Yan Sun looks a bit uncomfortable as she continues to stare out at the camp, or rather the snowy fields beyond it. "Uhm... I'd rather not... freeze to death." she says, putting gloved hands in her lap.

Jessica smirks and gives Yan Sun a nudge. "Aw, come on, kitty cat. I'll keep you warm." She points over to the Grizzly. "Eh? Eh?" she teases with a few more nudges. "Some fun in the car-... tank-... whatever it's called..." She frowns at her lack of knowledge and shrugs.

Yan Sun looks over towards the Grizzly, and her gaze then falls across the camp down to the other vehicles which are parked below them. Her gaze darts to the mist-covered center of the camp and then she shrugs, her face carrying faint hints of a mischievous look which should be familiar by now. "I have access to that one..." she says quietly with a nod to the snowcrawler.

Jessica gains a surprised look, Yan Sun's response clearly not what she was expecting. "You-... I-...." she stammers as she looks to the snowcrawler, still somewhat out of breath from the climb. "...Full of surprises..." she finally repeats, leaning back and propping herself upright with her hands. "We could be the first people to ever bang the drum out here..." she says, sounding quite proud of that fact.

Yan Sun doesn't respond, but instead glances at Jessica and then scoots further over the edge, holding on with her palms. "This... this should be fine... I think." she mumbles, wincing slightly before letting go and sliding down the slope. Once her feet touch the ground she stumbles away from the cliff, but retains her balance and turns around to look up at Jessica with a proud smile at the fact that she did not infact faceplant

into the snow. "Not bad, huh?"

Jessica's eyes go wide as she watches the woman slide down the cliffside. "Wai-...!" she starts, but trails off as she scurries over to the edge to make sure Yan Sun didn't just get impaled by a jagged chunk of ice or something. She sighs, realizing she now has no other choice other than to slide down behind her. "Yeah, yeah.... Bragger..." she mutters as she inches her way to the on her bottom. "Here goes nothing..." she mutters to

herself as her legs dangle over the edge. She slides over the side, reaching out to both sides with her gauntlets in hopes of slowing her descent. A quick, high pitched screetch escapes her before she clasps her mouth shut. As she hits the bottom, she tucks her legs in and stumbles away, nearly falling over if it wasn't for the fact that she was able to get her hand down in time. "....Shiiiit...."

Yan Sun snickers at Jessica's reluctant descent, gaze following her slide and landing. Once the woman has stabilized she turns towards the snowcrawler parked nearby, and then promtly finds her second step connecting with nothing but ice from where the vehicles crossed the snow. She lets out a yelp before falling forward, her visor just barely missing the crawler and ending up in the snow instead, her cursing made inaudible by the

buried helmet speaker.

Jessica stares back at the steep incline she just slid down for a moment until she hears Yan Sun's trip into the snow. Her head snaps around and she lets out a loud burst of laughter. "Serves you right for trying to show me up!" she taunts as she stomps through the snow towards her, careful to slow her pace as she crosses the ice patch. Once she's beside Yan Sun, she places a boot on her back and applies a little pressure. "Under my

boot. Right where I want you~" she sings playfully with a snicker before removing her boot and reaching out with a hand. "Come on, you fool. Up!"

Yan Sun swats ineffectually at the boot with a few more muffled sounds but then reaches around for Jessica's hand when offered, pulling herself up with help and then wiping the snow off her helmet. She seems to consider saying something in her defense, but slumps her shoulders and turns to the door instead, activating her omni-tool. The snowcrawler opens a moment later, door going up above them and a small step folding out. She

nods for Jessica to get inside.

Jessica's grin widens as the door opens and she casts a glance around to make sure nobody is watching. "Hurry up!" she insists as she quickly enters the vehicle.

