#Deck4 – April 2, 2016
In the cargo hold of the ship, crates have been moved around, and a few opened, with Spencer's blessing, a couple of matresses and hard crates making for two makeshift couches, facing the closed cargo ramp. A projector has been rigged in one of the Tritons, which as been parked behind the crates, beaming a holographic screen with surprisingly decent quality. Vanessa and Yan Sun have done most of the technical work, while a couple of people
from Redrock, notably Uvena, have helped with the moving of things. Now everyone interested has been called down to the hold for 'Expedition Personnel bonding activities', as put by the Chief Engineer.
Nathan is already down there and hoarding a selection of goodies that he had brought with him. Some chocolate, a couple of bags of crisps and a bottle of pop. What can he say, the man loves his sweets and savories.
Jason is seated at the couch beside Nathan. "Come on, pass some my way." he says, hand extended as he gestures for the chips.
Nathan looks at Jason, eyes narrowing. "...you're lucky I like you," he says before forking over some salted crisps.
Jasper steps off of the elevator wearing his coveralls, but zipped down to the midsection with the arms tied around his waist like a makeshift belt. From the waist up, he's wearing a light grey shirt. "Oooh, looks like they're just 'bout done." he says to whoever was on the elevator with him.
Jason reaches over, grabbing a handful of chips from the bag. "Don't happen to have a few beers tucked away somewhere, do you?" he jokes, big smirk on his lips as he waits for everyone to get settled.
Artullin steps off with Jasper. He's dressed in his armour. Surprisingly. "You just timed it so you didn't have to help," he says.
Athassa steps off the elevator alongside Jasper, nodding. "Yes! This will be great! Are we watching a human movie?" She's wearing a t-shirt with the print for Star Wars: Episode XIX, and her usual pants.
Robyn steps off of the elevator with Jasper and the others. She's holding a large tray of small, bite-sized sandwiches and dressed in her work clothes as she came right down after cleaning up the cafetaria and kitchen after dinner. "Where should I put these?" she asks, calling out to Vanessa and Yan Sun who seem to be running things.
Nathan sees Athassa and waves her over. Having hopefully spent most of the night enjoying a talk with her about Earth, he would of considered her one of the few others on this expedition that he would enjoy talking to.
Jasper frowns and shakes his head, adamantly refusing the turian's accusation. "Not true. Jus' a bit of lucky timin'." he says, his frown replaced by a goofy grin.
Vanessa , who is standing near the mech wavesa the new arrivals and gestures towards a low crate between the two 'couches'. "Somewhere over there should be fine, Robyn!" she says with a smile.
Yan Sun is currently sitting halfway in the Triton's pilot cabin, one leg dangling off the mech as she fine-tunes the projector they rigged up.
Robyn returns the smile with one of her own as she moves to the indicated crate and lays the tray across it. "Alright~ Help yourselves. I'll be right back. I've got another tray on the way, along with something for the turian's among us." she says, skipping off to retrieve the next tray.
Uvena walks over the couch where Jason is, taking a seat beside him. "Beer? Where?" she jokes. She notices Robyn and gives her a wave and a smile.
Jason gives a quick glance to Nathan and shoves the handful of chips into his mouth before practically leaping out of his seat and securing a small stack of finger sandwiches. As Uvena makes her arrival, he gives a nod over to Nathan while retaking his seat. "Well, shit, this guy seems to have smuggled his own vending machine in his crack, figured it was worth asking."
Jasper approaches the mech, reaching up and resting a hand against it. "Ya need a hand in there?" he asks as he watches Yan Sun work.
Nathan reaches across to snatch a sandwich from Jason. "You should see what I've got store between the ears," he says back, before lowering his voice. "The answer is nothing~"
Yan Sun glances down at Jasper and shakes her head. "I'm good! Just adjusting the holoprojector, not going to try and drive the thing..."
Athassa waves to Nathan with a smile, heading over and sitting down next to him. "Hello! Do you know what we are watching?"
Tarkus is standing near the group, waiting to see what is going to be played. He just hope it was not some stupid love story film.
