Yan Sun tilts her head a bit as she continues to study Jessica, both within the visible spectrum and without. She stands up, using the palm of her free hand to push her off the seat while the left remains on her cheek. She stands close to Jessica, every movement of her eyes made obvious by the glow as her gaze travels over her face. "I think you're afraid of a lot of things. You're afraid of being honest. You lie to your team, to me, to
Jessica's frown returns suddenly. "I was just-..." she stammers, wishing she could just tell Yan Sun off and be done with it. But try as she might, she just can't bring herself to intentionally hurt her feelings. She simply continues to stare at her for a long while. "I'm not afraid of being honest." she finally says, frown still plastered across her features, "I'm just not stupid. I've done things. Bad things, kitty
cat." She shrugs her shoulders, ever defiant, "And-... And I don't feel bad about any of it! I have no apologies to give. No redemption to ask for. This is just me. But do you think they would have given me a chance if I would have told them who I really was? Of course not! Yes, I lied. So what? This job was just supposed to be a ticket off of that miserable rock. But I haven't lied to you... Not since-.... the
elevator..." She gains a look of guilt as her gaze lowers, hand still over Yan Sun's, caressing the back of it gently.
Yan Sun 's expression shifts as a look of unease crosses her face. She almost seems like she's going to interrupt at one point, but she remains quiet. When Jessica finishes she nods faintly, avoiding her eyes. "Yeah... okay. My mistake." she says with a sigh before withdrawing her hand with an almost disappointed look before walking off to the front of the vehicle, sitting down in one of the two seats overlooking the control panel and
the angular, tinted windows that cover front, sides and ceiling. "You should probably start figuring out where you're gonna go, what you're gonna do..." she says while running her fingers distantly through the inactive haptic interface.
Jessica continues to look to the ground for a few moments longer once Yan Sun walks away, her hand falling to her side. "I don't know what you want me to say, kitty cat..." she says, sounding genuinely upset for once. "...What do you want from me?" She slowly turns to face the front of the vehicle, tentatively approaching Yan Sun from behind. "Do you want me to say I'll be a better person from
now on? That you and I can just-... go somewhere together after knowing each other for one week and it will all work out?" She slowly shakes her head as she grips the back of Yan Sun's chair. "You want honesty? Truth? The truth is that I would ruin you if we tried to keep this little-... charade going once this trip was over. And you deserve better than that." she says. There's no malice
Yan Sun lets out a drawn-out sigh as she leans her head back in the chair, closing her eyes and letting the glow of her implants fade away. "It was just a stupid thought." she says quietly, resuming her ineffectual poking at the holograms when her eyes open. "My mistake." she repeats. "Shouldn't have read too much into some fun on a long trip to nowhere. Shouldn't have prodded. It, uh... it won't happen again." she says finally, her
Jessica shuts her eyes as Yan Sun speaks. "Don't be this way..." she pleads, sounding as if most of the fight has been knocked out of her. "You talk to me about honesty, but rather than speaking to me, you do-... this?" Her hands move down from the back of the seat to Yan Sun's shoulders and she leans forward, resting her chin on the top of the woman's head. "...Talk to me." she says dejectedly, worried that she may have
pushed too hard. "Why is this such a big deal for you? You said you care about me, but how can you even know that? Every time I tell you anything about my life, you just seem-... disappointed. I see the expression on your face. Believe me, kitty cat, it only gets worse. I don't want to disappoint you." she says, her words getting softer the longer she speaks.
Yan Sun 's gaze falls lower, a distant look on her face as she listens. As Jessica continues to speak she starts to sit up straighter and by the end she shrugs her off, spinning the chair around and standing up. She places both of her hands on Jessica's arms, slowly sliding them down to her hands. "It's not complicated." she says with an awkward shrug. "I care because I like you, I've liked spending time with you. And I think maybe you
should give some more thought to what you do next, is all." She meets Jessica's gaze, a faint, hesitant frown on her face. "You're right, I don't really know you... but I'm not convinced you're as bad as you say you are."
