Uvena hasn't moved from her position at the bar. A just recently filled glass of brandy is on the bar counter in front of her. While she's in her armor suit, she has no weapons on her aside from a biotic amp.

Jason moves from the booth back to the bar and takes a seat on a stool beside Uvena. "Rum and coke." he calls out to Aylena with a smile, eager to get his drink on with the hope that his Rellis issues are behind him, "When you get the chance." He leans back and rotates his shoulders, giving them a quick stretch, and turns on his stool to better face Uvena. "I wasn't trying to give

you the cold shoulder. I'd just prefer to keep a barrier between our employees and our clients." he says.

I wasn't expecting you, either.

Uvena takes a sip of her drink. Her voice is flat, and she doesn't even look at Jason. "You'll be getting the rest of your money in the next days, don't worry."

Aylena nods and goes off to get the rum & coke, taking a bit longer to find it since it's still not as organized as it used to be.

Jason gives a couple of nods. "I hope the information we were able to provide was useful." he says. He glances over at Aylena, watching her make his drink for a few moments before giving a sigh, "Look... I'm sorry about V. It was none of my business, and I should've stayed out of it. I just don't like keeping things from my friends."

Uvena nods. "Me too," she sighs. "I acted on barely a shred of information, and I just made things worse." She downs half the glass. "If the data's exact, there's going to be a green coat of paint on a wall somewhere very soon." The glass shakes a little as her grip tightens, but it's not enough to crack it.

Aylena returns to the counter and mixes the drink in an ice-filled glass. After a moment, she hands it to Jason without a word before getting back to typing on the terminal.

So... You know where Rellis is?

Jason reaches out and pulls his drink closer.

Uvena finally turns towards Jason. "I don't," she says, "but if it's in the data, I'll hear of it soon enough. There's an old acquintance of mine back on Thessia that's most interested in the data, and responsible for most of the credits paid."

Jason sighs but nods. He takes a sip of his drink before speaking, "If you get a location for our salarian friend, I'd appreciate it if you'd share. I have no intention of acting on it, but he's done a lot of damage to me and mine... Would be nice to know where to hit back if it comes to that."

Uvena nods. "I'll consider it," she says before downing the rest of her drink and puts it on the counter. "I will pursue it unless the data also mentions an army stationed there... or something of that sort."

Well, good luck with that. Can't say I'll be sad to see that fucker put down. He set us back so far, it'll be months before we're really operational again.

Uvena shoves the glass a bit towards the bartender. "Another." She frowns. "Sorry," she says. "Everything I'm part of falls apart. I've... I should have said that when I met you,"

Jason smirks and gives a shrug. "Yeah. Might've been nice to know beforehand." he says with a slight chuckle. "If it's any consolation, I've probably got you beat in that department. I'm like a walking, talking omen of bad luck."

Uvena gives a amused snort. "I suppose that makes for a nasty synergy then," she says. "Just... tell me if they come here again." Once Aylena returns with her ordered drink, she takes a large sip of it.

Jason gives a nod. "I can do that. With any luck, though, that won't be an issue. We took steps to end this whole feud with Rellis. Hopefully it's over."

Uvena nods. "Good," she says. "So... how is she holding up? Va'ynna, I mean."

Jason takes another drink from his glass. "She'll be fine. Physically. Mentally, though?" he frowns, "She doesn't handle this stuff well..."

Oh....

Uvena is quiet for a few seconds. "It's not a surprise, but it makes me wonder what she's doing out here in the first place."

That makes two of us. The Terminus certainly isn't any place for someone like her.

She's too good for this place.

Uvena sighs. "I was hopeful when I heard she was out here," she says, taking a long sip of her drink. "That.... I don't know. Maybe she was in fact better off without me."

Jason stares at his glass for a moment. "What actually happened between you two?" he finally manages, "Seems like whatever it was, it cut deep..."

Uvena is quiet for a moment before downing the rest of her drink. "I failed her, I didn't know what to do," she says. "And... I... gave up."

Jason furrows his brow. "Failed her? I'm not following. How?"

Uvena looks down on the counter, looking a little conflicted. Was she really disclosing all this to someone who's mostly a stranger... It could be the drinks. "She's wasn't doing well in school, or socially," she says. "She needed help. I'm not proud of what I did, but I couldn't take care of her anymore." She doesn't look back at him, but her expression is visibly sadened.

I'm.... still not following. Did you just up and leave?

Uvena sighs. "Almost," she says. "I left her to the authorities. It felt like the right thing to do at the time, but shame doesn't even begin to describe how I felt afterwards." She brings up a hand to wipe her eye. "If I could go back in time and undo it, I wouldn't even hesitate."