Vanessa heads over to the couches after checking in with Yan Sun, climbing over the back and into the currently empty one, sitting near the middle edge. She reaches over with her left hand and grabs a sandwich. "Mmm... nice!" she says as she settles in, and then immediately hops back up. She goes over to the edge of the hold and drags over a small crate, returning to her seat and placing her feet on top of it. "Aaand better!"
Athassa chuckles. "No, I would not expect it to be. The Return of the Old Empire's Avenger will always be my favorite though!"
Nathan nods. "I've always been a fan of the classics. The technology of the 20th century was just so... bad, it was good!"
Jason gives a nod to Uvena. He leans forward to lean past Nathan and address Athassa's question. "Oooh, it's a goodie!" he says, "Headkick 6: The Kickening! So many heads are kicked! It's gonna rock your world!"
Nathan looks back at Jason, blinking. "You're kidding, right? Everything after the forth one was garbage!"
Vanessa shoots a skeptical glance in Jason's direction. "What in the hell is that and why have I never heard of it?"
Jason frowns and gives Nathan the finger. "You shut your mouth! And I wouldn't let Ilyna hear you talking that way! Her boyfriend is going to be headlining the next one!" He glances back towards Vanessa, his frown deepening. "Are you serious!? How in the hell have you never heard of Headkick!? Were you born under a rock?"
Yan Sun 's arm implants pulse as she ups the power supply to the projector. She chuckles quietly to herself at the discussion going on below her.
Jason glares at Tarkus. "Blas-... Blasto!?" He glances back at Nathan, "You hear this guy? BLASTO! That's the sort of movie fans I'm sharing a dirty mattress with?" He returns his gaze to Tarkus and gives a shake of his head, "Watch and weep, my friend. Prepare to be in awe."
Uvena raises an eyebrow. "I've never heard about it," she says, "but it was my suggestion that you put on a vid, so I'm not going to argue."
Vanessa snickers. "C'mon! What's better than some hard-boiled spy action? I'm gonna guess from the title this movie is just a bunch of heads being kicked... that about cover it?"
Jasper removes himself from the mech and takes a position behind the 'couch'. "Oh, it's popular alright. Popular trash. What's so interestin' 'bout a guy kickin' a whole lotta heads? Why couldn't ya put on somethin' classy? Like that one movie-..." he begins, snapping his fingers as he tries to recollect the vid, "....You know! With the guy! He does that thing and everything goes wrong? Good lookin' feller. Always wearin' the
"I have seen this headkick. What is the point of kicking someone in the head?" He states "Why not just watch a fight between two martial artists?"
Nathan furrows his brow at Jason. "You aren't getting any support from me after such a disrespectful action! Good day to you, sir!"
Jason looks taken aback. "Are you-...? You're a Blasto fan, too!?" he asks, staring at Nathan as though a great offense has been committed. "Et tu, Ten?"
Vanessa looks over her shoulder at Tarkus. "Oh come on grumpy-turian-whatever-your-name-is. I'm skeptical too, but let's give it a chance. Take a seat." She waves the turian over towards the couch.
No, but you immediately slammed on me for disliking Five and Six! Which, may I remind you, scored horrendously on Critical Pyjack!
Psh, Critical Pyjack? You're gonna listen to a bunch of nerds that get their jollies from pissing off real fans by downvoting a solid vid to hell? Five and Six are both solid entries. They kicked more heads in six than in one and two combined.
"Why don't we watch the last MMA pay-per view. Had one of the greatest championship matches I have ever seen. Plus that should fill your need to see head kicks, Wolfe."
Nathan splutters. "It's not all about the headkicking! More headkicking does not make up for the appalling lack of story in Five and Six. I mean, Christ, even Four performed better than the rubbish you call Five and Six."
Athassa listens to the back-and-forth, quite fascinated by the discussion of what is no doubt the pinnacle of human cinematography.
Uvena looks over at the turian. "Pay-per-view?" she says. "That sounds like something we'd need an extranet connection for."
Jason points at Tarkus. "I like where your heads at, bud. But-..." he nods at Uvena, "We've been out of comms range for two days now. I know it's hard to tell when nobody ever sends you messages anyway-..." he teases, smirking at the turian for effect, "...But yeah. Sorry. No extranet." He returns his attention to Nathan, eager to get back into the fight, "You're arguing about story in a movie
called fucking Headkick." He puts his hands up, palms outward, with a smug look on his face. A true mic-drop moment. "Check and, or, mate."