Yan Sun glances around as well, making sure neither of the sentries are around, and then climbs inside, pressing another key on her omni-tool to close the door. She's turned the power on in the snowcrawler, meaning lights in the ceiling are illuminating the passenger compartment, which has a small cargo space in one end and small ramp that goes up to the driver's seats, which sit higher than the compartment, but still within

view. As soon as the door is fully sealed there is a hum as the vehicle's environment controls get to work, adjusting the oxygen level and pumping out heat. Yan Sun sits down in one of the passenger seats and leans her head back as she looks at her omni-tool display. After about 15 seconds she reaches up and removes her helmet, taking a deep breath and then shivering. "Pretty cold... but at least I'm out of that

uncomfortable mess of a helmet." she says with a brief chuckle, a cloud forming as her breath meets the air. She places the helmet next to her.

Jessica just stands around awkwardly as Yan Sun gets to work turning on the environment controls. Once the woman's helmet is off, she takes it as a sign that the vehicle is sealed and begins to unlatch her own helmet and tosses it on one of the seats. "Mmhmm. Now how about we see about getting you out of the rest of that suit..." she says as she approaches Yan Sun, unwilling to admit that the cold is a bit more than she expected.

Yan Sun rolls her eyes but gains a small grin, unable to hide the fact that she quite likes Jessica's forwardness. "I'm not too convinced that'd be a good idea. This place is still freezing." she says with a glance at the heating vent. Her eye lights up, and darts around for a while as her focus moves from Jessica to an unseen interface.

Jessica snickers as she stops in front of her and places her gauntleted hands on Yan Sun's shoulders. "Bad ideas are much more fun anyway." she says as she looks down at her. "I told you I'd keep you warm. What? You don't trust me!?" she asks with a look of mock offense.

Yan Sun blinks the interface away as she feels Jessica's hands on her shoulders, and her focus returns to the woman, looking up at her, briefly looking like she's reconsidering. "I'm supposed to be keeping track of the probes..." she says, but she sounds less concerned by the prospect of neglecting that duty the longer she meets Jessica's gaze.

Jessica squeezes Yan Sun's shoulders and leans forward, putting her weight on the woman to hold herself up. "Mmm? Probes won't mind if you ignore them for a few minutes." she says with an impish grin, "Will they?"

The diving crew are given their promised additional three hours of rest, amounting to a decent nights sleep in total for all except Nathan. As the time to start the underwater portion of their planetary exploration grows closer, Harmonia waits outside alongside Linora, Leonard and Bort. Pablo has taken the drill rig aside from the hole and turned the laser off before heading inside to get some well needed rest with the rest of the

research team. The mist has cleared with the cessation of laser fire, although snow is now falling, light flakes raining down from the gray clouds above and twirling in the wind before gathering on the ice, small droves already building up near the vehicles and the smaller crates part-buried.

Nathan awoke and is now just finalizing his prep for the dive. This included a quick shower, coffee and a stimulant in his system. He's sat on the table with his helmet by his side, sipping at the last dregs of his second mug of coffee.

Uvena has only now woken up, and sits up quickly as she notices she is alone. The blanket falls to her lap while she looks around the room for any sign of the diving crew.

Jasper has already suited up in his uncomfortable loaner suit and is waiting anxiously for the chance to get in the triton mech. "I'll be outside, Ten!" he says from the kitchenette doorway as he begins to lock his helmet into place, "Hurry yer behind up! We got pilotin' ta do!" he says excitedly.

Ilyna is standing near the drill site, looking towards it.

Artullin is sat up in his bed, reading his omni-tool. He looks across to Uvena and flicks his head towards the door. "He's in the kitchen," he says, hazarding a guess at who she's looking for. "They'll be diving in a few."

Nalota is already outside, by the mechs. She woke up about forty minutes before the diving team was needed, and has been outside for half of that.

Jason is near Ilyna with his arms folded across his chest, Revenant holstered on his back. "I said one hour..." he reminds Ilyna in a mutter, for about the fifth time since she woke him up. "Two-and-a-half hours is not one hour..." he adds with a huff. More disappointed in himself that he actually took a nap than in Ilyna for not waking him when he asked.