Jason lets out a deep breath and takes another sip of his drink. "Unfortunately, that's not the way things work. You made a choice, and it's yours to live with. But there's nothing stopping you from talking to her now. Telling her you're sorry. She may not want to see you, but all you can do is reach out and try. The rest is up to her."

Uvena nods. "I know very well I can't," she says, sounding a bit frustrated. "She already have people that cares for her... people she deserves being part of her life." She pushes her glass slightly towards the bartender with another "another".

Jason frowns and shakes his head. "Oh, get over it. You're her mother, for fuck's sake. Stop making excuses and give it a shot. It's obvious that it bothers you. The worst that can happen is she turns you down, and you're back at square one. At least you tried. Maybe it's not something she can forgive. And if that's the case, there's nothing you can do but respect her decision. But

at least put the ball in her court. You owe her that much."

Aylena takes the glass and refills it, since she had the bottle within arm's reach anyway. "You sure you haven't had enough?" she said as she passes the glass. "I don't think sober-you would be spilling that so easily." She returns to her work without awaiting a response.

Uvena turns towards Jason, not giving the bartender a response. "I... Maybe you're right," she says. "It's... just that..." She brings a hand up to her forehead and sighs. "She is the one I wronged. I'm not sure if it's just the drinks, but... maybe I should let her be the judge."

Jason gives a quick nod. "You owe it to her." he says, "But-... Sleep off some of this drink, first. Last thing you need is her thinking it's just some drunken rambling."

Uvena snorts. "I haven't had that many drinks," she says, "but... yeah, no way I'll go in this state." She picks up the glass, looking at it, but doesn't take a sip.

Uh huh... That's pretty much what I tell Vasquez everytime I'm sloshed, too.

Uvena chuckles and puts down the drink. "Maybe you're onto something there," she says. "I'll be fine in the evening. Maybe I'll go see her then."

Well, good luck with all that, Uvena. I hope it works out for you.

Jason takes another sip of his drink and sighs. "Also... I don't mean to be a pain in the ass, but when do you think you'll be able to transfer the rest of the credits? Any chance you can narrow it down a bit more than 'the next days'?"

I'll have it transferred to you once I get it. I know it's coming, but not when. She... can't just transfer it directly.

Jason sighs slightly. "No problem. We're just hurting a bit at the moment. Rellis really took a lot out of us." he says.

Uvena frowns. "It's coming, that much I can guarantee," she says. "It took two days to get all of it the last time, but the amount is bigger this time."

I don't doubt it's coming. I just hope my people don't start complaining when I have to pay them late.

Jason lifts his glass to his lips and takes another large swig before setting it back on the counter. "So what about you? I can't imagine you plan on sticking around Freedom Falls."

Uvena considers it for a moment. "That depends on what happens next," she begins. "As long as I have a purpose here, I'm staying. After that, I... will have to figure out something else to do with my life."

While I've got you all liquored up and spilling secrets.... What exactly is it you do?

Uvena chuckles. "I ran with mercs like so many other asari maidens," she says. "Then that god old, and I wanted to settle down... like almost everyone else during the fourth century. I took what honest job I could get back on Sanves to support me and my child after my savings ran low."

Jason raises an eyebrow. "Not gonna lie. All this doesn't exactly seem like an honest job."

Uvena sighs. "That was before that happened," she says. "Afterwards... I moved around a lot trying to find a new place to settle down, even done a few merc jobs here and there."

What's keeping you from settling down?

Nothing really worked out, so... I wanted to find my daughter, and try set things right instead of setting up the next failure.

Jason gives a shrug and empties the last of his glass. "Well. Now you've got that chance. Make it count." he says as he slides a credit chit across the counter and waves down Aylena, "I've gotta get back down to the hospital myself. Appreciated the talk, though. I hope everything works out for you and V. She's one of the good ones. She deserves to be happy."

Aylena takes the credit chit and returns it if there's anything left. She was working on the nearest terminal, since this place have been pretty empty.

Uvena nods. "Thanks, I needed to talk to someone," she says. "And she does, which is why I doubted going to talk with her."

Jason scoops up the credit chit and stands from his stool. He places a hand on Uvena's shoulder and gives it a pat. "Just be honest with her. Whatever happens, however she responds, all of that is out of your hands." he says. He gives Aylena a smile and a nod before turning on his heels and heading towards the exit without waiting for a response from Uvena.

Uvena doesn't respond before he's out of earshot. She turns back to the counter, and remains there for about five minutes before paying and leaving.