Yan Sun rolls her eyes with a mildly amused look, remaining quiet as she looks down at the others from her position on the mech. After returning her attention to the projector for a while she seems satisfied. "Alright, I'm ready to start it whenever. Anyone else say they're coming?"
"Actually, the last MMA pay-per-view I recorded." He states to the asari. "It had Canius Septinus vs Alexander Jones."
Spencer and Pablo come over from the other end of the cargo hold, joining the others by taking the most distant seats of the right-side couch. "Did I hear somethin' 'bout Headkick? I love those!"
Jason gives Nathan a wink then turns to wave Tarkus off dismissively. "You save that. You and I can give it a watch when we've got some downtime. Tonight is a night for one liners, crazy handlebar moustaches, and a whole lot of kicks to the head."
Jasper cocks his head to look towards Spencer and Pablo. "Ya'll like them vids, too...? Well, shit. S'pose I may as well give it a chance." he says, parking at the edge of the makeshift couch beside Athassa.
Jason studies Nathan for a moment, furrowing his brow. Eventually he nods as he attempts to picture it. Yeah-.... Yeah! I think you could rock it." he agrees.
Athassa seems like she was about to ask the question herself, but is content to listen to the response when Uvena does it for her.
Jason turns his attention to Uvena and goes blank for a moment as he tries to come up with a way to explain it. "It's-.... You know...." He purses his lips, making the classic duck lips, and runs his finger above them, "When you grow some hair right here.... And it comes all the way down here-..." he traces it out along the sides of his mouth, although the continued duck-lips are making his
Korio gives a quick chuckle as the doors slide open. "Indeed, it is." he says, making good on his statement and disappearing towards the couches.
September looks to Ilyna with a shrug. "Well, just you and me I guess! You're a mercenary, huh? Are you, like... a commando?"
Nathan rolls his eyes and looks to Athassa. He opens his omni-tool and quickly flicks through a selection of pictures before coming to one of a considerably younger Nathan stood next to a hulking mass of a man with a blonde handlebar mustache. "Like that," he says to her, showing her the picture before leaning across to show Uvena. "My dad had one. Drove my mum
Yan Sun sighs as no one answers her, but takes a look at the elevator as it decends. "I guess that's everyone...? Is sandwich girl coming back?"
Jasper is paying attention to Yan Sun. "Said she'd be right back." he says with a nod, "So I s'pose so."
Athassa nods, fascinated by the facial hair. "Interesting... humans have such marvelous potential for sculpting of the facial appearance. Amazing, really. Makes one a bit jealous sometimes."
Korio takes a seat without any fanfare as he takes the spot beside Vanessa. He passes a polite nod her way.
Uvena smiles at Jason's explanation, and nods, even though it didn't make much sense to her. "Oh," she says. "Did he end up shaving it?"
Nathan looks at Athassa and winks at her. "You would look awesome with one," he assures her before looking to Uvena. "Yeah. I think he got tired of mum's complaining."
Ilyna shakes her head. "No," she says. "I did serve in the military, but I wasn't selected for advanced training like that." She then steps out of the elevator, surveying the room for free seats.
September nods, following alongside the asari. "Oh... that's a bummer. But still, you live, like, forever, right? You have time to do pretty much whatever you want in your life!"
Robyn emerges from the elevator opposite of Ilyna, September and Korio, their elevator having already left when she returned, with a tray in hand. More tiny sandwiches are arranged on it. She seems to have enlisted some help, as Jessica is in tow with a tray of her own, looking as happy as can be. 'Happy as can be' of course meaning like she might stab Robyn in the neck tonight for making her do this. The pair move over to
the crate to set the trays down and Robyn hands out the two bowls and glasses on Jessica's tray to Tarkus and Artullin. It's very clearly just leftover porridge from the first day of the trip and some more fruit juice. She tilts her head apologetically. "Sorry... All we could spare."
Ilyna looks over at Jason, and frowns upon seeing him flanked by two other coworkers. "I'd sooner retire from this line of work, to be honest," she says, turning back to September. "I had my problems with the military, but I was fine with not being selected for that kind of training."