Uvena smiles and places her feet on the floor, making her shudder as bare feet meets cold floor. "Thank you, Orto," she says before standing up. She makes a few brisk steps towards the kitchen doorway, looking inside.

Harmonia has been giving Nalota some last-minute advice on the piloting of the mechs, showing her some of the more obscure functions of the Triton's interface, as well as explaining a bit on how to handle larger underwater fauna, since they now know there is such a presence.

Artullin smiles as she leaves.

Nathan is cradling a mug of coffee, oblivious to Uvena for the moment as he looks to Jasper. "I'll see you out there, Jasper. This is going to be awesome!" He replies, mustering up the same level of excitement as the old man.

Ilyna turns towards him, and places a hand on his shoulder. "And like I've told you four times already, you really needed to rest," she says. "Nothing happened while you were away, and now you're here before the diving team."

Korio is still making his patrol rounds so Jason and Ilyna can focus on the dive for now.

Uvena steps into the kitchen, walking over to the counter. "I thought you said you were immune to that stuff," she says. "Why are you still drinking it?" Her tone is light-hearted, with a hint of grogginess.

Jason sighs and mutters a quiet "Thanks..." as he reaches over and gives Ilyna's hand a pat. "....Jerk." he adds with a slight smirk.

Nathan glances up, smiling to her as he waggles the now empty cup. "Because I need every scrap of energy I can," he replies. "I've taken a stimulant too, so I'll be alright."

Jasper squeezes past Uvena, shouting back to Ten as he does, "Yer dang tootin' it is!" he agrees as he returns to the airlock door. Once it opens, he steps inside and allows it to do its thing.

Ilyna nods. "You're very welcome, Jason," she says. "I have orders from the top to look after you, and... well, I would have done it anyway." A sheepish smile follows.

Jason 's smirk grows at the thought of Vasquez upon her mention of orders. "Suppose it's a good thing I got a little sleep. In case we need to kill some space whales." he says, only somewhat joking as he glances over at Ilyna, "You take a look at those photos Ten took? I sent them your way when I woke up."

Leonard walks up closer to the edge of the hole in the ice, peeking down curiously.

Uvena opens the fridge. "Be careful down there, okay?" she says. "I'll gear up once I've had a bite to eat." She picks out some simple sandwich toppings, and heads over to cut the bread.

Linora breaks off from the rest of the science team and heads towards Jason and Ilyna, no particular rush in her step.

Nathan nods and stands up, walking over to replace the cup. He makes to cut in front of her and cants an eyebrow. "Whhhhat, no goodbye kiss~?" he teases.

I'm glad you finally see things my way.

Ilyna chuckles. "I did see them, yes," she says. "I haven't heard anything else from the researchers, though, about what did this to the poor creature."

Jason nods a couple times, staring at the hole. "Yeah... Poor creature. That thing is big as fuck. No telling what sort of damage it could do, nevermind whatever put it down..." he says, not having noticed Linora's approach yet.

Linora manages to catch the end of the conversation as she steps up to the two of them, offering a nod in greeting. "Well, I believe it is time you received an update. The team has been at work in the lab for some time to analyze the data we received on the creature."

Uvena throws the packaged sanwdich toppings on the counter, although they land upright. "I'll be with you before you dive," she says, turning a bit to the side to face him completely, "but I suppose kissing with helmets on...," she trails off.

Nathan hums a laugh and leans forwards, bringing a finger and thumb up to her chin in an effort to guide her lips to his. "Bit difficult, no?"

Ilyna turns to face the researcher. "What did they find out?" she asks, offering a tiny smile.

Jason glances in Linora's direction as she approaches, but remains quiet as he awaits an answer to Ilyna's question.

Uvena gives a faint nod before her lips meets his, and she holds it like this for a few seconds. After she eventually pulls back, she smiles and whispers, "Good luck out there."

