#ResearchCamp – April 17, 2016

Uvena was making close patrols around the base when she picks up shouting over the comms. "Ten, is that you?" she asks over comms before running towards the hole. She stops about ten meters away from the hole, not wanting to be too close when the diving mechs emerge.

Nathan is flung about, smacking his head hard against the control panel. He slumps down and doesn't move. The notion disconnects his suit from the mech.

Nathan is much unconcious.

Uvena is paralyzed by fear as she watches the mech and debris come flying out of the hole, her eyes tracing the mechs' flight. Once it comes to a stop, she sprints over to the mech, looking for Nathan. "Ten!" she shouts when she's close. "Ten!" she shouts even louder upon not receiving a response. She looks him over to see if there's a way to safely pull him out of there.

Nathan is slumped against the viewport. There is no notion he is alive due to his armour covering the gentle rise and fall of his chest. His helmet muffles any hope of hearing him breathe.

Uvena did pull the release, and upon seeing it not do anything, she looks around for anyone that might be able to help. "Te-... the mech pilot is unconcious," she says over comms, the panic and worry clear in her voice, "and I can't open the canopy. Can anyone help me?"

Nathan is still down for the count.

Bort and Linora comes rushing over to the emerged Triton. Bort leans down to get a look at the situation while Linora looks to Uvena. "What happened?!"

Uvena looks up at Linora. "He came flying out of the hole," she says, still sounding worried and panicked about this. "Something must have gone very wrong during his ascent. The only words I heard on the comms was swearing, and a warning for us to stay clear of the hole."

Linora nods to herself and considers the situation for a couple of seconds before raising her palms towards the mech. "We need to roll it over to the side." she says with a glance to Uvena as she starts to build up biotic energy.

Uvena gives a quick nod and moves to push the mech to the side, but she doesn't have telekinetic biotic abilities that can do much to an object of this size and weight.

Linora forms a biotic field that pushes at the Triton, straining as she tries to at least roll it over enough to open the hatch. Together they manage to lean it partly to the side, and the hatch opens with a hiss as the release has already been pulled. Bort rushes in and grabs Nathan by the arm, pulling him out just before the mech collapses back onto the ice.

Uvena gasps at seeing him barely avoid getting crushed by the mech, and then hurries over to his side. "Ten?" she asks. "Can you hear me?"

Nathan does not respond. In fact, his breathing is becoming more ragged. His suit's power has been drained. Half his face is sunken into the snow.

Bort turns Nathan around and puts a hand under each of his arms and begins dragging him towards the airlock.

Nathan is dragged, leaving a trail in the snow.

Uvena runs ahead to prepare the airlock for their entrance, looking over at the vorcha. "Hurry up!" she shouts.

Linora moves along Bort as Nathan is dragged all the way up to the airlock. The doors slide open thanks to Uvena's preparation and the whole group steps inside. The airlock starts to cycle.

Nathan is still very much unconscious.

Uvena looks at the door to the inside, waiting not so patiently for the pressurization cycle to be over. "Come on," she mutters.

Nathan stirs ever so slightly, but that is the most movement he has offered to the group.

Bort drags Nathan inside once the inner airlock door opens, laying him down on the floor. Linora immediately kneels beside the human and performs a scan - although she can't connect to his armor since it is still offline. She reaches down and detatches his helmet, pulling it off while holding a hand underneath to make sure his head doesn't bump against the floor.

Nathan groans lightly as his helmet is pulled off. His forehead has a gash against it and blood is trickling down his face.

Uvena crouches down beside him, looking down at him. "How is he?" she asks with a glance up at Linora.

Linora looks over at Uvena and shakes her head. "I-... I do not know, his suits biometrics are not responding. I think it needs a new power cell!" She gestures at the environment suits hanging nearby.

Nathan would certainly agree that his suit needs a power cell. Were he awake. Instead, he lays there, head bloodied.

Uvena nods, and gets up. She hurries over to the nearest suit, and starts checking it over for where to find the power cell.

Uvena opens the panel and takes out to power cell. She hurries back to Ten's side, and hands it over to Linora.

Linora grabs the power cell, rolling Nathan over with a mumbled apology. She looks around the back until she locates the power cell panel, opening it manually and replacing the drained cell. Some of his suit functions now return - biometrics, life support, medical systems and mag boots. HUD, omni-tool, eezo core and other things remain offline. She immediately runs a scan to check for injuries.

Nathan seems to regain some semblance of consciousness. "Wha-?" he mumbles into the floor. His injuries at surprisingly minimal. He does have a slight concussion. "Wha' happened?"

Uvena begins turning him over once she hears him speak, and she's most likely smiling. "I thought you would know," she says. "I heard you shouting into the comms, telling us to get clear, and then you came flying out of the drill hole."

Nathan blinks slowly. "Who're... who?" He asks before shaking his head softly. "Uvena? Huh... I... big fish. Big angry fish...". His eyes suddenly dart open and he struggles to get upright. "T-the others! I got to help them!"

Linora places a hand on Nathan's chest, holding him down. "Your mech is not operational. Tell us of the situation, please."

Nathan stays down, groaning. "I was attacked... hostile creatures. Big... angry. They fucked up my mech and I think Harmonia and Jasper were being attacked too. Don't know about Nalota... I think a crab was screwing her mech or something?"

Uvena unseals and takes off her helmet while the others speak. "We haven't heard anything from the others," she says.

Linora looks down at Nathan with a concerned look. "What? Hostile wildlife? You left the others?"

Nathan groans. "I was ordered too... If I stayed, I'd be dead... my thrusters were damaged," he gasps. "...Fix my mech! I-I need to help them! I can't leave them alone. I need to help Jasper," he says, concern for his friend and his charges overwhelming his common sense.

