#ResearchCamp – April 18, 2016
Uvena finishes removing the armor pieces on her forearms and hands, and she crouches down beside him to be on eye level. "Sit still," she says before opening the medi-gel canister.
Uvena starts carefully applying medi-gel to his wound, keeping the canister very close the wounds she cover with it. "Are you injured anywhere else?" she asks. She has her free hand on his shoulder for balance.
Nathan gently shakes his head, as not to disturb the delicate operation. "Nah... just some bruises."
Uvena tilts her head. "Are you sure?" she asks. "I know you're eager to get back into the fight, but be honest with me." She is about halfway done covering the wounds with medi-gel.
Nathan offers her a thumbs up. "Seriously, it's only my head. Hey, could you grab Jasper for me once you're done... I'll need a hand with getting my armour back up to standard. Or... y'know... working."
Uvena nods. "I'll do that," she says. "He hinted at having soiled his underwear the last time he spokes over comms, though." She continues applying it, slowly but surely, but she's almost done now.
Uvena frowns. "What was those things?" she asks. "If you want to talk about it, of course." She takes the canister away from his face and looks it over.
Nathan shrugs again. "I dunno... very hungry and angry looking fish," he says. His wound is sealed and cleaned. "I'm fine, Uvena, don't worry. I was just... admittedly scared for a few minutes... but I'm fine."
Uvena sighs and sits down on the seat to his left. "I'm... just worried for you, Ten," she says. She enables her omms. "Jasper, Ten wants to speak with you."
Nathan furrows his brow lightly. "Don't get me wrong, I appreciate it... but you barely know me. What's with the concern?" he asks softly.
Tarkus continue patrol around the prefabs, he had given up on trying to remain on top of the prefab to give sniper cover. He was close to the airlock door now and scanned the area for any hostiles.
Nathan blushes very faintly and looks to her. "Well... uh, thanks. I like you too," he replies with a smile. "Well... thanks again. For this," he says, pointing to his treated head.
Jasper enters through the airlock a few moments later waving his hands. "I'm here, I'm here..." he says as he begins to unlatch his helmet. "Jus' escaped certain death, ya'll can wait a dang ol' minute..." he continues, his hands visibly shaking.
Nalota exits the airlock at the same time as Jasper, not saying anything as she starts getting out of the environmental suit.
Nathan grins and glances this way and that. He then chuckles. "C'mere," he says as he leans to peck her cheek.
Jasper continues to remove his suit, taking a deep breath once he's free of the cumbersome gear. "That was a helluva ride..." he sighs, glancing to Nalota, "...You did good."
Uvena leans towards him in turn, her smile growing wider at the kiss. "Careful now," she jokes. "So you don't fall on the floor."
Nalota sighs. "Thank you," she mutters. "For... waiting for me down there." She has only taken her helmet off, taking her time. She wipes the tears under her eyes.
Jasper reaches out and pats her on the shoulder. "That's our job. Ain't gon' let anything happen to ya." he says with a big smile.
Nalota returns the smile, and nods, but she doesn't say anything in response. She continues to take off the suit.
Jasper finishes removing his suit and stores it away. "We survived, Nalota. That's all that matters. You go 'head and get yerself some rest. You earned it." He nods to her once before setting off towards the bunks.
Tarkus upon seeing nothing, he begins to move his way to another side of the prefab to begin looking if there is any other danger in another direction.
Jasper enters just in time to catch the tail-end of the kiss. "This whatcha wanted me here fer, Ten?" he asks, "To show me that while I was down there bein' fish food, you were up here fallin' in love?" A big grin is on his face, "Good ta see ya safe."
Nathan waves Jasper off, his wound still visible despite the medi-gel. "Glad you're back, Jasper." He says with a genuine smile. "Was wondering if you could help me fix up my armour. Couple of the systems got fried when I linked my suit to the mech."
Jasper places his hands on his hips, giving a few nods. "Shouldn't be a problem. Heck, it'll gimme somethin' ta do."
Nathan grins. "Awesome. And, uh, we're going to cannibalize a few bits and pieces from the researchers. But, that's just between us three," he says lowly, winking conspiratorially to the pair.
Jasper gives a light chuckle. "Well, we sure got a lot ta tear apart. Yer mech an' mine are jus' scrapheaps at this point. Doubt they'll care too much if we 'repurpose' 'em."
Nathan grins. "You beautiful bastard," he says. "My helmet's filter should still be working, so I'll come out with."
Jasper nods a few times. "Sounds like a plan.... A plan that's gon' hafta wait till my bones stop a' rattlin'." he says with a chuckle. "That lil episode stirred me up but good."
Uvena tilts her head. "You should ask them what they want to do with them," she says. "Harmonia doesn't sound like the type you'd want to ask for forgiveness after the fact."
Nathan looks at Jasper and nods, then looks to Uvena. "Honestly, at this point... she's just going to have to deal with it. If my suit isn't up to scratch, I can't do my job of protecting them."
Uvena sighs. "I meant the mechs," she says, "but you should let them know which suits you take parts from."
Jasper nods, agreeing with Nathan. "She don't seem too agreeable. After what we went through down there, I don't think she's gon' get much say."
Uvena chuckles. "Alright, I won't tell them anything," she says, "but at least don't put the suits back with the others."