Nathan smiles warmly and nods. "Thanks. See you when I get back," he says as he walks over to the table and plucks up his helmet. He pulls it on, seals it, then makes to leave. He offers Uvena a wave before exiting. He looks to the airlock to see if Jasper is still there or not.

Jasper is long gone by this point. Well, just outside of the airlock waiting beside the door for his wingman. "Dammit, Ten! The romance can wait 'til later! We got mechs. Mechs!" he mutters to himself.

Nathan goes through the whole tedious wait with the airlock, then exits, looking down to Jasper. "Alright! Let's pilot some mechs!"

Uvena returns the wave before turning back to th ecounter with a sigh, proceeding with making breakfast.

Jasper raises his arms in excitement, the bulky suit limiting his movement somewhat. "Mechs!" he repeats with a big, toothy grin shining through his visor. "We're 'bout to make history, Ten! Can ya believe it? My daughter ain't gon' believe this one."

Linora brings up her omni-tool, double-checking a few things before turning her attention back to the human and the asari. "The animal has been dead for several months, likely exceeding a standard year. As was evident, most edible parts have been stripped. Dr. Danaria's judgement of the being indicates that they dwell in the warmer regions of the planet, likely eating smaller marine life that gathers near the surface to

absorb energy from the sun. However, I feel the need to assure you that, if any animals of that size were encountered by the diving team, Harmonia assures me the Tritons are quite safe for use regardless. As for what killed the creature... well, that is both more interesting, and... perhaps to your team, more relevant..."

Nathan smirks and makes to clap Jasper on the shoulder. "Then let's go make history! C'mon!" he says, laughing merrily. He starts off towards the others.

Jason sighs loudly. "I don't like being relevant...." he admits, "Let's hear it."

Ilyna frowns, but she doesn't say anything.

Jasper nods a few times as Nathan sets off. "This is gon' be somethin' else!" he says enthusiastically before jogging to catch up with Nathan, the suit causing him to mostly just hobble back and forth from one leg to the other.

Leonard seems satisfied with his visual inspection and retreats from the edge, instead turning his attention to the arriving mech pilots.

Uvena is putting the various toppings making up the simple sandwich, seemingly in a hurry to get it done.

Nathan chuckles and waves to the group. "Mech pilots Jasper and Nathan, reporting for duty!" he calls out.

Nalota nods to the arriving pilots, having waved to them once they were in sight of her. "There you are," she says. She is torn between feeling enthusiastic, and nervous about this.

Jasper slows down with his hobble as he catches up to Nathan. "Me-... pilo-..." he begins, attempting to keep his words synchronized with Nathan's but failing, so he simply nods and enthusiastically adds, "Fer' duty!" along with Nathan. He's shining brightly as if it's Christmas morning.

Linora offers a reassuring smile. "I am fully confident that your team can handle any potential threats from the local wildlife. Keep in mind that few animals are interested in fighting something that can fight back. I just wanted to inform you that whatever killed the creature, did so when it was near the surface, and pulled it out of the water. This is an extremely impressive feat with such massive prey, and must mean

that the predator is either of an equally impressive size, which is unlikely, or that they hunt in packs."

Harmonia gives a sharp nod. "About time you showed up. Ready to dive?"

Damn right we are.

Jasper nods, a serious expression returning to his face. "Good ta go, ma'am!" he says, standing up as straight as he can manage in the awkward suit.

Jason sighs and glances over at Ilyna. "Greeeat." he mutters before turning back to Linora. "So if this thing is either large enough- or hunts in large enough numbers- to lift a whale out of the ocean.... Then how come none of us, or the probes, have seen a single sign of anything? Isn't that a bit... weird?"

Ilyna frowns, but she remains quiet.

Nalota nods. "As ready as I'll ever be, ma'am," she says.

Uvena has already eaten that sandwich, and now she's taking frequent sips of the still warm coffee.

