Ilyna nods. "Point taken," she says before a faint biotic shimmer surrounds her. "I hope they find a spot before we'll have to walk all the way back from our vantage point."
#North – April 6, 2016
Jason decides it has probably been enough time to report back. "Alpha, reporting in." he announces over comms before glancing over at Ilyna. "Could take them all day to find a suitable spot to set up camp. This might be our only chance to really stretch our legs until they do, too. Might as well enjoy it."
Ilyna defers to Jason to the comms reporting. "Yeah," she sighs. "It really is nice and quiet. It's just that... there could be a Geth hiding just past the next hill for all I know." She looks around the snowy field as she continues stomping along it.
While no doubt doing little to assuage Ilyna's worries, there is nothing but flat, snowy ground visible in any direction. The only irregularity is a lighter cloud cover to the north-north-east.
Jason nods along with her. "Sure, but see, we'd have the upper hand." he says, "Because first they'd need to come down and make a snowy hill to hide behind. We could definitely get the drop on them." He lets out a chuckle and gestures forward, "I'm sorry, you're right... I just-... We're half way across the galaxy, you know? I don't want to dwell on all the things that might keep me from
getting home." He gives a shrug as he continues forward, "Doesn't mean I'm not on my guard. That much I assure you."
Ilyna frowns. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sour our conversation," she says. "I guess there is some truth to my sisters' claim that I'm an over-protective worrywart after all." She matches his pace as she follows beside him. "That's not true, right?" she says. "I worry just about enough."
Jason tilts his head to one side, then the other, seemingly having trouble coming to a conclusion. A laugh escapes him as he nudges the asari, "I mean, you do have a tendency to worry a lot. But it's good. One of us has to, right? I'm just afraid you're going to worry yourself into an early grave. Stress is a killer, you know? Wouldn't want you to keel over at the ripe, young age of 830 or
The teams should be just about reaching the 20 minute mark. There is nothing of interest to report in the north. The drones are barely visible, small as they are and far ahead.
Ilyna laughs as well. "I'll have a lot of time to change until then," she says. "My mother's past that age, though, and she's the one I got it from... according to dad." Her smile is still there.
Jason continues to smile as he listens to Ilyna speak. "So worrying over every detail runs in the family. That explains it, then." he jokes as he slows his pace until he stops completely, allowing his weapon to hang at his side. He places his other hand on his hip and glances back towards the ship and then back in front of them. "Should be good to stop here." he says, simply surveying the area
Ilyna stops a few steps in front of Jason and turns towards him. "Yeah, I'm not going to argue with that," she says, starting on her way back, "even if I... do enjoy talking with you with no curious eavesdroppers or gossiping crew nearby."
Jason gives a chuckle as he starts back beside her. "They're never going to let you live that whole 'Tanner' thing down, you know that, right? You haven't heard the end of it yet." he taunts. He activates his comms to report back to the others as he continues beside Ilyna, "Alpha reporting in. Aside from a fuckton of snow, we've only come across two things out here: 'jack' and 'shit'. Returning
Ilyna is polite enough to wait until he's done reporting in before giving him a hard nudge to the side. "And it's all thanks to you, Jason," she says. "You're terrible."
Jason makes a show of groaning loudly and reaching over with his free hand to grab his side, his Revenant still hanging at his side. "Ya know I was thinking, the next time we're having some credit problems I could just give Tanner a call. Invite him out to visit. You can run out and give him a big hug and I'll take as many pictures as I can. Sell them off to all of the magazines." he says with
Ilyna steps closer to him with an angry look to her face, but her expression softens very soon after. "That's not funny," she says, deciding not to hit him this time.
Jason hops away with a stupid grin. "I'm just saying! You'll never be short for credits! You've always got a plan to fall back on." he continues to tease.
Ilyna takes a few quick steps closer to give him a solid push to the side. She doesn't say anything.
Jason stumbles through the snow a bit but regains his footing pretty quickly. He steps back beside Ilyna, giving her a quick nudge and tossing an arm over her shoulder as they continue their hike back to the ship. "See? This is fun. Nothing trying to kill us. No crazy, reanimating dead bodies. If only they could all be this way."
Ilyna spends the gathered biotic energy in a weak singularity about 30 feet away on their 2 'o clock. All it does is kicking up loose snow, and is completely harmless. The pair wouldn't notice it's pull at all. "That would be a welcome change, yeah," she says with a smile. "I'll take being embarrassed over that any day."
Jason nods as they continues along, but stops once she tosses out the singularity. He glances over at it, big goofy grin persisting. "Looks kind of like a snow-globe." he says with a chuckle, tilting his head as he studies it.
Ilyna looks over at it too, stopping in turn. "Mhm, it does," she says. "That's ten years of training, and this is the only valid use of it I have." The snow about 3 feet away from the core shuffles around on the ground, making the extent of its range very apparent. The ball of powdery snow fades in density from the bottom up, making snow globe a very apt description. It persists for another three seconds before it dissipates unceremoniously and