Yan Sun has her back turned to the second elevator, and so doesn't see the new arrivals at first. When Robyn starts handing out food she turns to look, seeming surprised when she notices Jessica, as she wasn't really expecting her to show at this point. She snickers at the look on her face and then turns her attention to the people in the couches. "Okay, we good to go?" she says, waving her omni-tool a little.
Jason waves Ilyna over, not particularly thinking about where she might sit. "Get over here, Ilyna! I'll sit on the floor!" he says. He gives Yan Sun a thumbs up.
Vanessa is about to greet Korio when her gaze falls on him and she almost jumps into Artullin. "Woah! Shit, sorry!" she says, offering an uneasy smile to the drell.
Korio blinks a few times and then tilts his head to the side, "I apologize. I didn't mean to startle you" he says.
Jessica stands awkwardly near the head of the room before finally spotting Yan Sun. She grabs a couple of mini-sandwiches and wades through the crowd toward her, looking relieved to not have to help Robyn anymore.
Tarkus remains standing, still waiting to be disappointed by the horrible choice of a film to watch. He does not let this show however.
Uvena glances at ther person Jason is waving to. "I can find different company," she says. "Nobody needs to sit on the floor."
Athassa consumes the chips with the same enthusiasm as any other exploration of human culture. "Mmh."
Jason frowns at Uvena. "Are you sure....? I don't want to run anyone off." he says apologetically, "She's just, you know, an old friend..."
Yan Sun nods to Jason and Nathan, and then presses a key on her omni-tool. A moment later the film starts to play on the projector screen. Seeming happy with herself, she swings her other leg out of the mech and starts to climb down. She gets partway before losing her grip and falling the rest of the way to the cargo hold floor. "Gah-... hngh..." She rolls over on her back and lets out a groan, staring up at the ceiling. "I'm okay..."
Uvena shrugs. "Yet you're willing to sit on the floor for her?" she says with a wink. "Yeah, I'm sure. I've-" She looks over at Yan, looking more than a little concerned.
The film begins as one would expect. Credits. Logos. Suddenly, a turian is shown as a camera pans back from his face. He's beaten and bloodied. As the camera pans, a human is in front of him with a bushy handlebar moustache. In an instant, the mustachiod man strikes out, kicking the turian in the head with absolutely no context. Time slows down and the camera follows the colorful blood that flies free from the turian's ears as it
September nods again, remaining by Ilyna's side. "I can get that. Not wanting to get shot at. Maybe settle down, start a family, right? Asari can do that with, like, any other species, right? Must be great."
Jason gives a glance at Uvena, furrowing his brow. "Wha-... Oh, no! She's like my sister!" he protests, but is suddenly captivated by the headkick displayed on screen. He stands straight up and raises his arms out over his head with a loud 'WHOOOOP', a mini-wich in each hand, "Right in the head!"
Jessica winces, leaping forward slightly as Yan Sun tumbles to the floor, but merely brings her free hand up to her mouth as she's too slow to do anything about it. Her concern quickly gives way to a smile and her shoulders rise and fall with laughter as she approaches the downed woman. She plops onto the floor beside Yan Sun and offers one of her sandwiches. "How is it possible that you haven't walked off a ledge, or into
Uvena chuckles, but she doesn't give a verbal answer. When Jason stands up, so does she, and she makes her way around the crate forming the arm rest without getting in anyone's way.
Vanessa shakes her head at Korio, still looking at him like he's gonna bite her at any moment. "No, I'm sorry! I just-... I have a thing about reptiles. I-... shit, is that offensive? I don't mean, y'know, you... I mean... animals... lizards and stuff." She winces a bit. "Ah crap, that's not any better, is it...?"
Korio suppresses his sigh, noticing a pattern among the crew of this ship. "No." he lies, "It's-... quite alright. Would you prefer if I sat elsewhere?"
Athassa rubs her hands together with glee, leaning back against the 'backrest' matress as she watches.
Ilyna nods. "I... may be making those kinds of plans soon, yes," she says, but she doesn't elaborate. While the question would hit her hard in the past, she now were given a chance whether she wanted to or not. She starts walking towards Jason, not having the heart to tell the other woman off after the drell disappeared on her.