Linora shakes her head. "While the presence of life on the surface is a surprise to us, that it has gone unseen is not. Our probes have mapped only a small part of the area, and anything that lives on a harsh world such as this is likely to remain in a sheltered location and emerge as rarely as possible."

Well, let's just hope whatever it is doesn't decide to get curious and come check us out.

Jason reactively glances back towards the horizon, making sure Korio is still on patrol.

Korio is still on patrol.

Ilyna tilts her head. "Would they come here, though?" she asks. "Aside from our presence, this area is only snow and ice. There was exposed water where our team spotted the dead creature."

Harmonia gestures towards the parked mechs. "Alright, let's get to it. Climb in, power your Tritons up and run a basic systems check before walking over here!"

Linora shakes her head to Ilyna. "It is highly unlikely that we would encounter these unknown predators unless we return to their hunting grounds. Of course, if time permits, my team would be interested in doing just that later. With a sufficent security attachment of course. I assume that is not an issue?"

Ilyna looks at Jason for an answer to that.

Nalota nods sharply, and hurries over to get into the nearest mech. Once inside, she starts powering it up, and running the checks that Harmonia no doubt instructed her about.

Jasper rubs his hands together as his eyes light up. "You ain't gotta tell me twice!" he says as he scurries over to one of the Triton mechs and climbs inside with a surprising amount of agility brought on by the promise of mech'ing! He quickly gets to work on running system diagnostics, his fingers poking, prodding and swiping in different directions.

Nathan nods and makes towards the mechs. He clambers in one and starts running the diagnostics, humming a tune to himself.

Jason lets out an audible sigh as his gaze lowers to the ice slightly. "We're here to protect your people while you work. If it's something you need to do-..." he shrugs, "...then we'll do whatever we can to keep you safe. If the shit hits the fan, I just hope you and your people understand that the research comes second to the safety of everyone. If that means leaving equipment behind,

so be it. Understood?"

Linora smiles reassuringly and nods. "Of course, Mr. Wolfe. We have experience working on hostile worlds, some of us in warzones even. In a threatening situation, we will defer to the security team. Rare is the research data that is worth dying over."

Uvena stands up, and hurries over to the bunk room. She is leaving the plate and half-empty cup of coffee behind. Once inside, she makes her way over to her own bed to gather her neatly folded armor undersuit, as well as her bra that was lying underneath it.

Nathan's mech seems fine, but Jasper's has a minor irregularity in the mass effect generator. Not a large enough issue to be any real cause for concern. Nalota's has a frozen joint.

Jasper frowns a bit. "Gettin' some bad readins' from the mass effect generator." he says aloud, his eyes still on the readout. "Should be-...." he looks up from the display and nods to Harmonia, "....Should be alright, right?" he asks hopefully, hoping she won't just call it off.

Nathan looks out the mech and nods. "I'm green across the board."

Harmonia walks up to Jasper and takes out her omni-tool, having already linked it to the mech's systems. After a moment of studying the read-outs she nods. "Yeah, should be fine. Just don't overexhaust the core."

Nalota sighs. "There's a frozen joint on mine," she says. "How do I fix that? I assume moving it might, but I want to know for sure."

Jason gives a nod. "That's all I ask." he says, glancing towards the mechs as they come to life, "So what's expected of them down there?" he asks with a nod towards the Tritons, "Are they collecting more samples?"

Harmonia turns to Nalota and nods. "Yes, they're sturdy, just stomp a bit."

Nalota nods and starts moving the offending leg joint, stomping the leg into the ground a few times while looking at the readouts.

Linora glances over her shoulder at the drillsite and then returns her attention to Jason with a nod. "Yes, that's correct. They will be documenting any flora and fauna they come across, as well as taking samples of the seabed."

Jasper nods to Harmonia and gives her a big smile. "Then I'm ready an' willin'! Just tell me when!"

Jason looks uncomfortable at the mention of the seabed. "Do we know how deep that thing even goes?" he asks, jutting his chin towards the hole.

