to reveal a black sweater underneath. "I sent her a message before I left my place. She probably forgot to send you a message." She also takes off her boots, not wanting to make a mess in her sister's home.
Uvena shrugs. "Maybe they were in the middle of something," she says before closing the door behind her. "So, did you get done all you wanted to do for the holiday?" She makes her way back to the couch, glancing towards the kitchen on her way over.
Sarah gives a nod and follows Uvena to the couch. "Not really, I could not think of a good gift idea for your daughter. So I guess me and her will have to go shopping together, so I can get her what she wants." Before she sits down, she turns back and goes to her winter coat to grab a small gift box out of her coat. She turns back and goes back to the couch. "Better not forget my
Uvena nods. "Maybe she'd like that," she says as she watches her go back to get Victoria's gift. "She's a bit... security concious, though, so don't take it personally if she declines." She gestures towards the tree as she returns with the present, after looking the box over. "You should put it under the tree with the others," she says. "I don't know why, but that's where they've stored the presents."
Sarah nods at Uvena. "Then I'm sure I could convince Victoria to tag along." She moves over to the tree and places the gift under the tree. She turns to face Uvena "Oh right, this would be your first Christmas right?" She moves over to the couch and takes a seat. "The gift under the tree is just tradition now."
Uvena laughs softly. "That tells me nothing that isn't obvious," she says, "but you're right. It is my first Christmas. I've seen the decorations pop up now and then ever since your species set up shop at the Citadel, but I have had no reason to celebrate it before." She shrugs. "We can't all adopt every holiday, you know."
Sarah gives a soft chuckle back. "That's fair, way too many holidays for that." She says, "Well, if you need a quick lesson on Christmas I can offer my tutoring service, since it is a human holiday."
Uvena nods. "Thanks," she says light-heartedly with a small smile. "Va'ynna told me all there is to know, I think, but the impression I'm getting is that no two humans celebrate it the same." She sighs, and lets that topic go for now. "So, how about you? Do you celebrate it every year?"
Sarah nods "And that would be the correct impression to have." She waits for Uvena to finish her question. "Yeah, I celebrate it every year. I feel like Christmas changes for people when they grow older. Having a time of year to spend with friends and family, offering gifts to one another and just enjoying the company." She offers a warm smile.
Uvena smiles. "Doesn't everything?" she asks with a chuckle. "So, you're not from this town then? Or have you managed to elude Victoria for so long?" Some of their story of reunion has reached her, it appears; probably from Va'ynna.
Sarah the smile fades from her face and turns into a frown instead. "I'm new to town. The story with my sister, is a long one." The frown stays on her face. "And it's a story I've only had one side for the longest of time, before I found her and she told me her side. It's probably best to hear it from her, not me." The conversation was something that she was not totally comfortable
Uvena pays attention while she speaks, noting the change in expression, which cause her smile to fade as well. "I've heard fragments of it," she admits. "There's a long story between me and Va'ynna too, though." She sighs and reaches out to take a small cookie off the tray, casting a glance towards the kitchen as she does. "But at least we're mending things, right?" she says, looking back at her. "Or trying to."
Sarah gives a nod. "It sounds like both of us are trying to mend things. I feel like there is always a chance to mend things if given time." She stops for a moment and think about the time she has spent with Victoria since finding her, a smile coming to her face again. "It seems to be going well with me and my sister, so I hope it is going well for you and your daughter."
