#Deck3 – March 30, 2016
Nathan exits and peers around, deciding to explore the vessel. He starts by heading over to engineering and palming the interface, lest he is stopped for some reason.
The door lets out a negatory buzz, and the orange interface flashes red. The corridor is otherwise unoccupied for the moment.
(Corridor) The room you are trying to access is off-limit to passengers. Would you like me to contact the Chief Engineer?
Nathan hums for a moment then shakes his head. "Nah, don't bother. I was just curious as to what makes the ship tick is all. Are you suuuuure you couldn't let me in, oh dear sweet Victoria?" He says, trying to butter up the VI. Because that'll totally work on a computer.
Nathan sighs. "Alright, alright. I get it. No going into the engineering bay." He turns to the door. He looks back to the ceiling. He then presses the interface again.
The door suddenly opens right before Nathan's hand touches the interface, and Ling walks through, the mercenary's palm bumping against her face. She seems startled, and almost falls backwards. "Oh! I-I did-d-d-d-" Behind her the man could spot glimpses of the Engineering compartment, although nothing more exciting than a corridor lined with pipes and power conduits.
Nathan blinks as the metallic door suddenly turns fleshy. He reaches out to grab Ling's arm to prevent her from toppling, a look of surprise on his face. "Omigod I'm sorry! I didn't- I mean-... uh... hi?" He says awkwardly, his cheeks tinging with embarrassment.
Ling steadies herself with Nathan's help, looking equally embarassed. "H-Hi. I'm L-Ling. Engineer." she says, brushing a bang out of her face.
Nathan smiles politely at her, coughing awkwardly at his mistake. "Uh, Nathan. Tennhausen. Redrock explosives expert," he says. "Call me Ten," he adds with a chuckle. "Again... sorry. I was, uh, trying to piss off the VI by constantly pressing the interface...". He blinks at how stupid that sounded. "So! Engineer, huh? Must be exciting?"
Ling shrugs with a chuckle. "Uhm... y-yeah, I-I-I guess... it c-can be. N-Not as... exc-... exciting as y-your work though..."
Nathan hums a laugh and shrugs, rubbing the back of his neck. "Heh, well, it can get really boring from time to time. Being sat waiting for work an' all that. At least you have something to do constantly," he says with a smile. He realizes he's probably stopping her from eating her breakfast and steps to the side, still a slight tinge of embarrassment to his
Ling smiles slightly. "I-I guess." She looks back to engineering. "D-Did you n-need something in Eng-gineering...?"
Uh, no, no. Was just curious is all. Y'know, just seeing the ship. Getting to know it and all. Sorry to bother you and... hit you in the... face.
Nathan seems to be getting more and more awkward as time goes by. He shuffles slightly in his spot. "No, no, I shouldn't be slapping doors to try and piss off a computer," he says with a chuckle. "But I, uh... um... is it hot down here? It's hot down here isn't it?" He looks around with a frown. "I bet that VI turned the heat up in revenge. Wolfe was right. We
Ling points a thumb over her shoulder with a small laugh. "T-T-The reactor. I-It r-r-runs h-h-h-hot." She almost stomps a bit when she finally manages to finish the sentance, looking down in frustration.
Nathan glances back to her at her almost-stomp, quirking an eyebrow. "You okay?" He asks, hoping she doesn't interpret it the wrong way.
Ling shakes her head. "F-Fine. I-I-I should go..." She steps past Nathan and heads for the elevator.
Nathan nods as she walks by and... stands there in awkward silence for a few minutes. "...smooth. Well done, Nathan. Oh, I bet the VI turned up the heat in revenge," he mutters to himself as he slowly walks back to the elevator. "...idiot."
Nathan makes sure he heads to the elevator that Ling hasn't gone to. He thumbs the interface and steps inside, heading back to Deck 2.