Ilyna looks towards the hole, concern written all over her face. She doesn't say anything.

Linora nods, raising an eyebrow at the worry. "We have estimates, from the depth probe we sent down earlier. They will be descending several kilometers. This is what the Tritons are built for, it is no cause for concern."

Will we be able to retain comms at that kind of depth...?

Linora shakes her head. "No, of course not."

Harmonia nods to Jasper, and as the ice is successfully loosened by Nalota's manuever, to her as well, before climbing into her own Triton ADS, sealing the hatch and then enabling the comms between the four mechs. "Everyone read me?"

Nathan closes the hatch and chimes into the comms. "Nathan here, I read you."

Jasper swipes at the interface, causing his own hatch to seal. He gives a thumbs up through the viewing window. "Jasper here, loud an' clear!"

Ilyna tilts her head. "Do they have any means at all of getting a report to the surface?" she asks.

Jason looks confused for a moment. "Wait, wait, wait... We're sending them down there without any way of letting us know if they're in danger?" He sighs and hangs his head. "Not. A. Fan."

Nalota closes the hatch and seals it, nodding to herself once it completely shuts out the outside athmosphere. "Teralis. Comms seems to be working."

Uvena is at the moment putting on the armor undersuit, having closed both kitchen doors to get some privacy while doing so.

Linora seems increasingly confused. "Of course... that's how deep diving works... but they will be able to re-surface at any time with the Tritons' ascension thrusters."

Jason lets a deep breath out through his nose. "Assuming they're not being munched on by an ice whale..." he says. He looks towards the Triton mechs and points at them. "Be careful!" he shouts, probably the 100th time he's told someone to be careful during this expedition.

Harmonia starts manuvering her mech towards the diving hole once confirmation has been given, stopping near it. "Any questions before we go?" she says over comms to the other divers.

Nathan twists the mech and catches Jason's point. He raises the arm and waves with it, before turning back and waiting for the other two to go ahead of him. "None. I'll do what I can to cover you three in... this."

Jasper follows behind Harmonia, slowly and carefully, leaving plenty of space between the mechs. "What's our instructions if we come across danger?" he asks.

Harmonia responds quickly. "These mechs are durable. In the unlikely event we encounter something that is dangerous despite this, report it to the rest of us, and if necessary, activate your ascension thruster."

Nalota remains in place, waiting for Nathan to go ahead without saying a word over comms.

Jasper nods from behind his viewing window. "Alright. Let's get in there and science the hell outta this place!"

Ilyna looks over at the group of approaching mechs. "Good luck," she says, not appearing any less concerned about this.

Nathan waits behind Jasper, stealing a quick glance back to the prefabs. He sighs and looks forwards again, speaking to himself and not over comms. "Alright, let's do this...".

Jason shifts uncomfortably, but gives the crew a thumbs up and forces a smirk from behind his visor. "Good luck..." he repeats Ilyna's words quietly.

Nalota waits two more seconds after Nathan start moving to follow him.

Harmonia has her mech do a shrugging motion to make sure the arms are operating, before walking up to the edge. "Let's do it!" she says, actually sounding rather enthusiastic. A moment later her mech jumps into the hole, causing ice-cold water to splash up at the area immediately surrounding it.

Linora looks at the mechs as well, silent, but smirking slightly as she sees Harmonia's Triton jump into the water.

Jasper takes a deep breath. "Hold onto yer butts!" he shouts before taking a heavy step towards the hole and leaping in. "Wahoooooooooo!"

Nathan chuckles over comms. "Tally-ho!" He says before dropping into the hole shortly after.

Ilyna takes a few steps back even if she wasn't close enough for water to hit her. A small smile shows up at hearing their enthusiasm.

Jason allows a slight chuckle, the team's enthusiasm alleviating some of his worry momentarily.

