Bartholomew is sitting in his office, having asked for Jason to come visit, as they needed to talk about something. He waits patiently, hands folded on his desk.

Linora has told Ilyna and Jason that she is fine with taking a moment to discuss the expedition, and that they can come to the labs when they want to talk.

Jason arrives outside of Volkoff's office, having told Ilyna to go meet with Linora without him and he'd join in after seeing what Bartholomew needed to speak to him about. He taps the interface to buzz the door and awaits a reply.

Bartholomew greets Jason as the door slides open. "Come in, Mr. Wolfe. Have a seat." he gestures at the chair opposite to his own position at the desk.

Nathan is stood glaring at the armoury door, tapping his foot impatiently. "Damnnnn iiiitttt, come on, Victoria! Let me innnnnnn! I need to take care of my weapons. They need some TLC!"

(Corridor) Weapon condition is unlikely to have changed since they were deposited.

Ilyna arrives at the laboratory after having checked if Jason were joining her. She pushes the 'doorbell' button. The asari is wearing a black t-shirt and simple gray pants.

Aha! You said unlikely! So there is still a small chance that it has! That's reason enough to let me in.

Nathan points victoriously up at the ceiling.

Jason steps into the office and takes the indicated seat. As usual, he's in a pair of fatigues, boots, and a white tshirt. He has a lot of pairs of black fatigues and generic white tshirts. Really. It's not the same ones. He changes. "Came down as soon as I got the chance, Chief Volkoff." he informs, glancing about the room, "What'd you need to talk to me about?"

Linora is in the middle of a conversation with Rala as the door opens. She excuses herself and turns to face Ilyna. "I understand you wanted a word about the expedition?" she asks with a polite smile, gesturing towards a small office overlooking the main lab. The lab itself has several long counters filled with a variety of obscure equipment, while the office is a small room with a desk facing a window that overlooks the lab, as

well as a single chair. The professor remains standing after she's entered the room, looking at the fellow asari expectantly. "Yes?"

Ahhh, the silent treatment, eh? Well, two can play at that game!

Nathan folds his arms across his chest and stares defiantly at the door.

Ilyna nods and steps inside. "Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you," she says with a small smile. "Yeah, I wanted to talk with you about that." She looks around the laboratory, but she fails to recognize any of the equipment.

Nathan glares at the door... then finally relents. "Fine! I'll go!" He turns and storms away towards the elevator, grumbling as he goes. "...stupid VI." He thumbs the interface and waits for the elevator to arrive.

The elevator arrives without issue.

Nathan steps inside and decides to head back to the passenger quarters. He presses the button for Deck 2 and waits for the painfully slow journey.

Bartholomew leans back a bit in his chair. "Well, a member of the crew couldn't help but overhear your dinner discussion yesterday, and understandably got a bit worried. I was hoping we could clear up any potential misunderstandings before they occur."

Jason furrows his brow. "Dinner discussion...?" he asks, not completely following, "Regarding....?"

Linora nods slightly, and then seems to realize something. "I'm Professor T'Ris, but I suppose you knew that. You are...?"

I'm Ilyna T'Rea, with Redrock Agency.

Ilyna says. "Wolfe was supposed to come along for this meeting,as well, but he was needed elsewhere right now."

Bartholomew gains a disapproving look, raising his eyebrows. "About blowing your way into the armory."

Linora bows her head, and then smiles again. "So, what can I help you with then?"

Jason does not gain a disapproving look. In fact, a big grin crosses his face. "Oh!" he starts, before descending into a short bit of laughter. "Context, Chief. Just need a bit of context. We were discussing the fact that we don't have direct access to the armory, and what would happen were we under attack, being boarded-..." he shakes his head and gestures with his hands, "...whathaveyou.

If we're hit and the people with access to the armory are injured before we're equipped? I was just assuring my fellow employee that we'd find a way inside." he explains, leaning back in his seat and laying a hand against the armrest.

Bartholomew looks very, very skeptical, staring at Jason. "You do realize that the detonation of explosives inside the ship carries a significan't risk of catastrophic hull breach, or any other number of terrible technical problems that I'm sure our Chief Engineer would be happy to list for you?"

Ilyna nods. "I wanted to know about the world we're going to, and the system it's in," she says. "The risks, to be specific." She pauses for a moment. "I know that we might encounter Geth, but are there other known security risk?"

Jason looks slightly taken aback, having assumed his explanation would've went over better. He furrows his brow, leaning forward a bit in his seat. "Uhhh.... And you do realize that geth or some scumbag pirate boarding party inside the ship carries a significant risk of fucking your shit up, your crew's shit up, or any other number of painful scenarios that result in all of us winding up in

a world of hurt that I'm sure the man missing two arms would be happy to list for you?" He settles against the backrest once more, shrugging slightly, "It'll be a small explosion. Promise." he adds with a big smile.