Jasper points at the screen. "Ya see that?" he asks as he glances over at Athassa, "Now that's a load of crudmuffins. Blood ain't s'posed to move like that."
Jason reaches into Nathan's bag of chips and pulls one free. He turns and tosses it at Tarkus' head. "Shaddap and enjoy the vid!" he says with a grin.
Yan Sun remains on the floor for the time being, glancing briefly at Jessica before looking at the metal ceiling of the hangar. "I did once, when I was a kid... had to go to the hospital and everything." she says with a shrug. She accepts the sandwich and decides to sit up with another pained groan, rubbing her head. Seeing as she's facing the wrong way she turns around, crossing her legs once she's oriented towards the screen. The
grated floor is uncomfortable, and their view of the projection poor, but smiles faintly before biting in to the sandwich.
Tarkus leans his head back to dodge the chip. "Nah, think I am going to criticise it for the entire film."
September continues to go along with Ilyna. "That's great! I heard the species you mate with affects the personality of the baby! Is that true?"
Jessica lets out even more laughter at Yan Sun's quick little story, despite whether or not it was meant to be funny. "Hold on, kitty cat. You did what once? Walked off a ledge or into oncoming traffic?" She shuffles across the floor a bit to sit right beside the woman.
Ilyna frowns, being a bit uncomfortable at that question. "Maybe a little," she says, "but the father being there for the child's upbringing will affect them." She is now very close to the couch.
Vanessa lets out a sigh, looking both like she wants to run as far away as she can, and very much ashamed of that fact. "No, I-... I'm really sorry. Of... course not. I'm Vanessa." she says, forcing a smile. She seems like she's going to extend a hand towards Korio, but reconsiders and withdraws it at the last second.
The scene continues. The turian, apparently, brought great shame to the mustachiod man's family. A second headkick snaps off, jolting the turian's head back to the other side and sending him sprawling to the ground. The frame tightens on the turian's face as he wipes a bit of blood free from the corner of his mouth and stands back up, taking some sort of ridiculous power pose as the human does the same. Loud, threatening grunts from
Korio returns the smile, despite the discomfort he feels. "Korio." he responds, "This is an-... interesting choice of vid."
Yan Sun chuckles quietly at the movie, shaking her head to herself. "This is such a bad movie..." she mumbles quietly. Upon Jessica's question she shrugs awkwardly. "Uh... well... I guess it was kind of... both?" She bites her lip and then mutters: "I landed on a skycar...", refusing to look at her.
Jessica stares in disbelief that anyone could be so clumsy. Her laughter fills the air for the third time in as many exchanges. "You have to be the most accident-prone person I've ever met!" she exclaims. "How can you be soo clumsy?" she teases, grinning at the woman at her side.
September takes a seat some distance away from Jason, opting to keep her distance after their previous exchange. "I guess... hey, is it still called father if it's a woman?"
Vanessa decides to turn her gaze to the movie, and it doesn't take long for her to start to seem more comfortable. "Heh, yeah, that's... one way to put it."
Spencer looks down to Vanessa. "Don't you go talkin' shit about this masterpiece! Did you see that guy get his head kicked?!"
Ilyna chuckles, and nods, "Yes." While those terms didn't carry any gendered meaning to her, she does have experience discussing this very topic with humans.
Yan Sun turns her gaze to Jessica, an embarassed look on her face. "Wha-... it's not that bad! Really! I just... get distracted, is all."
Jason points at the screen as he gazes at Tarkus, nodding a few times. "You see this!? You watching? That's you and me later!" he says. As Ilyna takes a seat at his side, he greets her with a smile. "You see that?" he asks excitedly, "That was a headkick!"
Korio leans back in his seat as he spots September sitting on the couch across the way, disappearing into the shadows. "Is this the only vid they will be showing today...?"
Ilyna looks at the screen again, tilting her head. "That... does look like a kick to the head," she agrees.
Tarkus lets out a sigh "You would not even get that close to me, Wolfe. All of those kicks can be reversed into an ankle hold."
Jessica eats her sandwich as Yan Sun speaks, glancing over at her once she stops speaking. "Well now it makes sense how you just tumbled right to the floor. I know how hot and bothered you get when you see me. It is to be expected. All is forgiven." She nudges Yan Sun playfully in the side with her elbow.