Nalota steps up to the hole, but she isn't that quick to enter. About five seconds pass before she decides to jump in after them. However, before she can jump, she takes a miscalculated step and ends up having the mech belly-flop into the water. She seems to be speaking to herself while she does so, but not over comms. She checks all readings once it is underwater.

The four mechs start descending rapidly down the drilled shaft, their surroundings growing darker and darker as sunlight struggles to penetrate the thick ice sheet. The mechs would be keeping themselves stable thanks to subtle mass effect field shifts, except for Nalota's, which is tumbling around every which way, and even smashing against the ice wall of the shaft several times, dislodging small pieces of ice and sending groans

throughout the metal of her Triton. The spinning of the mech makes it hard to determine what is up, down, left or right - only the water pressure and depth readings really remain accurate.

Jasper activates his mech's lighting system. "Ya'll alright up there?" he asks over comms as the muffled groaning reverberates throughout the shaft, "That don't sound too good!"

Nathan switches on his Triton's lights, hoping that the beams of light cut through the inky darkness of the water. He looks up and catches the tumbling mech above him against the struggling light of the day. "Hoooooooly crap, Nalota, you okay?"

Triton))

Nalota is doing everything in her power to get it upright. "I'm okay," she answers of comms. "Just give me a minute to stabilize it."

Harmonia 's voice comes in over comms "Increase the strength of the ME-field to prevent collisions and then use the water jets to reorient when out of the ice shaft.". She also turns on the lights of her mech, and they illuminate a decent distance ahead in the dark waters as she emerges first from the ice.

Artullin is still sat in the bunkroom, only giving Uvena a passing glance as she hurries in and out.

Nalota has fallen behind the others, her mech's descent slowed by the impacts.

Uvena opens the door to the bunk room again, jogging through it on the way to the armory.

Jasper tracks Harmonia's descent as she exits the shaft and moves off to the side to avoid any possible future collisions, using his water jets to try and meet her speed. "On yer tail, Harmonia." he informs, "You gon' need us to wait up fer ya, Nalota?"

Nalota nods to herself. "Copy that," she says over comms as she complies with the advice, increasing the mass effect field's strength. "That would be appreciated!"

Nathan slows his descent and shifts to the side, turning his mech slightly and peering up at Nalota. He watches silently, Harmonia's advice sound.

Jason looks to Ilyna with a sigh as the comms chatter signifies that they're already having issues. "This is gonna be a long day..."

Harmonia starts slowing her descent to let Nalota catch up as well, but the water jets can do little for any of them, and they all continue to plummet deeper into the sea at a quick pace, although it would be hard to tell without their instruments telling them, as they soon enter water pitch black, the parts illuminated looking identical meter for meter.

Ilyna frowns. "Yeah," she sighs. "And for most of it, we... can only guess their situation."

Linora looks to Jason and Ilyna with a faint smile. "They will be fine. I have a great deal of trust for Harmonia, and Nalota is one of my own team. She... clearly needs some more training, but her spirit is there."

Jasper continues to gauge his speed based on Harmonia's, the fleeting light of her mech his only beacon. "You got this, Nalota." he assures the asari, hoping her nerves hold out, "Hard to tell what's goin' on down here, jus' keep the lights in yer sight."

Nathan continues to track the others as well as he can, still keeping an eye on Nalota.

Jason gives Linora a nod, not feeling particularly comforted by her words. "Just makes me uneasy to know there's nothing I could do to help even if I knew what was going on..." he explains, giving an apologetic shrug for dampening the mood of what should be an exciting endeavor.

Nalota starts stabilizing the mech once she's out of the shaft, using the faint white dot of dailight above as an indication of orientation. "Working on it," she says over comms. She does manage to get it almost upright.

Ilyna fronws, but she doesn't say anything as Jason's words pretty much sums it up for her. She stares at the hole.

Harmonia 's voice comes in over comms. "Descent underway. All mechs steady... mostly. We'll be dropp-...kzztk...-out of comms range soon. I'll b-...pzzf...-u back a souvenir."

