#Deck4 – April 26, 2016
Ling is currently kneeled infront of the Triton that Nathan piloted during the dive, looking at the read-outs on her omni-tool with a frustrated frown.
Spencer is walking around the hold, taking inventory of the cargo and how much was lost during the expedition.
Jasper approaches the wrecked Triton and begins circling it. He lets out a long, high-pitched whistle. "It's a dang miracle that Ten made it outta that thing alive, ain't it?" he asks as he studies the machine.
Ling lets out a quiet sigh. "Y-Yes... i-it's comp-completely d-d-destroyed..." she says with a shake of her head.
Jasper gives a frown and stops in place, putting his hands on his hips. "Eh. Ain't nothin' completely destroyed, right? Lil' bit a' elbow grease, some good ol' fashioned tinkerin'-..." he gives a nod, looking the mech up and down, "....You'll have 'er back up an' runnin' in no time."
Ling pulls at some broken-down plating hanging on by a thread, moving it aside to look at some of the internal components. "I-I don't know... seems l-like s-s-s-some parts were to-torn out. G-g-going t-to b-be hard to r-replace."
Jasper gains an uncomfortable look. "O-..Oh! Yeah it prolly jus'-.... you know.... Lotsa critters down there tearin' at the thing-..." he mutters, "....Prolly made off with 'em. Fish like shiny things! Ya ever go fishin'?" he asks, quickly trying to change the subject from his and Nathan's scavenging of the mech's components.
Jasper's frown turns to a smile as he steps closer. "No? Ain't nothin' more relaxin' than sittin' out at the water on a warm day an' castin' out a line! You should give it a try sometime! Clears the head." He rests a hand against the Triton, leaning up against it, "Though, I suspect my days of fishin' are behind me after this trip." he sighs, but gives a brief chuckle as he shakes his head, "I ain't lookin' forward to goin' near
Jasper frowns slightly and gives a shake of his head. "I don't rightly know. Everything seemed ta' be goin' fine. Then, alla sudden, seemed like the whole ocean wanted ta' gobble us up! Was a scramble back to the surface. We were lucky ta' make it back, truth be told...."
Ling shivers faintly, an unsettled frown forming on her face. "I-I d-d-don't like t-the wat-... water. C-Can't swim. W-W-What w-... w-was down there...?"
Jasper continues to lean against the large, busted mech as he tells details his experience. "Well, ta' be honest, lotsa the stuff down there was reeeeeal purdy. We snapped a whole booty-load of pictures. But it wasn't all nice. Like I said, alla sudden we were jus' swarmed!" he steps away from the mech, extending each arm far out to his sides, "Crazy ol' eel-thingies, large as you-wouldn't-believe come dartin'
this-a-way-an'-that!" he continues, dodging his head left and right as if playing the part of the eels, "Woulda got ol' Jasper, too, if it hadn't a' been fer this big ol' whale that came and pulled my stones outta the fire!"
Ling listens with fascination, looking a bit unsettled still. By the end she seems surprised. "A-a-a whale...? W-Wow... t-t-that's in-incredible." She turns to go back to her repairs, but changes her mind and turns around again, standing up and then sitting down on the mech's arm. "C-Can I-I-I see the p-pictures...?" she asks with a curious smile.
Nathan steps out of the elevator, glancing around the deck. He spots Ling and Jasper and wanders towards them, raising a hand in greeting.
Jasper removes his omni-tool and begins tapping at it. "Oh, hey Ten!" he greets, "Was jus' tellin' my friend here 'bout our lil' fishin' trip. Was 'bout to show her some a' the photos I took."
Nathan smiles to the pair, nodding to Ling. "Heya Ling. How's your face?" He asks with a knowing look. He then looks to Jasper and dramatically shudders. "Eugh... never going to be able to look at sushi the same way again."
Ling laughs quietly, her smile remaining. "F-F-Fine." she manages before turning back to Jasper, hoping to see some pictures.
Jasper continues to poke at his omni-tool, giving a quick chuckle at Nathan's words. "You an' me both." he agrees. He scoots over to sit beside Ling and waves Nathan over to join them as the photo of the whale comes up on the interface. He looks towards Ling with a grin. "This is the big ol' beaut' that saved my caboose."
Nathan walks on over to peer over Jasper's shoulder. He smirks and nods to the photo. "Blubberguts to the rescue, eh?" He muses.
Ling studies the picture of the whale with a fascinated look on her face. "T-T-That's am-amazing... i-i-it saved y-you?"
Jasper returns to studying the photo. "Yap..." he says, "...Kept the eels offa me. I wouldn't be here right now havin' this chit-chat with you if it hadn't been for ol' girl."
Ling continues to look at the picture for a while, admiring the creature. She glances between Nathan and Jasper and points over her shoulder at the mech. "M-Must have b-been f-f-f-... f-... f-f-..." She lets out a frustrated sigh. "...scary being at-t-t-ttacked by t-those... eels...? T-T-They d-did a lot of-f-f damage t-t-to the T-T-T-Triton."
Nathan grimaces and looks at the mech, offering the engineer a sheepish smile with a faint blush. "Yeeeeah... nasty buggers. Kept ripping bits and pieces off of me. There were quite a few," he says, stretching the truth quite a bit. "Sorry about the... mech."
Jasper gives a long whistle. "Quite a few don't even begin ta' describe it. Them suckers were all over us. Was a feedin' frenzy down there." he says as he swipes to the next photo, the a wide shot of the swarm of bioluminescebt creatures. "Lookit this one." he says with a glance between Nathan and Ling, "B-youtiful."
Nathan chuckles and looks back to Jasper and his photographs. "Damn right, Jasper. They were something else," he admits. "Apart from the eels, it was times like those that I became a wanderer of this galaxy. Now... it's time to move forwards onto a new adventure!" He grins and makes to clap Jasper on the shoulder. "And that'll be trying to convince the Chief to let
Jasper gives a snicker as he's clapped on the shoulder. "Careful, Ten. That jus' might be more dangerous than the eels." He pulls the omni-tool further to his side to give Ling a good look at the photo.
Ling leans forward to take a closer look at the picture, eyes moving from creature to creature. "W-Wow... t-t-those are b-b-beautiful..."