Uvena shakes her head. "That's not possible," she says. "You can't fix that mech. You even said yourself that it was leaking in water."

Nathan sighs and sinks back onto the ground. "FUCK!" He shouts. He lays there, defeated.

Bort looks concerned, staring at the airlock. "Have to help! No more mechs?"

Linora shakes her head. "No, we sent all of them down..." she says with a worried frown.

Uvena sits down on the floor beside him. "They went out to check on another missing drone," she says. "I haven't heard from them in a while, though."

Nathan manages to drag himself upright, shifting so that he can use her for support. "...Crap... help me get my suit back and running... I'm not out of this fight yet."

Linora swallows her concern and looks back to Nathan. "I am confident they are fine. The harsh weather is interferring with communications."

Nathan grunts as he pulls himself to his feet. "Yeah, but I ain't going to leave Uvena to guard the camp on her own."

Uvena stands up, as well. "Tarkus and Korio are still here," she says. "You are not going back out there, Ten."

Nathan uses Uvena as support, frowning. "But...".

Uvena takes out a medi-gel canister from her armor, and gestures towards the kitchen. "You're bleeding," she says. "Let's go get you patched up, and then we'll look at your suit."

Nathan sighs and nods, walking towards the kitchen reluctantly.

Uvena walks beside him. "I... stood by that hole for hours," she admits, not saying anything more at the moment.

Nathan plonks himself down onto a chair once in the kitchen. He looks up to her, surprise etched on his features. "Really? Why?" He asks with a curious tilt to his head.

Linora nods in agreement with Uvena, and follows for a bit. "Do you have this under control? I would like to get back out and-..." She stops as a loud impact is heard outside, and runs immediately for the airlock. "Hello? What is happening?"

Harmonia flies out of the ice shaft, her mech landing on its legs nearby, a loud noise at the impact with the ice. Water drips off the mech as she turns it around to look back at the hole, as if hoping to see Nalota and Jasper emerging behind her.

Uvena shakes her head. "I was worried for you," she says. "I don't completely understand it-..." She looks towards the airlock upon hearing the sound outside. "What happened?" she asks over local comms.

Nathan opens his mouth to reply, but looks to the airlock. "They're back?" He asks hopefully.

Nathan sighs. "...I hope they're all alright... even Harmonia."

Linora steps out as the airlock opens, and lets out a relieved sigh at the sight of the mech.

Harmonia opens the hatch to her Triton and climbs out. She immediately turns her gaze back to the hole again.

Nalota lands the mech with a loud thump, and she manages to keep it upright after taking a step forward. Once she hears Jasper over the comms, she walks about five steps to get clear of the hole.

Uvena smiles. "Sounds like they're all out soon," she says.

Nathan breathes a sigh of relief. He practically falls into her, the last ounce of energy he had stored spent. "Thank God...".

Jasper lands his mech with a loud thud. He gets another step or two in before the entire thing falls onto its side. "I'm gon' need ya'll ta keep yer distance..." he announces breathlessly, "...Got ourselves a biohazard situation over here. My shorts are definitely a danger zone, folks." he says, making no attempt at lifting his mech back up.

Uvena shifts closer to the chair so that he won't fall on the floor. "Jasper just got out," she says. "They're all safe." She starts removing the armor on her hands and forearms.

Nathan chuckles quietly, resting his head on her shoulder. "...Awesome. I would've killed him if he died," he says quietly.

Linora runs up to the assembled mechs looking very relieved. "Thank the Goddess!" she exclaims loudly as she jogs up to Nalota's Triton.

Harmonia actually lets out a chuckle as she sees Jasper and Nalota's mechs, a smile spreading across her face. "Excellent work, team." she states.

Jasper opens the hatch of his mech and crawls out of it. He begins to stand up before tumbling forward on his hands and knees. "No, no. I'm fine. Don't everybody come runnin' to my aid at once." he says before standing back up. "Whoooooooooo, buddy. I ain't goin' back down there. Jus' goin' on record. Not doin' it. Ain't gonna happen." His head swings from side to side as he looks around, upon spotting Nathan's wrecked mech,

Nathan can't respond as his helmet is still on the floor in the airlock. 'Sides, he's way too drained to talk.

Nalota opens the canopy and hops out of the mech. She looks around in disblief at being up on the surface, and tears tricke down her cheek. She doesn't say a word to the research lead.

Harmonia activates her comms. "Tennhausen!" she barks. "Report!"

Uvena enables her comms. "Ten is with me," she replies. "He's alive, but injured, and his armor suit took some damage."

Linora places a hand on Nalota's shoulder, offering the young asari a reassuring smile. "You are safe, young one. You are safe. Do you need medical attention?"

Nalota shakes her head. "The... others do," she mutters.

Linora nods and starts off at a brisk pace towards Jasper. "Are you alright, human? Do you need help?" She says.

Harmonia turns to Jasper. "Alie, but injured. I think he's inside."

Jasper gives a sigh of relief as Harmonia updates him on Nathan's condition. He waves off Linora, stumbling towards the airlock. "I'll be fine. Jus' need to get out of this suit an'-... I'unno, drop some coal off at the mine."

Linora blinks, looking around in confusion. "I-.. I am sorry...? There are no mines on this-... is this a human saying?"

Jasper slaps a hand against the airlock interface. "I gotta poop, sister." he says flatly, exhausted over everything that has transpired, "Unfortunately only 'bout half as bad as I had ta' poop twenty minutes ago."

Linora furrows her eyebrows, considering the statement for a moment before blinking again and walking away without another word, heading towards Harmonia.

Nalota is still only halfway to the airlock, looking at the ground.

Nathan groans quietly.