Jessica avoids eye contact, her gaze fixed on Yan Sun's hands as they move. "I like you, too, kitty cat." she says quietly, wrestling with herself to remain sincere, lest she push her even further. "I-..." she begins, but quickly pauses and lets out a deep breath as she shrugs her shoulders, still studying Yan Sun's hands as if they're the most interesting thing in the world just to avoid eye contact, "....I will probably need
to stay on Aite a little while to figure out where I'm going... What I'm doing..." she finally manages, finding it difficult to have a direct, sincere conversation without soaking it in sarcasm or misdirection. "...Maybe we could-... I don't know-..." she continues awkwardly, her discomfort quite apparent, "...Hang out and see what happens...?"
Yan Sun slowly rubs her thumbs across Jessica's hands as she waits for her to speak. As she notices her discomfort a small smile spreads across her face, slowly growing when hears what she has to say. "I'd like that." she says softly, squeezing Jessica's hands and leaning in closer to plant a kiss on her right cheek as a quiet chuckle escapes her.
Jessica nods a couple times, gaze still locked on Yan Sun's hands. She doesn't even look up when she's kissed. "Just-... no promises, okay? We'll figure shit out, and whatever happens, happens." She doesn't bother giving a chance for a response before continuing, "Now we can drop it with all of the heavy stuff, yes? It's giving me a headache." She frowns and scrunches up her face as she finally looks back to Yan Sun's eyes.
Yan Sun nods at the first question, opening her mouth to respond, but goes quiet again as Jessica continues. "Sure thing." she says with another nod, an amused look on her face. Her smile turns into a grin as she tilts her head. "Can't be giving poor Bam Bam headaches..."
Jessica groans loudly. "Shut your fucking mouth! Right now! I told you that in confidence!" she shouts, lifting her hand up and shoving a finger in Yan Sun's face. "Stupid fucking name!" A smirk slowly begins to return to her face as she jabs her finger into Yan Sun's neck. "I can still stab you in your sleep, you know? Might want to be nicer to me." she teases.
Yan Sun lets out a giggle at Jessica's reaction, leaning her head back in an attempt to dodge the finger in her face. After being 'stabbed' in the neck she grabs a hold of the hand and raises an eyebrow. "Really...? Because last I checked you don't have your knife anymore..." she says as her grin widens.
Jessica squirms to try and free her hand playfully. "And whose fault is that, mmm!? You dropped my knife into the water! Annnnd it's your fault I lose my gun! That was my father's gun! And I just-... tossed it aside to make sure you don't get ripped to shreds by hungry vorcha. I can promise you, if I had saved my shotgun instead of you? It wouldn't be standing here teasing me about a dumb nickname!" she continues to
tease as she frowns, "I chose poorly." Her frown quickly gives way to her smirk once again and, if she had any sentimental feelings towards the gun, she surely isn't showing it.
Yan Sun tightens her grip of Jessica's hand, leaning in closer to her, but the mention of the gun causes her grin to fade. "I-... I'm sorry. I didn't know-..." she mumbles, but seeing the lack of reaction to its loss and not wanting to bring the mood down she quickly speaks up again. "Yeah, I guess you're right, it wouldn't be teasing you, Bam Bam..." Her grin returns as she pulls the woman closer by the hold she has of her hands,
Jessica continues to make a show of trying to squirm her way out of Yan Sun's grip, although she's not trying very hard. Her struggle ceases for a moment as Yan Sun leans in for a kiss. "Mmmm. You make a very good point that I hadn't yet considered, kitty cat..." she says softly, "...But I think I need some more convincing." she adds, her smirk widening.
Yan Sun raises an eyebrow. "Oh yeah? Hmh..." She lets go of Jessica's hands, trailing her own back up her arms slowly. "I think that could be arranged..." she says with a mischievous gleam in her eyes. As her hands reach Jessica's neck she pulls her in for another kiss, pressing her body against the mercenary's.
Jessica returns the kiss, shutting her eyes as her hands slide down to Yan Sun's waist. "Mmmm. A lifedebt is difficult to repay." she teases as she breaks the kiss, backing Yan Sun up. Her hands slide back up to Yan Sun's shoulders and she gives her a shove, attempting to push her back into the seat. "Verrrry difficult. And a very serious matter. Mmmm. How do we clear this up?" she sings, grinning from ear-to-ear.