Uvena folds her arms, looking over at the screen to observe the shining example of human creativity.
You might be right, Tarkus. Hard to get close to you when you're being carted off on whatever ship has managed to kidnap you this time.
Vanessa shrugs. "Not sure. I just helped with the setup, that doofus over there is responsible for the vids, so..." She points a thumb towards Jason with a small grin.
Korio glances in the indicated direction before sitting back. "Ah. My boss. In that case, it's an excellent choice." he jokes.
Spencer lets out a laugh and pats Korio's shoulder. "Lil' brown nosin' never hurt no one. Unless it's literal. Then it probably has..."
Korio cocks his head towards Spencer in slight confusion. "I believe my nose is a shade of green that humans commonly refer to as-... Celadon." he informs before returning his gaze to the vid.
Jason winces as Ilyna calls out his overexcited teasing. "He knows I'm just kidding." he says, seeming to calm somewhat. He looks apologetically towards Tarkus, repeating himself for the turian to hear, "You-... uhh... know I'm just fucking around, right?"
Yan Sun blushes from Jessica's comment, quickly turning her head back to the movie with an incoherent mumble.
September looks to Ilyna, and then glances past her at Jason briefly. "So is that who you're... making those plans with?" she says with a wink to the asari.
Jessica sprawls out, extending her legs straight out in front of her and reaching back, propping herself up on the palms of her hands. Her mischievous grin returns. A few silent moments pass before she says idly: "He.... He really kicked that turian in the head...."
Spencer starts laughing louder, clearly finding the combination of his tone and cluelessness very amusing. He gives him another pat and shakes his head as he settles down. "You crack me up, Green." he says before returning his attention to the movie. "Ouf! That one's gonna hurt in the mornin'!"
Robyn is sitting at the edge of the couch Spencer and Korio are on, watching the vid with a nearly blank expression on her face and wincing everytime a head is kicked.
Yan Sun furrows her eyebrows. "Oh... that was a turian? Between the blood splatter and the bowl of chips in the way I couldn't really tell..."
Ilyna raises her brows at the question, her cheeks going a bit purple as well. "No," she says. That's not entirely true, but her answering yes would not exactly be true either given the context she's asking in.
Uvena walks over to the crate between the couches, picking out two small sandwiches. She gives Robyn an apologetic look, but doesn't say anything.
Jessica gives a low chuckle as she lays back and rolls onto her side, propping her head up with her elbow. From their seat on the floor, there's little use in trying to keep up with the movie anyway. "So, tell me. Where will you go once we've returned from this expedition?" she asks, "What is the next great adventure that the kitty cat is to embark on?"
The fight continues for far longer than it has any right to when, suddenly, a bunch of asari ninjas descend from the rooftops around the mustachiod human and turian. Before long, they're back to back kicking asari ninjas in the head with ruthless conviction.
September nods. "Uh-huh, riiight." she says, before settling back in her seat. "This is one weird movie, huh?" she says, not content to watch the movie in silence.
Jason has both hands up, index fingers to thumbs, creating a small box out of his fingers that he's lining up over Ilyna's eyes, presumably to see how she'd look as a ninja.
Korio looks to be getting more and more confused the longer the movie continues. But he watches in silence, happy to merely be surrounded by such a jovial atmosphere.
Jasper points to the screen once again, looking towards Athassa. "Yer' people ain't even got ninjas, dernit, do they!?" he says, looking for every opportunity to critisize the film, "This is perposterous!"
Ilyna was hoping seeing more of it would make her recognize the vid, since she didn't exactly cacth the title of it, but she resigns to not knowing for now. She looks over at Jason with a raised eyebrow. "What... are you doing, Jason?"
Jason gives a lopsided grin. "Just making sure you're not a secret ninja." he jokes, a chuckle escaping him as he lowers his hands. He sits back in his seat and nods towards the screen, "You heard your boyfriend is gonna be in the next one, right?"
Yan Sun glances down at Jessica, and after another look at the movie she unfolds her legs, turning slightly towards her, her legs pulling in close and arms wrapping around them. She rests her head on its side against her knees, facing Jessica. "I... I don't know, I guess. I've just been... going where I've felt like." she says with a small shrug. A timid, slightly embarassed smile tugs at the corner of her mouth every time she's
Ilyna looks confused for a second, but she does realize who he's talking about. "I don't know who you're talking about," she says with a nudge to his side.