Linora nods in return. "Of course. That is what you are here for, after all. Geth is the greatest concern, to be sure. If they are encountered we may need to abort the entire expedition, which would be very unfortunate. The risk of running in to pirates or other unsavory individuals this for out is minimal. There is a small possibility of hostile wildlife, but it is unlikely, due to the extreme conditions of the planet surface."

Bartholomew narrows his eyes at Jason, and then lets out a grunt. "I can assure you that will not be necessary. If boarding action were to occur, arming your team would be the first priority."

Jason nods. "Good to hear, Chief. And if that is the way things play out, I assure you no explosives will be detonated onboard the ship." he says before adding, "You know, unless absolutely necessary."

Ilyna frowns. "That would be a wise decision, yeah, especially if they have a vessel in the system," she says. "What sort of wild life are you expecting on this world, if there happens to be any at all?"

Bartholomew lets out an affirmative grunt. "Very well. Be sure to keep your people in line as well, Mr. Wolfe. No explosions, or there will be hell to pay."

Linora shakes her head dismissively. "As I said, nothing dangerous, certainly not on the surface at any rate. If the planet has wildlife, it will most likely be under the ice sheet."

Jason stands and gives the man a nod. "My people are fine, Chief. Rest assured, we know what we're doing. We want this expedition to be a success as much as the rest of you." He stands in place, awaiting to see if the man has anything else to add instead of just walking out on him.

Bartholomew nods. "That's all, Mr. Wolfe."

Jason nods once more and moves to leave the room. Once outside he continues down the hall, muttering to himself.

Ilyna nods. "I understand," she says. "What can you tell me about the landing site? Would the terrian provide cover in case of a Geth attack?"

Linora raises an eyebrow. "I could not tell you. The landing site is not my decision, and has not been decided yet."

Ilyna nods, again. "I'll save those questions for when the decision is made, then," she says. "How thick is the ice we're landing on, and do we have to pay attention to it in case it shatters beneath our legs?" She gives an apologetic smile. "I don't meant to ask stupid questions."

Linora chuckles slightly. "Rest assured we will not be landing on any ice that isn't thick enough to support the ship."

Ilyna chuckles as well. "Sorry, I didn't think you would," she says. "I assume there's nothing that could change that after we set down?"

Jason remains outside of the lab, propped up against the wall as he waits silently for Ilyna. He contemplates entering, but doesn't want to interrupt if they're right in the middle of conversation.

Linora shakes her head with a reassuring look on her face. "No, a sturdy landing site is very important. There will be a lot of effort put in to picking the right spot."

Ilyna nods again. "Thank you," she says. "I... think that's all I wanted to ask for now, unless there's anything else you can tell us that'll help us keep your team safe."

Linora takes a seat in her chair. "No, but I will be sure to tell you if I think of anything. A pleasure talking to you, Ilyna." she says with another polite smile.

Ilyna returns the smile. "Likewise, T'Ris," she says. "I'll let you get back to work." She turns around towards the exit.

Linora spins around in her chair, wasting no time in getting to work at her computer terminal.

Ilyna pushes the door's interface, and steps out into the hallway. She notices Jason when she turned around, and raises an eyebrow. "How long have you been standing here?"

Jason gives Ilyna a little wave. "Just a minute or so. Security chief wanted to have a word with me. Apparently, someone heard us talking about bombing our way into the armory yesterday and went to him about it. He wanted to make sure we weren't going to go around blowing shit up." He gives a shrug, a smirk crossing his lips, "I told him we probably wouldn't blow anything up..."

Ilyna sighs. "That... wouldn't ease their worries, though," she says. "You didn't actually do that, I hope?"

Jason gives a quick chuckle as he moves away from the wall. "I explained that we were just going over contingencies." he says, "He seems a bit high strung. I don't think there's much that would ease that man's worries, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. You find anything out from our Professor friend?"

Ilyna shakes her head. "She said a Geth encounter would probably lead to them cancelling the expedition," she says, "but she didn't know about any other potential security risks."

Jason gives a shrug as he starts down the hall. "Seems a little odd, doesn't it? I mean, we didn't exactly come cheap. If they're not expecting any resistence, and, let's be honest, an encounter with the geth out here is going to come down to just running... Then why were they willing to dump so many credits on a group of mercenaries? It's obvious they have their own security detail, so why

not just them?" He gives a shrug, suddenly realizing this may just be more of what Vasquez spoke to him about: Allowing his previous experience with ExoGeni to color his thoughts. He lets out a sigh, "Or.... maybe they just care about their people and wanted a team of people who do this type of stuff for a living." he adds, trying to re-evaluate the situation.

Ilyna nods. "They would need us if the Geth shows up while their team is scattered all over the field," she says, "but yeah, it could be as simple as the Matriarch wanting to know her team is safe out here."

I'm going to do my best not to read too much into everything. Probably best if we both approach it from the angle that 'they're probably just doing what they feel is right' unless we see something to imply otherwise.
