#ResearchCamp – April 19, 2016
Jasper gives a couple of nods. "Yeah, yeah... Jus'... Lemme get off my feet fer a few." he says, turning towards the kitchen module. "Maybe-.... maybe get some coffee in me..." he mutters.
Jasper waves him off as he continues towards the kitchen. Once inside, the door closes and, a moment later, a muffled grinding can be heard.
Uvena snaps her attention to the coffee maker. "What is that sound?" she asks. She is still sitting at the table.
Jasper continues to act as if the coffee maker isn't making a horrendous sound, whistling along as it makes a pot of coffee. Once it finishes, he pours some into a mug and raises it up towards the other two. "Gooood stuff. Ain't nothin' better after almost gettin' eaten by a monster."
Nathan shrugs. "I dunno... I can think of a few more things," he says with a sideways smirk at Uvena.
Uvena smirks back. "Was there anything down there that weren't hostile?" she asks. She is in the process of putting the armor pieces she took off earlier back on.
Jasper takes a seat at the table, looking down into his mug and blowing on his coffee. His hand is visibly shaking. "Yap. Quite a bit a' life down there, actually." he says, butting in.
Nathan looks to Jasper and walks around, albeit with a slightly unsteady motion, and makes to place a reassuring hand on the old man's shoulder. "You did good, Jasper. Stayed down there a hell of a lot longer than me," he says quietly. "...I shouldn't have ran."
Jasper glances up at the man with a shake of his head. "Wha-... Naw, Ten. Ya didn't have any choice. Them things were everywhere." he says, giving a small smile, "We all made it. That's all that matters, ain't it?"
Nathan nods and removes his hand, stepping back round to sit besides Uvena again. "Yeah, that's all that matters," he agrees.
Uvena smiles. "Did you take any pictures of the harmless ones?" she asks. She is done putting on the armor for one arm, and she moves on to the other.
Nathan shakes his head. "I only saw coral and... angry things," he says with a shiver. "Christ, but that thing hit hard."
Jasper gives a nod. "Got a few pictures myself. Maybe once they go over all the Triton data they'll let us have some copies. Some awfully purty stuff down there. Some awfully horrible stuff down there, too..."
Uvena nods. "I'll ask one of the researchers outside if I run into them," she says. "Or... no, nevermind." She is halfway through putting the left forearm's armor pieces on, although she's not in a hurry.
Jasper continues to nurse his coffee. "Guessin' it might take 'em a while to go through all that data. Not too sure how all that works, but I know I'd like a few copies, jus' fer records-sake. Ya know?"
Uvena finishes putting on the last piece of armor. "You may have to get used to that for a while," she says. "I'm not sure who handles medical checkups in this camp, but she might be part of the team going after the probe."
Nathan groans. "It feels weird," he complains. He huffs and leans against the table, propping himself up with his elbows. "...I could really go for a beer...".
Jasper's eyes light up. "Well have I got the thing fer you!" he says, "My own personal brew! Stowed a bit away fer a special occasion!"
Uvena smirks. "Hey, no drinking on the job," she says, "Unless you're sharing, of course." Her tone is light-hearted.
Jasper nods once, "Yer damn tootin'! Got 'nuff fer botha ya'll. Got a whole bucket a' the junk back home!" He stands from his seat, leaving his cup behind, and starts towards the door. Once he reaches it, he glances back with a concerned look on his face. "Now, be warned, it will give ya a serious case a' the poops."
Nathan snorts. "Honestly, I don't rightfully care! Bring it on in, Jasper!" He grins widely at the man.
Uvena ponders it for a few seconds. "I... should be getting back to-," she nods. "I'll have a little before I got out."
Jasper's smile brightens up and he hurries off towards the bunks. "Ya'll jus' sit tight! I'll be right back!"