Jessica looks up at Yan Sun from the floor, giving a nod of approval. "Sounds like a good life. Going where you please. Seeing what you want." She chuckles softly, "I envy you."
Jason wiggles his eyebrows at the asari. "Uh huh. Right. Suuuuure you don't. Leading man, Mr. Devin Tanner!" He returns the nudge with one of his own.
Robyn's mouth opens wordlessly as September's voice carries over the movie. "I knew it was you!" she says, pointing at Ilyna, "You were in one of my magazines! Is it true you two adopted a child!?"
Vanessa follows Robyn's gaze towards Ilyna. "Say what now, Robyn? She's in your gossip mags?" She's quite clearly barely containing a laugh.
Spencer looks down the couch towards the others, seeming a little annoyed. "Keep it down y'all! You're missin' the movie!"
The turian is currently roaring to the heavens as he benchpresses an asari ninja way up over his head before dropping her into a backbreaker in the most ridiculous fashion.
Ilyna keeps her eyes at the movie, her cheeks pretty much burning. "I... I was on a job guarding him," she says, although her voice might be hard to hear on the other couch. "Everything else the press has said is wrong."
Jason nods in agreement with Ilyna, but gives the others a wink. "You tell 'em, Ilyna." he says, "Your personal life with-..." he glances around, putting his hands up as if playing both sides, "...or without Devin Tanner is your business and yours alone." He seems to be getting a kick out of the interest they're showing in Ilyna's nonexistent relationship with Tanner.
Jason lets out another bout of laughter as he pats the asari on the shoulder and returns to watching the movie.
Yan Sun shrugs. "Yeah, it's... been nice, I guess. Seeing something new. Took this job when my credits ran out... not sure where I'll go after w-..." she lifts her head to listen to the commotion of the others, and shakes her head with a small smirk before returning her attention to Jessica.
Jessica nods slowly. "This is my first time I've left Aite since my parents brought me there." she reconfirms with a sigh, "I can't help but feel a little... overwhelmed? Some of these people-..." she gestures towards the couches, "...act as if this is just another day for them. Truthfully, I've never felt as small as I do when I look out that window. It's-... scary." she admits in a rare lapse of honesty, "...But maybe also
a little comforting. Makes everything I seen back home, everything I experienced seem so trivial in comparison." She gives an embarassed chuckle and shakes her head, "I'm sorry, I'm rambling."
Ilyna gives a loud sigh. "Maybe later," she says, hoping that it'll be forgotten if she puts it off.
Jason pats Ilyna on the shoulder playfully before reaching for another handful of chips from Nathan and shoveling them into his mouth.
Yan Sun smiles warmly as she looks down at Jessica. "I get it. Like I said, I'm still pretty new to all this myself... sure, I've read a lot on the extranet, but actually seeing a crazy place like the Citadel in-person, meeting all sorts of aliens... browsing the net hasn't prepared me for that, not really."
Jessica stops propping her head up and just extends her arm out above her, laying her head across it. "Mmhmm." she agrees. "It is a good experience. One I'm glad to be a part of." she says softly.
Yan Sun studies Jessica in silence, a small smile remaining as her eyes travel idly along her body as she lies across the floor. As her gaze returns to her face, she looks into her eyes. "Well, I'm-..." she jumps slightly at a particularly loud ninja scream, her gaze turning back to the screen for a moment.
Jessica chuckles once again at Yan Sun's awkward nature. The sound of the film doesn't seem to bother her. "Oh, I'm sorry. Don't let me keep you from this wonderful film." she teases, pouting playfully as Yan Sun's attention is pulled away from her.
Yan Sun winces as a big splash of purple blood hits the lens, and turns her attention back to Jessica. "Yeah, it's... a real masterpiece." she says with a smirk. After looking at her for a moment in silence she suddenly decides to lie down as well, stretching out her legs and leaning back. She's once again staring up at the ceiling. With a faint grunt she rolls over to her side, and tries to find a bearable way to lie, trying propping