Ilyna walks closer to the hole, hoping that would improve comms signals a little bit.

Jason remains in place, aware that it's probably the last they'll hear from them until their return. "Now we play the waiting game..."

Nathan's voice is the last to come through on comms. "...fffz...-going to b-...kzzk...-journal."

Linora looks at the hole with a distant gaze, listening to the comms fade out.

Leonard 's attention is also on the hole in the ice, no doubt thinking of the samples he'll get to analyze.

Jason looks to Linora once more. "How long are we expecting them to be down there...?" he asks, "...Ballpark it for me?"

Uvena seals her helmet to the suit before walking into the airlock. She slams the interface to start the process, and moves to stand near the door out. "Come on," she mutters impatiently. She may have neglected to enable her comms.

Linora turns her attention to Jason. "Hard to say. It depends entirely on what they find. No longer than four hours though."

Ilyna sighs. "I suppose standing here for the next four hours isn't going to do anyone any good," she says, casting a glance over her shoulder at Jason.

Jason sighs. "Four hours...?" he repeats, looking even more uncomfortable. "Shit. A lot can happen in four hours..." he mutters, but gives Ilyna a nod. "You're probably right, but I still feel more comfortable staying right here..."

Linora 's frown returns at their obvious discomfort. "I understand that it is your job to worry, but it really does you no good. They're documenting sealife, not flying into battle."

Ilyna nods, and turns to face the other two. "I know, but worrying for everyone... that is just who I am," she says.

Uvena exits the airlock the second she's able to, and starts running towards the drill site.

Jason looks back towards the hole, just staring at it as he responds to Linora. "Well, hopefully the sealife doesn't have other plans..."

Linora gives Jason a gentle pat on the shoulder. "It will be fine." she says, before starting on her way towards the prefabs - she's been working almost nonstop since they got here, after all.

Uvena stops once she's near the hole, looking around frantically for any signs of the mechs. She passed Linora on her way.

Ilyna moves to stand by Jason's side, also quitely staring at the hole.

Jason offers Linora a smirk. "I know. I'm just gonna.... you know, stay right here." he says, gesturing towards the hole, "Just in case..." He folds his arms back over his chest and glances over at Ilyna. "Don't feel like you have to stay here with me, Ilyna... But I'm not gonna turn down the company."

Korio continues his slow patrol, finding the view of the icy wasteland quite enjoyable.

Ilyna sighs. "I'd... rather not be alone with my thoughts right now," she says. "That will do nothing to ease my worry."

Uvena walks towards the edge of the hole, keepin her eyes on it. "How long have they been down there?" she asks nobody in particular.

Jason nods a few times. "I know what you mean. Just feels wrong that it's not us down there, you know?" he asks as he glances over at the asari. "I mean, not that I'd want you to be in danger, either. I just-... I don't want to ever become the sort of boss who shields himself from danger by throwing his employees at it instead. You know?" He sighs loudly. As Uvena speaks up, he

glances over towards her, "Just a few minutes. Professor said it could be up to four hours..."

Ilyna nods. "I know," she says, "but they're the only ones qualified to do it. I would have traded places with either of them were I capable of using the equipment."

Uvena gives a deep sigh as she stares into the water, standing very close to the edge. "Fuck, why did I have to be late for this," she mutters.

Jason returns his attention to the hole, shifting again. "You might as well get some rest, Uvena. Unless you want to stand around staring at this hole with us." he shrugs, "But there's no point in all of us freezing our asses off."

Uvena takes a step back and looks at Jason. "I've had enough rest for now," she says. "I want to be here when they come back, so I don't miss that too."

Ilyna remains silent, still focused on the hole.

Jason continues to wait silently, positioning himself so he can still keep an eye on the icy landscape beyond their camp as much as possible, too.

Uvena walks over to stand near Jason, being about as talkative as the other two.
